Since when does Jean smoke?
Phil & Shazza storming out of the restaurant was idiotic, they were there about 10 seconds

nancy75 · 11/03/2019 20:54

I bet Max comes back with another woman

The80sweregreat · 11/03/2019 21:02

Nancy, he has form for this! Remember Max's secret wife on Xmas day years back?
He was about to remarry Tanya on the square till Kirsty showed up demanding to see her husband?
It's a possibility! A fiery French woman who loves a badly English guy!

The80sweregreat · 11/03/2019 21:02

Baldy rather! 😂

Akire · 11/03/2019 21:14

I was shocked seeing jean smoke. Shows how much of an out law it’s become! Even seeing her breathing smoke out not just pretending (I know it’s not real!) Old creepy guy is well creepy! He must be 70/80 and Jean is what 55?

Hate way Phil can spend half year abroad and never really say what’s he up to. He’s been away 2 weeks and didn’t do what he want to do. They could do with Phils secret family in Spain, France, Bulgaria or whatever. He certainly has the time .. and probable funds to have chain of Phils auto parts in each place!

What is Max living on?

MrsJayy · 11/03/2019 22:05

I've never seen Jean smoke she is probably meant to be an ex smoker that the stress got to her

Optimist1 · 11/03/2019 22:16

I saw Jean's smoking as her having the freedom to do what the hell she wants in her new life in the caravan - painting, being Petronella, not being at everyone's beck and call being other symptoms.

SlipperOrchid · 12/03/2019 00:05

The Bailey storyline is heartbreaking. I was in tears listening to her tell how she heard the nurse and her mum talking and has been secretly worrying what will happen to her while trying to protect her mum from worrying about her. I hugged my five year old extra hard tonight.

The80sweregreat · 12/03/2019 07:50

Dot has always smoked and it looks ' right' ( even if it's terrible etc etc)
Jean smoking : just no!

dogsdinnerlady · 12/03/2019 07:52

Jean is being a selfish, irrational idiot. But if I had Stace crying and shouting at me down the phone I might be tempted to do a runner too.
Jean's cancer issue isn't doing a good job in encouraging other women to go for smear tests. Making the whole thing ultra scary and something to run away from isn't helpful. Bad call by BBC.
Stacey seems to have ballooned recently - she's such a pretty girl but seems to have got really podgy. All down-turned (plumped up) lips and double chins.

The80sweregreat · 12/03/2019 07:56

Max is with baby Abi living on fresh air in France! (Or just starting to grow his own veggies or selling old cars to ex pats!)
Who are they living with? Jacks daughter penny ? Must be fun with a 15 month old! Not.

He was broke a while back after the weyland business : Rainie got him back on track , he owes her really.

The80sweregreat · 12/03/2019 07:58

Dogs. Lacey turner ( stace) is pregnant in real life.
She is quite needy about her mum but a lot is worry of course. Jean is being very unreasonable too and a pain I think. Just face up to it all and get support from family!
There's enough of them to provide it.

dogsdinnerlady · 12/03/2019 08:01

The80s...OK being pregs is a good enough reason.

The80sweregreat · 12/03/2019 08:25

Dogs, it was only announced the other week ; her baby is due in the summer I think?
I don't see why Mitch can't care for Bailey when her mum dies? His her dad , she is at school , he must live somewhere, he works.
He appears to be pushing it on Karen who has enough on her plate as it is!

MrsJayy · 12/03/2019 09:52

Why should't jean be irrational and scared she did go to the Drs initially but was frightened and ran away Jean has a mental illness she isn't always going to be rational I don't think the bbc should be sending out positive messages all the time.

MrsJayy · 12/03/2019 09:54

I think young Baileys story is in conjunction with comic relief

Susiesoap7 · 12/03/2019 10:22

My sympathy is with Jean I just love her, she just wants to be alone with her fear! Anyone living with fear would understand
Don't like the creepy man though

The80sweregreat · 12/03/2019 10:59

I do understand the sympathy for jeans actions ; who knows what any of us would do given such bad news? But she is ignoring and shutting out her family that she has lent on many times! It isn't in her nature to be so selfish. Plus how is she affording to live there?
I know it's all not true, but it's annoying me a bit.
Let's hope she sees sense soon.

woodhill · 12/03/2019 11:27

Don't know how any of the Slater's manage financially. They sit around a lot and don't do much cleaning in their business and now no Jean or Mo helping.

No one ever mentions sharing out wages or bills in EE and no arguments.

Thymeout · 12/03/2019 12:10

80's - I don't think you're being fair to Jean. As you said, who knows how any of us would behave in similar circumstances? She thinks she is facing a death sentence. She knows she will have to deal with it eventually. But for now, I think she has every right to take some time on her own, blank out reality and pretend that the future could be different.

I think Stacey's being the selfish one. It's all about how she's upset, she's worried, but it's not about her.

Actress playing Jean deserves an award. You can see her thinking.

MrsJayy · 12/03/2019 12:21

Stacy is bloody annoying if she was my Dd I would need a break too the family is really suffocating.

youarenotkiddingme · 12/03/2019 16:07

The Jean and Stacey thing is very realistic. I know my mum shields me from every little detail. Except I want to know every little detail because it's my mum. I don't want her to have cancer. I want to know realistically what timescale we have etc.
Don't think there's a right or wrong.
But I do know I ask my mum questions and even when I think she's giving me a ball park and it doesn't answer what I need to know - I respect it what she wants me to know. Iyswim?

bullyingadvice2017 · 12/03/2019 16:12

Stacey babies jean as she has had to when she's been ill. She's attempted suicidal a few times I think?

The80sweregreat · 12/03/2019 16:40

I do get it ; honestly ( about jean) but I still think that she shouldn't shut them out her life and just be with them for support. I was taught to face up to things in life. I suppose you could blame my parents who lived through WW2 and wouldn't ever give up and get on with it!
They would tell me to go the appointments on time and get advice and treatment and would support me. I think she will do this eventually but for now she is being unreasonable. (Just my opinion and it is only a soap! )
I hope she survives this too.

Thymeout · 12/03/2019 17:08

Youare so sorry you're going through this. I had six weeks of not knowing till after surgery and results with suspected ov.ca. Local hospital were v gloomy, but top doc gave me some hope. It all turned out OK, tho' I'm still being monitored. My Ca125 was 130, but my tumour was over 2 kilos!

Looking back, I think I went a bit mad, too. My dd and I were having these ridiculously jokey convos on the phone about at least I wouldn't have to cook a Christmas turkey again... It didn't really kick in till it was all over.

Do hope they're managing to find a suitable treatment for your Mum. Difficult when they don't know where it originated. Flowers
