Who else is watching?

I missed first 15 mins and desperately trying to catch up (don't have iPlayer). Either I missed a season or there a several new faces!

If anyone could give a brief recap I'd appreciate it.

And that scene where Jack was collecting evidence off the toilet floor. He chose to lie down all sqooshed up inside the cubicle but the bit he was collecting was outside the cubicle so he needn't have gone in the cubicle. Bizarre shot. DH and I were pissing ourselves by this point.

hopeishere · 10/01/2019 17:47

Not to mention all the trampling over evidence and looking at clothes on their office desks and not in a sterile environment!! Cross contamination central. No wonder he lyall is in trouble!!!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 10/01/2019 20:27

I remember the female police officer actress from London’s Burning years ago. Just googled her and saw she’s been in loads of stuff but things I don’t watch.

2rebecca · 11/01/2019 20:21

I loved House of Elliot and have the DVDs. Why haven't they rerun it? Good acting, beautiful dresses, complex love tangles. What's not to like? I so wanted to be Evie, despite being a gangly redheaded socially awkward teenager.

2rebecca · 11/01/2019 20:23

They can bring back Love for Lydia too.

hopeishere · 15/01/2019 16:00

Watched again last night. Definite improvement on the previous series.

cheapskatemum · 15/01/2019 21:15

No way could teachers afford that beautiful house in London!

DoTheCabinetShuffle · 15/01/2019 21:31

Anyone watching tonight? The male police officer is a terrible actor! So unrealistic too pushing Faith’s dad for info about possibility of his kids being drug users as Jack was searching his deceased daughters bedroom 🙄

Tiptopj · 15/01/2019 22:10

I really enjoyed this story- well written and very moving. I agree about the male detective though- awful acting.

RedForShort · 15/01/2019 22:25

Once TV once they are in a ‘profession’ they live in a fancy house. It’s broadcasting law.

I couldn’t figure out if he was a bad actor or if he was supposed to be social awkward and low on empathy.

I did enjoy it, but agree re the police officer, and some of the other acting a bit stilted too. I'm also a little tired of being preached at all the time. I got the messages about both ends of the drug supply chain, casual racism, sexual harassment and miscarriages of justice... all valid, but quite a lot of themes and quite a lot of hammering on them!

I feel snarky writing that because I did enjoy the episode. But I feel that too much TV is going a bit like the Duchess in Alice in Wonderland: everything has to have a moral.

mydogisthebest · 15/01/2019 23:07

I found Samantha Janus' lips so distracting. She looks so silly now.

It annoys me so much that the pathologists do so much of the police work, even going on a house raid with them. I am pretty sure they don't in real life.

hopeishere · 16/01/2019 07:20

These guys seem like a hybrid of pathology and SOCO.

The house was big but shabby.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/01/2019 07:24

It was a very depressing storyline (and very high body count even by Silent Witness standards) but one of the best ones I've seen in recent years. Love the dynamic between Thomas and Clarissa.

MarchInHappiness · 16/01/2019 09:41

Yes I really enjoyed last nights episodes, vast improvement on last week. Loved the hug between Jack and Clarissa.

IF Nikki is pregnant that would be cool, but I am extremely disappointed that it won't be Harry's baby :( still not over him leaving

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 16/01/2019 09:45

Oops Jack not Thomas

Rkay2 · 16/01/2019 10:07

I wasn’t too impressed. The school based stuff was awful. So unrealistic. The school would never allow free access on site to anyone for example.

And the girl going home to check the post - surely the mum would have checked the post when it came in and let the daughter know if there was a letter?

And the head didn’t know that one of his pupils died and he was the one making the absence phonecall?

I usually am a very big fan of silent witness. Couldn’t even watch the second episode

InternetRandomer · 16/01/2019 14:39

I think (personally) it would be far more plausible if instead of being forensic scientists they were in some sort of made up new dept where they did forensics alongside SOCO stuff and assisted on the police investigations - so pretty much what they do now but as an actual (fictional) role. Forensic investigators? Dunno. It’s daft how they are portrayed at the mo.

I did enjoy this weeks episodes though.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 16/01/2019 16:07

For me it’s gone too far in to showing the deaths actually happen instead of the post-mortem side of things. That seems to be very much a side story now.

BitOfFun · 16/01/2019 20:14

I'm just catching up with last night's episode. Only a few minutes in, but my word, how bloody ridiculous! I'd like to think that there's NO WAY that professionals would be so judgemental in a group of colleagues, and certainly not with a bereaved family.

I haven't seen much of the show before, but I don't think I'll invest any more time in it.

BitOfFun · 16/01/2019 20:16

And as for the Samantha Womack sexual harassment crap, it's beyond ridiculous.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/01/2019 12:54

Jack is a bit of a lone wolf (romantically), isn't he?

Ontheboardwalk · 22/01/2019 21:45

Anyone still watching?

Tonight’s episode seems to have been on for 3 hours 24 minutes as I’m sat watching it

Luckyme2 · 22/01/2019 23:20

I think I'm done with It! These last 2 episodes were awful

KitchenDancefloor · 23/01/2019 00:13

"And this episode's award for 'person delivering their lines like a 7 year old in a nativity play' goes to..."

Drum roll...

"...unconvincing lettjngs agent."
