Just had a slight panic when I saw the thread was nearly full.

I am now off to check the schedule properly- to see what I'll miss todayGrin

( all I know about Garin, is he once beat Zverev in the juniors at the French Open final).

Dimitrov's season is still going well, he's just lost to Taylor Fritz.

Cilic is in a bit of danger in the 3rd set against Klizan.

Raahh · 06/05/2019 18:08

Looks like Cilic found his mojo in the tie break!

Thanks for the updates Raahh - so did Cilic go through then? Hope so. The draw in Madrid looks really good, so many good players and potential good match ups.

I see Rafa will play Felix AA in his first match - should be interesting (although hopefully not too interesting). And Delpo plays tomorrow. Obviously he arranged that specially for a time when I wouldn't have any way to watch it, as we don't yet have broadband set up in our new house. FML! Why does it take them so long to connect it?! Hmm Anyway that's another story.

Delpo and Keith won their doubles against our Fabio and his partner - sorry to say I cannot remember who it was! I think they will play Murray/Soares next, so good luck with that!

Raahh · 07/05/2019 16:31

After noon private.
I've just been catching up on today. I see Djok went through, and Stan Bear, and Ferrer is doing ok against Busta-gut at the moment.

Cilic did go through, and is currently in a 3rd set against Struff, who had caused a few problems for the bigger players lately.

Nice to hear Marin strung a couple of wins together, that's a good win for him. Although he will play the winner of Delpo v Djere (sp?). Hopefully Delpo.

Did Ferrer go through - am of to check now actually. This is (potentially) RBA's second career ending match this year, I mean, he played Andy in Melbourne and now this. I think he's pals with Ferrer isn't he - must be a tricky situation for him.

Raahh · 07/05/2019 17:44

I hadn't thought of that re RBA, probably best he lets Ferrer win! Grin

Ferrer is serving for the match...

Meanwhile I notice Richard Gasquet is finally back after his injury - I think he had surgery in the end. He plays Federer later, bit of an unlikely match on clay these days. Allez Richard!

PrivateIsles · 07/05/2019 17:46

RBA seems to be listening to yr advice Raahh Grin

kazzaD66 · 07/05/2019 17:49

Just looked at the scores and see that Ferrer has just won Smile

mama1980 · 07/05/2019 17:51

Ferrer was great 👍

PrivateIsles · 07/05/2019 17:55

Ah I wish I had seen it!! Tennis

Raahh · 07/05/2019 17:58

Really pleased for David. Great result, especially on clay, and RBA has been solid all year so far.

Not such a good day for the Brits though, with Konta losing to Halep and Foggy beating Kyle. Jamie won his doubles tho. Also see that Tsitipas is playing doubles.

On the Gimelstob saga, apparently Djok has said that JG did some good things for the game and doesn't think it would be a problem if he returned once he got stuff sorted!Hmm Also, when asked about the silence from top players (ie him!) Roger said that no one had asked him about the JG situation because he hadn't been playing any tournaments lately and that he's not the type to just put opinions out on social media Hmm Is he having a dig at Andy and Stan? HmmGrin

kazzaD66 · 07/05/2019 20:58

I see it from didn't take Roger long to find his feet back on clay! I also see Kyrgios and Tomic are playing doubles together! That must be a joy to watch Hmm Luckily, they're currently losing to Kontinen and Peers Grin

kazzaD66 · 07/05/2019 21:00

Don't know where the rogue from came from!

JaneJeffer · 07/05/2019 21:02

That must be a joy to watch Grin

Thiem lost his first set to Opelka- but has got the second. I think Fed will have more problems against Thiem , than a Gasquet coming back from injury/surgery.

If they both get to the 3rd (?) round.

OP posts:
Raahh · 07/05/2019 21:15

ooh, looks like Opelka retired.

Raahh · 08/05/2019 14:31

Just seen that StanBear has won- going well for him.

Not going so well for Delpo who is a set down against Djere. He has recently won a tournament and is having a bit of a purple patch.

OP posts:
mama1980 · 08/05/2019 14:54

Hi all, Delpo seems to be doing much better in this set Smile
Have just got in hopefully will have time to watch Rafa

Raahh · 08/05/2019 15:00

Hi, mama. Good to see Delpo has taken the 2nd set.
I'm not able to watch, and am now in the school run in the rain.

Vamos Rafa!

mama1980 · 08/05/2019 15:05

I home educate but had to do the school run last week - I'm glad to be back to normal! I hope it stops raining for you raahh
Vamos indeed! Smile

mama1980 · 08/05/2019 15:31

Slow start here for both players.
Rafa is apparently getting over a stomach bug and AA looked a bit nervy - understandably.
Have to say again these commentators are driving me crazy though grrrrrrr.
