Yes GC is there for entertainment value - that's why she was invited on show. And she is entertaining - I liked her Marilyn Monroe dance. Doesn't mean she's up for Jason's nastyness.

Susiesoap7 · 21/01/2019 09:49

GC. Just wants to be famous, what for I just don't know!

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 21/01/2019 10:33

Good to see Gemma standing up to Jason and quite right to pull him up telling stories about her last week in the papers. He doesn't critique - he trashes - and can dish it but can't take it. Very unpleasant judge*

You mean proce him exactly right by behaving like a complete little brat sjouting and screaming repeating the same thing constantly and basically knowing that she was going to get votes thaf meant that Richard who shouldnt have been in the sjate off went home - yeah so good to see that!!!

And oh by the way he didnt "sell a story" he was asked his oppinion in typucal jasom way, thats why itv employ him.

He does actally know what je is talking about, and i have a very personal reason for not liking him, but on DOI i've met him, i appicate that he skates etc.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 21/01/2019 10:36

The POINT OF THE SHOW IS TO LEARN TO ICE SKATE. The entertainment comes form people learning a new skill not a over grown baby shouting abd screaming something that wasnt even true repeatedly

Thats not entettainment.

If you find that entertaining i'm sure thetes a lot of mums on here that need their toddler minding for a few hours

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 10:39

Gemma is doing exactly what ITV wants to get people talking about DOI and that's the bottom line. They know what she's like and Holly bitching about her is all part of the plan.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 10:41

Doing a bit of shouting there yourself Naught Grin

Honeyroar · 21/01/2019 11:32

But she clearly hadn't been turning up for practices, everyone was making snide references to it and she obviously hadn't improved. Even she wittered on about being too emotional and upset to turn up. So they weren't lying in what they were criticising her for.. And her smug "see, my fans will save me" face when she wasn't voted out annoyed me too. And I'm not a Holly, Phil or Jason fan either, but agreed with them this time.

Blobby10 · 21/01/2019 12:25

Can someone tell me how soon after the contestants have skated the dance off takes place? I only watched it briefly last night but noticed that one contestant had lost the very heavy make up/costume he wore during his skate - beauty and the beast?

purplelass · 21/01/2019 12:35

Can someone tell me how soon after the contestants have skated the dance off takes place?

Isn't it live?

Allergictoironing · 21/01/2019 13:08

It's live, and as they do a different routine for the skate off the Beast make up wasn't appropriate.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 21/01/2019 14:39

Yes jane because i'm passionate about the show i actally have known many of the skaters. I mean the pros, including matt, for a very long time

Also it might have escaped your notice im not an over paid cekebrity shouting about things that arent actually true to keep.myself earning money i dont deserve at the expence of people who can skate better and are taking the show fir what its meant to be

kittykarate · 21/01/2019 14:52

I was bit torn on who got eliminated - do they just base it on the save me skate, or their body of work?

If it was on all their previous skates and potential, I agree it should have been Richard to stay. However, I thought his save me skate was very poor in terms of actual skating. He didn't seem to hit any edges properly, yes he did lifts but it all looked wobbly. Saira's save me skate (whilst heavily assisted) actually looked smooth and she did get some edges.

I think the push to do tricks/lifts on both the female and male celebrities is actually detrimental to their skating quality. There were some points in Richard's skate where they went for 1 move too many in a lift, so he had basically drifted to a halt.

Has anyone read Matej's blog ? He was a pro on a previous season so is probably in the market for a job again so isn't too mean, but he does rate routines on their actual skating. www.matejsilecky.me/blog/2019/1/20/tx-3-judging-musicals-week-dance-ten-looks-three-a-chorus-line

Welshgal1 · 21/01/2019 15:09

Just caught up - had to miss the second half last night. How awful that Richard went before Gemma! I don't rate her as a person at all but even putting that to one side, skating wise - she deserved to leave the competition before anybody else who competed this week. Have a feeling her fans are going to put her through week after week and lots of deserving contestants will lose out because of it. Shame.

'The POINT OF THE SHOW IS TO LEARN TO ICE SKATE.'

If the criteria was as black and white as that why would ITV invite Gemma onto the show? They all know who she is and what she has to offer the show. Good ratings for a start. She's up for the piss being taken out of her but Jason crosses the line. He's too nasty.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 21/01/2019 16:39

Why do they do a separate 'save me' skate? Wouldn't it be easier to stay in costume/make up and repeat the skate from the main programme a la Strictly?

