In the Guardian this morning. Cannot find an emoticon that displays what I think of this...and it is far too early for words.

oh no no no thats just not right!!! Will just keep waiting for her alter egos to kick in!

When does torchwood start again??

twentypence · 04/07/2007 08:52

I don't know if I can cope with her shouting, pouting, grouting (thick make up) act for an hour each week.

saltire · 04/07/2007 10:28

The forumers over at Digiatl Spy aren't happy either. One of them suggested petitioning the BBC to get it changed

Hels67 · 04/07/2007 10:28

Catherine Tate ???! What are they thinking?? Come back, Martha, all is forgiven...
CT is a fine comedian playing great characters in her show (for the first few viewings anyway - I find the characters very repetitive after a while), but will she be able to stop the over-the-top, over-acting behaviour she showed in the Christmas bride?

Eowyn · 04/07/2007 10:37

worst Dr Who decision everrrrrrrr
will make me hesitate to watch it unless she manages to suddenly be a good actress..

purplemonkeydishwasher · 04/07/2007 10:39

accroding to my prophetic dream I am supposed to be the next DrWho companion.
mememememememeMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Cappuccino · 04/07/2007 10:40

oh crap no really no no no no no

even dd1 wouldn't like her

fgs tis ridiculous how annoying

can't they just put John Sim in a dress or summat

now that would be worth watching

LittleBoot · 04/07/2007 10:40

Am I bovvered?

(Sorry. But no one else had said it yet. I sort of felt a social duty. Will get my coat.)

saltire · 04/07/2007 10:40

According to the Sun (so it must be right) she "has serious acting experience" because she trained at Central School of Speech and Drama in London!

Cappuccino · 04/07/2007 10:42

I hate Catherine Tate whatever she is in

and her interviews GOD she is so pseud

elliott · 04/07/2007 10:43

I think it would be interesting to have a male companion for a change!

LIZS · 04/07/2007 10:44

nto convinced if she keeps up that character tbh.

saltire · 04/07/2007 10:45

Yes, sonme one like er................................................................................................Ca ptain Jack would be good! Good on the eyes anyway

purplemonkeydishwasher · 04/07/2007 10:47

ooh yeah baby...

FrogPrincess · 04/07/2007 10:48

dh told me and I thought it was a joke
a bad joke, but a joke
arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I cannot stand her, dh hates her, it's gonna be a loooong series
wasn't too thrilled with the Kylie choice, but hey, now it sounds like a genius move.
why oh why Tate????????
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I bet you David Tennant leaves at the end of the next series

purplemonkeydishwasher · 04/07/2007 10:49

noooOOOOO he CAN'T leave!

i love him!

Cappuccino · 04/07/2007 10:50

she was dreadful as that bride

saltire · 04/07/2007 10:51

I've had a better idea. David Tennant as the Doctor, John Barrowman as the companion, and me being well, me!

edam · 04/07/2007 10:52

Hmm. Not sure about this one. And very odd career move for her - why go from having your own show to playing second fiddle?

Would have preferred Sally Sparrow, tbh.

FrogPrincess · 04/07/2007 10:52

in that case can we have rufus wainwright as special guest please
that would be something

glitterfairy · 04/07/2007 10:56

That has ruined things now. Martha was getting on my nerves because of all the sopp I love the doctor stuff but really though it might change now. On no not CT I loathed her as the bride really harsh and screechy.

UnquietDad · 04/07/2007 15:16

Some other TV casting news which seems to have been "buried" today...

here!

doughnuts · 04/07/2007 15:18

dh very upset at this news - he can't bear her

doughnuts · 04/07/2007 15:20

UnquietDad - that's exciting news - love Gene (I'm having hoops) Hunt

finknottle · 04/07/2007 15:35

Still true, then? No Time Vortex Triple Reverse Clock-turning KKKawammmm - back to yesterday and it did. not. happen. ?
I admit I was at David Tennant when he took over from Ecclestone. Esp as he was asleep for most of it & then running around in striped pyjamas fighting a Star Trekky Klingon lookalike in a big skirt on the edge of a disused quarry. Not the sleekest of entrances.
But, I now think he is the best doctor ever - and a terrific actor. So how can it be that RTD got it so wrong? He knows best, surely???
