Pray tell, how you doin'?

In stitches. It's beautifully done. Subtle, clever, well acted with just a nice bit of poignancy too. Reminds me of detectorists a little (& not just that there's actors in both)

There has to be a second series. It's fab.

iklboo · 13/05/2019 22:48

Oh. Robin's speech about the moon was so beautiful.

AnyoneButAnton · 14/05/2019 00:03

I assumed that the ghosts in the cellar were from a plague pit Sad

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/05/2019 00:36

Yes that's what I thought too but just wondered why they don't move around the house.

AlunWynsKnee · 14/05/2019 00:42

I'm going to miss this when it's over.
Second series please!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 14/05/2019 06:54

I hope next week we learn a little more about Kitty.
Poet's (what IS his name?) gunshot wound was very obvious this week. Or would it be a rapier wound?

It's beautifully written
I lived Robin talking about the moon, and the dogs seeing the ghosts

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/05/2019 07:51

Thomas is the poet.

Pat with the dog was just lovely. He's such a likeable character.

AnyoneButAnton · 14/05/2019 08:07

I love the fact that they’ve created Robin, who is such a broad comic character and then taken the time to think about the implications of existing for millennia after your death. I especially like the fact that they showed it from very early on in the episode where he talks to Pat, rather than working it out much later and shoehorning it into a Very Special Episode. I think it shows the strengths of real ensemble writing - they’re getting depth.

The only weak point is the relationship between the two living leads. I increasingly don’t buy them as a couple in love, so that crack about “some awful people have lovely friends” which could have been a tease, seemed mean. They might well be planning to turn that around in the last episode though.

Mrsjayy · 14/05/2019 08:17

Lady Rachel with the hair Grin

As i keep saying it is a joy to watch it actualy makes me feel happy and maybe a little weepy Robyn and his moon

Whenwillthewashingend · 14/05/2019 09:58

I love this programme so much. It's very rare I have a smile on my face from start to finish, even when I'm filling up.
I'm going to miss my Monday evening date with my 15 year old DD.

Mrsjayy · 14/05/2019 10:02

My Dd says it hits her right in the feels Grin

Milicentbystander72 · 14/05/2019 10:08

Loving this series. I think there should def be a second series and maybe have more of a 'family' slot. At least maybe 9pm rather than 9.30pm.

I love all the characters. I love Robin and the Peasant lady burned as a witch. Pat is adorable. I love the MP's shouting as he tries to move a tiny object, also the soilder's latent homosexuality (that I don't think even he recognises). Great writing.

The80sweregreat · 14/05/2019 10:27

' i always smells burning'! Bless her.
Love Pat with the dog.
It's such a nice show. The friends bit was funny!

Mrsjayy · 14/05/2019 10:35

Exactly it is just a nice show nothing too rude or nasty in the humour funny clever and totally warms your cockles

Slaymill · 14/05/2019 11:48

An excellent summary @AnyoneButAnton I agree about the couple though my interest isn't focused on them luckily.

I thought it was a magical episode comedy and pathos in equal measure. I loved the bit about Stonehenge, I want a Moonah Ston and a Robin ghost.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/05/2019 11:52

Last night was a fantastic episode. Especially after watching “not going out” which isn’t funny or clever.

Slaymill · 14/05/2019 11:59

I sadly watched the lasts three minutes of "Not Going Out" it seemed to last forever and be sadly lacking in anything remotely resembling comedy.

I just sneaked a peak at the synopsis of next week Ghosts shame they couldn't do a whole hour episode.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/05/2019 12:15

I know what you mean about the living husband but he's got the trickiest part really as he has to pretend he sees and hears nothing while it's all going on around him. He's excluded from the action.

MissFitton · 14/05/2019 13:03

The time slot is working well for me as I watch it 'to see if it's suitable' with dire warnings about content of a 9.30 slot to the dcs. Then I happily rewatch it on a Tuesday with the dcs. 😁

Mrsjayy · 14/05/2019 13:07

I don't understand Not going out i did try years ago but it just isn't funny

Mrsjayy · 14/05/2019 13:09

I wonder who gave Robin his name and why I can't see many cavemen being called Robin Grin

iklboo · 14/05/2019 13:45

Maybe he was named after the first bird his parents saw? .

Grimbles · 14/05/2019 13:51

I thought this would be awful but I caught a few minutes of it last night and thought I'd give it a go.

I'm up to the filming episode now and loving it. I even like the husband Grin

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 14/05/2019 13:58

Totally agree with you all - it’s lovely! Possibly my favourite thing on tv at the moment 😳 Whimsical but also very quick and clever. I loved the sofa and the “How you doin’?” last night. And the frustration of not being able to swap the dvds over because you can’t touch them!!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/05/2019 14:05

I'll be watching it again tonight with DD. I'm going to have to explain Friends first!

Laughed lots at Thomas talking about Rachel's hair!