(Ignoring the faux 'live' Sat/Sun shenanigans on Strictly)

It seems a lot to have to rehearse and remember two routines on the offchance you might be in the skate off. Particularly in the early weeks. Think I'd prefer them to focus their efforts on the one routine and really nail the moves Confused

Doesn't make for great viewing watching under-rehearsed routines.
Or maybe do the odd group skate routine for a bit of filler but not every week...

Are they allowed to keep their potentially un-needed save-me skate and music from week to week? Or do the producers assign them new music every week?! If someone was continually in the skate-off and was saved every time they'd surely have to keep renewing their skate-off music and routine every week? Seems a bit unfair and requires extra practise hours if everyone else has an un-aired save-me skate up their sleeve that's been practised to perfection x-weeks running!

Feel like I'm missing something Grin

Inkanta · 21/01/2019 16:46

'If you find that entertaining i'm sure thetes a lot of mums on here that need their toddler minding for a few hours'

Yes, I was amused and entertained by Gemma's Marilyn Monroe performance. I admit I broke into smile even. Not sure what my toddler's got to do with it. Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 21/01/2019 16:47

It's not a professional competition - and therefore you are always going to have people at a different starting level, with different advantages either performance, acting, athleticism or dance/blading/hockey experience - to claim it is purely about skating is the same as saying Strictly is purely about dancing. That's just not the case hence the Todd Cartys and Ann Widdecombes of the process (I supported neither but it's not rocket science to point out the dynamics of how a reality comp works).
As for Jason - maybe someone can put me straight - if he was paid for an exclusive interview with The Sun, that is not the same as an interview on GMTV where he is promoting the show/is asked an opinion and Gemma just happens to come up when they look at the ringers versus the duffers - rather he is being paid by the tabloid for a 'scoop' knowing full well what headline the soundbite he is being paid for will lead to. Surely?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 21/01/2019 16:58

Not sure what my toddler's got to do with it

Because you said it was nice to see her sticking up to jason. she wasnt sticking up to jason she was behaving like an over grown toddler with a strop on refising to listen to him yelling a complete and utter lie about him "selling stories" on her repeatedly not lustening to him say i didnt sell stories on you, in fact was like "i wouldnt have been so upset and i would have turned up to practice if you hadnt sold stories.
And jason and tje journalist involved have both said that jason didnt sell any storys on gemma at all
Gemma you over grown toddler no one sold a bloody story on you and your being paid a hell of a lot of money to go to practice! So do so and dont stand at the side of the rink yelling lies at judges. If ypu dont like being judged dear your in the wromg profession and definately on the wrong ahow.

And yes its going to have different levels but people like Ryan, stephen gately in tje past, lauran goodier, even todd actuslly have gone on the show to learn. Not to shout at the panel and behave like over grown toddlers

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 17:14

Naught I can't actually see you. You could be Holly Willoughby for all I know! Anyway I get you love skating but ITV don't care about skating. They only care about ratings and advertising revenue. Otherwise they would air professional skating instead of getting celebrities to skate.

Inkanta · 21/01/2019 17:25

Naught - I was fine with her shouting back at Jason. He's met his match. Are you going to shout some more? Grin

MorningsEleven · 21/01/2019 17:29

How about we have a cup of tea and a hobnob and watch ?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 21/01/2019 17:40

Do you know what ink he hasnt met his match, his match qould ge some one who answered him sensiably and truthfully like ashley did the other week when he firmly went jason my turn.

Gemma lied - thats what got her through.

Not acceptable

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 21/01/2019 17:48

Yes jane i get that, of course its about ratings wes's weird comment about the DOI curse, meghan's fairky bizarre rantings, james jordan was simply selected because of his history with judges good tv him and jason butting heads, jokes about brians wives, mikey graham doing the show stephen had done two years before just months after stephen died, ray quinns magically disappearing footage of him skating on x factor, hayley tammadon being a childhood friend of daniel whistons, putting sylyvan with georgie porter when georgie was best friends with the girl he dumped for samia, yeah yeah good tv aint it brilliant

Heres the diffence, they dont scream and shout and balantly lie

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 21/01/2019 18:36

Hobnob accepted, MorningsEleven. Aren't they fabulous?!

I forgot James Jordan had rehearsed with Torvill and Dean in the past Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/01/2019 19:05

I thought that Gemma’s behaviour was utterly disgraceful. She has already amply demonstrated her lack of class, and I am beyond appalled that enough people voted for her that she was safe. I can only assume they are hoping for more car crash TV from her.
