Anyone watching?

Actual farming, little Robert Sugden, young looking Pollard, Chris Tate, Seth Armstrong...

I'm always looking at the houses too and comparing them to their present day counterparts and checking which doors and staircases have changed direction Grin (I know they're not even the same houses!)

Regarding houses, something thats been bugging me:

Betty rents her cottage but in years to come she then sells it to Victoria, how come?

The Dingles are squatting but in years to come they own the house

odd

JaneJeffer · 30/04/2020 12:23

Didn't Joe Tate try to evict the Dingles by knocking down a wall of their house? Does that mean it still belongs to Home Farm?

Did Kim attack Nick with the horse? I've missed a few but I do remember a very fake looking horse's leg whapping him on the skull first time around.

I know Terry is a letch but the Tina/Pollard exchange when she wanted to use his bathroom < boak> on both sides of that coin.

JaneJeffer · 30/04/2020 14:29

She did. Then she let the horses out and pretended Nick had done it and gotten trampled by them.

Marlon doesn't perv over girls who are still at school and tell their father he'll be with them soon enough. Yuck.

I meant more in terms of how the scriptwriters will put him with any single woman anywhere within a 20-25 year block, regardless of whether they’re his type or vice versa. Just as we’re expected to believe Donna, Laurel, Carly and Jessie would all fall for Marlon, Terry’s relationships with Dawn Hope and her mother, via Tricia and Brenda, were all supposed to be equally believable.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 30/04/2020 22:55

Betty rents her cottage but in years to come she then sells it to Victoria, how come?

When Lady Tara takes over Home Farm she tries to evict her (and Seth). Biff, who is shagging Tara at the time in a pound shop version of Lady Chatterly’s Lover, buys the house in his name out of guilt because Seth and Betty are too old to get a mortgage. When Seth dies, Biff gifts her the cottage.

JaneJeffer · 30/04/2020 23:00

I loved Marlon and Tricia together. It was so sad when she died.

When do Lady Tara and her drippy Husband ( I think Lord Alec ?) appear on the scene?

I scrolled ahead on the TV guide , it is Christmas in the next couple of weeks ( I know they'd only just had Bonfire Night Grin ) but there's no Christmas Day episode !
Shabby !

In the Golden Years of Soap we had lunch time and evening episodes on Christmas Day -we had to see the full misery of a Soap Christmas

(this was in the early Noughties )

JaneJeffer · 01/05/2020 13:18

I remember Viv somehow ending up spending Christmas Day with the Dingles one year. It was very funny.

I wish Chris and Rachel would stop kissing.

OP posts:
ScarletPower · 06/05/2020 20:25

@JaneJeffer - I'm finding Chris and Rachel's relationship to be more believable than Kim and Dave's. There's no sexual chemistry at all between them.

The continuity in the hospital scene was terrible lol - Kim had a hoarse voice - went home - saw Dave (no hoarse voice) then back in the hospital she was hoarse again.

JaneJeffer · 07/05/2020 00:09

The writing for Dave is very strange. We don’t know how he feels about anything. He doesn’t seem to feel any guilt about what he’s doing and just told Kim he loves her because he thinks the baby is his. He loved Kathy last week Hmm. The way he was looking at Home Farm the other night I think that’s what he really loves. The women don’t want him for his personality!

I am a bit behind, but wow Kim wot a bitch, threatening a child's life! Cannot remember her being this evilGrin

ScarletPower · 08/05/2020 12:11

@JaneJeffer - LOL, Sam Dingle - a Visionary!!!

IMO looking back now, Ian Kelsey was too old to be cast as Dave Glover - Dave was meant to be 20-21 years old but he was played by a 27-year-old. Kim's character says she was born in 1959 so she'd have been 36 and Kathy in 1965 so she'd have been 30. The age gap between Ian Kelsey and the two actresses doesn't look anywhere near what it was meant to be.

Just had a look at the Biff actor's DOB and in the classic episodes streaming now, he would have been 26 at the time, but I think he was playing a 19-20 year old.

I know we have hard winters oop North but still!

ScarletPower · 08/05/2020 12:12

@Dragonscale - I think they've been gradually nastying up her character over a couple of months - I actually was shocked when she was deliberately trampling Nick Bates' head with the horses hooves! That was brutal.

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2020 14:45

Nice tribute to Archie. I miss him.

threatening a child's life
Didn't she give Alice a doll with the eyes poked out (or did I dream that?)

I remember the publicity department lied about Ian Kelsey’s age at the time too. Add in that Claire King is about five years younger than Kim (although I think they fudge that in modern episodes) and the age gap is much less in real life.

It was hilarious when Biff first came in it as a sixth former. He looked older than some of the teachers!

JaneJeffer · 12/05/2020 14:03

Is that Nellie gone then? Poor Sam.

OP posts:
cherrytree63 · 13/05/2020 06:42

I want to mother Sam. Nellie does come back briefly, I think when Lisa is living there.
Is Uncle Albert Zak's brother? As he hasnt got a biblical name.
I felt sorry for Chris.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 13/05/2020 13:10

He is. I don’t think they were as full-on with the biblical names in the early days - hence the likes of Marlon, Mandy and Tina.
