I did, not sure why the picture of Roy Keane got through to the final three.

LIZS · 16/02/2019 17:01

Showing again on Sky now.

The judges' decisions are always infathomable to me but this episode was particularly barmy.

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/02/2019 14:00

I agree, they seemed to reward one artist for having a stressful days painting. I'm also still fuming over the winner of last years landscape artist competition but that's a whole other thread.

Disfordarkchocolate · 19/02/2019 20:58

My favourite did get through to the final three again, I have no taste!

Disfordarkchocolate · 19/02/2019 21:23

*didn't

RedForShort · 24/03/2019 17:45

Was just looking for a thread on this- (watching this week's now). Feel like I have the wrong thread (Or I'm watching the wrong year) as I don't recall Roy Keane being on it at all!! Unless I missed some episodes, but I would happily swear hadn't!.

Though I will go with the idea that some of the judges choices are unfathomable. (Mind you one week I felt sorry for one of the sitters having to choose one as all of them were 'interesting'.)

FindaPenny · 24/03/2019 17:54

Redforshort, I think darkchocolate meant the painting of Matthew Goode looked more like Roy Keane..... Might be completely mistaken as I have been watching on catch up TV, so could be on completely wrong episode.

RedForShort · 24/03/2019 18:09

Ah!! That makes more sense (Though don't recollect it looking like Roy Keane I can completely believe I'd forget a painting, more than a sitter!!).

This week's episode - one of the paintings of Nitin Sawhney (painter from Lucan, Ireland) was horrible. I might even go as far as saying i though it was awful, yet they chose it in the final three. The Sophie Eliis Bexter one they chose wasn't too far behind in being weird either.

There was only one in the final three I though decent- was dreading that the announcement would leave be baffled!!

iklboo · 24/03/2019 18:14

Yes I'm often HmmShock at the judges' choices. That one of Nitin was laughable. Looked like a primary school child had painted it.

ChristineBaskets · 24/03/2019 18:15

Oh the one of Nitin was so awful, almost offensively so! It was like a horrible caricature. I know the one of Sophie you mean, it was ugly. I just can't fathom the judges' decisions at all.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 24/03/2019 18:16

Red are you talking Bout the o e that looked like a character from the Simpsons? Bloody awful.

Glad the best one was chosen as the winner.

iklboo · 24/03/2019 18:19

This one. It looked even worse when he'd finished it.

This is one of my favourites

RedForShort · 24/03/2019 18:27

Yes SissySpacekAteMyHamster!! That's exactly it - a Simpson's character. (As proved by the picture iklboo posted.)

QuiQuaiQuod · 25/03/2019 18:46

Red are you talking Bout the o ne that looked like a character from the Simpsons?
LOL! I thought the same!

love the one Ikboos put up.

Do you think the paintings look different on tv than in real life? I just don't get some of the judges choices.

Stephen Manghan doesn't seem to know much about art as much as Frank Skinner did, but he's brilliant ly funny nonetheless.

Sometimes IMO the 'amateurs' paintings are better than the 'professionals'.

iklboo · 25/03/2019 18:53

Watching this I realise I was not crap at art at school. I just had a 'naive style' and 'expressed my own layering of the medium'. Grin

RedForShort · 26/03/2019 22:33

Hmmmm. Today's final three did nothing for me at all. Obviously I'd be a rubbish art critic!

QuiQuaiQuod · 27/03/2019 13:44

Seriously??????????????????

The opainting's face disappeared into thwe background!!!!

Didn't like any of them this week.

iklboo · 28/03/2019 12:46

Well that was..........pants. Just goes to show what do I know about art.

RedForShort · 28/03/2019 15:06

They were all very A Level art I thought. (I know the winner was only 18, so hardly surprising her's would be like that).

I thought the watercolour one (not in final three) was good - though I think he needed more time so it was unfinished (as was one of the final three I thought!!)

RedForShort · 02/04/2019 22:21

Who the heck is the Daniel guy? I feel quite sorry for the artists who got it - he's made it multiple times harder with that outfit!!!

OneInAMillionYou · 04/04/2019 08:43

How beautiful was Jodie Comer ? I was transfixed by her face, that group of artists got lucky. I would have hated trying to paint that Daniel fellow.

RedForShort · 04/04/2019 08:53

Oh dear i just realised it looks like I refered to Daniel as 'It'. Wasn't, in my head I was thinking of the mad get up, just failed to mention it in text. Sorry!!!

Yes Jodie Cromer is stunning. That's some favourable bone structure she's got there so it's not just youth that is her beauty.

Lemonsquinky · 04/04/2019 14:40

I loved what Daniel was wearing. I thought he was brilliant. The picture of him that won, I loved, except the thin, uneven background. I found it really distracting and bled the richness of the actual scene. But I liked the idea of the two faces, as he has the character and the real Daniel. But the picture he chose got a better richness of colour.
