I hope ITV don't axe DoI again. It's a shame it's not on Saturday night with a bigger budget. I prefer skating and dancing to talent/singing shows.

Georgie got booted first for giving Sylvain a hard time for his private life. David went out early as Frankie might have been seen as splitting up his marriage.

Chris was great. If I recall correctly he managed to almost land an axel which with like 5 months skating coaching is tres impressif

I had to watch the Bolero on catch up but I am so thrilled for James. I knew he'd smash it - he did some wonderfully emotional performances on Strictly.

And I've always liked him.

He used to do ice hockey soup - I know it's a different kind of skating but how much would it give you an edge, pardon the pun. Ray was ex-ballroom and a rollerblader. I can skate but not well - I took a massive fall and broke both wrists last time I went to an ice disco

Got called away but I'm so glad James won, he was the best in the end.

Wot larks we have had in this thread, thanks one and all for making it such fun! It's been quite a marathon and I'm really impressed with those of you who can remember all the previous years' skaters.

Very late to this thread but so glad James won. Despite him being a bit of an arse I have a soft spot for him. he's very wolfish looking

David seaman was an ice hockey player too, before he got his call as a football player.

Honestly as figure skaters we used to say that hockey players could skate at all, and it's not far from the truth. Hockey and figure skates are very different. Obviously everyone knows/can see that the boots them selves are different but even the blades are different. The obvious difference is that hockey blade don't have a toe pick which can make it difficult for hockey skaters to transition as they tend to put all their weight forward which in figure skates means they catch their toe picks and go flag on their faces.

Additionally and what many people don't realise is that hockey blade are sharpened to a point. Like a. Knife. Whereas figure skates have two edges. Which makes the way you move your weight affect the curve you skate on much more.

Basically the only advantage someone who has been a hockey skater has is an aliment of confidence and comfort with being on the ice.

In comparison ray Quinn's roller skating prowess would have been much more of an advantage

Just caught up too. I think it was a very close call, but I think Wes should have won. James is incredibly easy on the eye though, and Wes was a very gracious runner up.

Was glad it was James and Alexandra, although I would have liked to have seen Saara’s Bolero over Wes’s.
Didn’t like seeing everyone else skating with tortilla and dean, I get really distracted! Same as when the couples did their earlier routines with all the professionals, I find it annoying.
Holly’s dress was awful, chris’s Jacket was comical.
Whatever will I do with my Sunday evenings now?!

So pleased James won. His bolero was just beautiful and very classy. You could tell that all the judges thought it superior to Wes but they were very diplomatic in their comments. Jayne in particular couldn't hide that she loved it.

I like that DOI has shown a different side to James. He's always had a reputation for arrogance but I think this show has shown how likeable he is and that what sometimes comes out as arrogance is actually him working damn hard to perfect a performance.

It's a real shame he's no longer on Strictly.

Speaking of Jayne, it always staggers me how year after year her and Chris come back in seemingly peak physical shape. They’re not getting any younger and it still seems so effortless - amazing!
