All very good, but did anybody else have trouble hearing what they were all saying? I didn't have this issue with the previous series so wondering if they've meddled with the sound somehow? Anybody else find this?

OP posts:
PetuniaPetunia · 25/03/2019 12:39

Yes, but only Prince Albert!

QuiQuaiQuod · 25/03/2019 18:42

Is Skerrit having second thoughts on marrying the gorgeous chef?

Is it weird that I have a bit of a thing for Penge??????

Cant stand Lawrence Fox, and his character is making me hate him even more.
Didn't know Vics mum was married twice!

Would a black person have been allowed to front a protest group in those days? genuine question.

I have to watch with the sound off and subtitles on (need to listen for DCs breathing probs when shes in bed!) so volume not bothering me! Smile

SimonJT · 25/03/2019 18:44

I caught up over lunch today, I found it okay to hear, but I probably have the TV a little loud.

Blobby10 · 25/03/2019 19:56

Did anyone else cringe at the ‘french ‘ accent of king Louis? Or was it just me? 😖

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 25/03/2019 20:07

Now that you mention it OP we kept turning it up but DD kept noisily blowing her nose so I thought it was that

And agree @Qui Penge has grown on me so much Wink

Lawrence Fox coming across as unbearably smug and punchable. If he was chocolate he'd eat himself.

DD and I can't remember where Victoria sent her Mother off to? Anyone?? Now the sister is coming to continue her works.

But the title music starts to play and I am ridiculously happy.

DeadWife · 26/03/2019 07:22

Wasn't she packed off to the continent somewhere? I don't remember fully.

Good to have it back. But it has to be continued ... which makes me miss binge watching but then that makes no sense as I know what happened historically...bleat bleat

As you were.

DeadWife · 26/03/2019 07:23

Meant to say too that the sound wasn't an issue here.

QuiQuaiQuod · 01/04/2019 20:25

Glad that poor girl (terrible with names!) got a dig in about another royal baby to feed while the peasants starve type thing.

I know its supposed tio be about the Queen, but SOOOOOOOOOOO glad Skerrit didn't back out of the wedding.

Flaverings · 02/04/2019 13:37

By many accounts Victoria wasn't a great mother. I wonder how they're going to represent that, given that she's the series' hero and the programme takes a very sympathetic approach to her.

icelolly99 · 02/04/2019 14:10

I went off this series when it sharply veered from historical facts....several times.

MargoLovebutter · 02/04/2019 14:13

I liked the first series but I'm really struggling with the utter contempt shown for the facts of history now. I'm not sure why the writers of the show feel the need to change it all so much. Victoria was a complex and fascinating character - just sticking to the facts would have been engaging enough, I'd have thought.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 02/04/2019 14:23

Agreed that since they've gone away from using historical fact I've gone off it.

It's well known that Victoria didn't like childrwn including her own so for the scene with her son, sweet as it was, it just wouldn't have happened and completely out of character.

MargoLovebutter · 02/04/2019 14:51

She also didn't intervene in any way with the Chartist movement. None of her diaries show any particular sympathy towards them at all.

ladybird69 · 02/04/2019 20:36

I used to live in an actual chartist cottage 😁 so love to see anything about it on tv and yes Victoria wasn’t particularly sympathetic to the Chartist movement, the series is fluffing her up a lot.

QuiQuaiQuod · 11/04/2019 10:57

bottoms again? really? why? just why? the current obsession with showing mens bottoms in dramas.

Supposed to be about Victoria but its turning into upstairs downstairs or Downton Abbey.

Going off it now.
Theyre making Penge nasty. and Duchess Bottom man are the new Skerrit/Francatelli.

SparklingXmas · 14/04/2019 21:58

Oh no!

RosaWaiting · 14/04/2019 22:35

Sparkling I was totally not prepared for that. I knew something was afoot because of what they Tweeted this morning, but not that.

QuiQuaiQuod · 15/04/2019 14:23

Really? I saw it coming a mile off. So obvious something was going to happen.

GarthFunkel · 15/04/2019 17:11

That was like an episode of Casualty when you are just waiting for something bad to happen. Is everything going well? Excellent. Time to Die!!

woodhill · 15/04/2019 17:14

I thought the lady who died of cholera who, drank the potion already had a dd as she used to leave her with someone whilst she worked at the palace.

RosaWaiting · 15/04/2019 23:10

Qui when you say a mile off, what do you mean?

I realised when she excused herself from dinner.

but because the show Tweeted in the morning that we'd say goodbye to them as a couple, I actually hoped that Skerritt would change her mind and go back to the palace.

diddl · 16/04/2019 08:29

Skerritt took a friend's/relative's job because they had a baby didn't she?

It was all rather sign posted though wasn't it?

PetrichorRain · 17/04/2019 09:35

I'm catching up, on episode 3 - are they implying poor little Edward VII had dyslexia or short sight? He said all the words were "swimming" when he was reading with Albert and Vicky but later when doing archery seemed to be squinting/peering to make the letters out.

diddl · 17/04/2019 09:47

I'm wondering why Bertie is always in a kilt!

TheweewitchRoz · 19/04/2019 23:57

I'm on episode 3 - Albert seems so emotionally abusive - is that well documented or artistic license for the drama?
