Agree on all of the above.

JustDanceAddict · 09/02/2019 15:06

Lol at HS2 woman - that’s hysterical!

blamethecat · 09/02/2019 15:35

DS (5 1/2 years old so knows everything !) told DP off for saying 'Haitch' Grin, DS is very particular about a lot of things and is not afraid to say it.

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2019 15:59

meet I agree on that one too....whenever heard DH and I both yell (or growl, depending on circumstances) "invitation"!

FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2019 16:00

blame give DS2 a medal!

FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2019 16:01

DS, not DS2. I have had my head turned by the horror of HS2 woman.

toldmywrath · 09/02/2019 17:06

Oh that's shocking about the HS 2 woman. We've got a sports reporter on our local radio station who says NHL as " en haitch ell" I have to run to turn him down. It'd be so much easier for him to say aitch.
Well done miniblame keep up the good work!

Raahh · 09/02/2019 18:47

Oh, spotting everyone this week!

Juuuuuuuliaaa (Diane Keen) is on Pointless celebrities. Grin

Raahh · 09/02/2019 18:48

(And I've shocked myself by googling and realising it is nearly 7 years since she left The Mill) Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/02/2019 21:40

7 years? Flaming Nora. Mind you, I got a little jolt the other day when they mentioned Mrs T had been in the show 8 years. On this thread we've been together not only through those 8 years but through the Vivian, Ruth and Donna years too. Made me feel old.

Raahh · 09/02/2019 21:52

Anne it's scary, isn't it.
Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/02/2019 21:56

Yep. Our life can be measured in Doctors' receptionist eras.

Smotheroffive · 09/02/2019 22:01

red dds also said though that it would good to socialise to get behind what's going on, and maybe hear things you wouldn't hear in work....so, naice!

Raahh · 09/02/2019 22:02

Anne that is so true.

Dd2 is currently obsessed with old episodes of Horrible Histories.
Martha Howe Douglas is obviously in it a lot. Donna was my favourite receptionist.Grin

Raahh · 09/02/2019 22:04

Donna left in 2007, btw.

2007!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/02/2019 22:05

I love the old Horrible Histories. Donna was my favourite too. My obsession with Doctors and HH obviously triggers some sort of algorithm on Facebook because I always get Martha Howe-Douglas as a "person you may know" friend suggestion!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/02/2019 22:06

2007????

Raahh · 09/02/2019 22:12

Anne the fb thing is funny.

I was cross at how they got rid of Donna- they totally changed her character, in order for the leaving storyline( about her son, iirc) to work. It just seemed wrong.

Not that they don't do that all the timeGrin

Pencilmuseum · 09/02/2019 22:13

Raah - I saw Julia on Pointless Celebs as well and was a bit confused as to why Robin Askwith thought he had to dress up like Mick Jagger.
re Doctors - DSF is as wooden as a simile which escapes me and makes the rest of them look almost competent. She will be trouble.
Fed up of Al's whimsical fairy Larping.

Smotheroffive · 09/02/2019 22:16

*DFS (not dds). Also, bit of info about 'aitch' n 'haitch' I know it doesn't apply in most cases, certainly not with some of my friends growing up that adopted the stupid 'haitch' thing, but it is the way the Irish say it, according to some on the Irish contingent on MN, I lived and learnt!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 09/02/2019 22:26

Yes Donna was robbed. Others have done far worse and got away with it. She would never have shared confidential information anyway, it was the total opposite of what her character would do.

Raahh · 09/02/2019 22:29

Anne I agree. it was just not her.

It did feel a bit forced, so she could leave. Never felt genuine, even for Doctors.

FuzzyPuffling · 10/02/2019 10:47

I know nothing of these early receptionists (new recruit to docTors) but boast regarding Horrible Histories. I met Terry Deary (who wrote them) and he's super-lovely.

MadisonAvenue · 10/02/2019 12:42

My earliest memory of a receptionist was Joanna, pretty sure the actress (whose name escapes me) went on to be a receptionist in Casualty too.

SubisYodrethwhenLarping · 10/02/2019 13:32

I am being followed around internet by very very irritating D F S adverts so from now on I am going to called her DF GrinGrinGrin
