Will anyone be watching this new Dance programme on BBC1 on Saturday evenings?!

The judges (although they call them Dance Tutors or something very silly) are the bloke from Glee, frozen-face Cheryl and Oti from Strictly (who I love!)

Hoping @Raahh is around and all the XF gang!

I will deffo be watching particularly as back in the day, I used to work for ITV and used to go round my area judging Disco Dancing competitions. Those were the days, it's over 30 years ago!

Sorry Behold I do a very few prescribed links now, my ancient laptop can't cope with any more Grin Thank you anyway Grin

ref. Cheryl, the really sad thing is that she is a beauty under all that slap.

Walney · 07/01/2019 10:41

What a weird show, I was only watching it for the Strictly references and dancing, and Oti is just wonderful. But its just weird and felt very cheap to make, I don't understand how the amazing ballet dancer didn't get through but they guy who just wanted to meet Cheryl did, he was awful and just bedroom dancing with no skill whatsoever. Not sure i'll watch again except if i'm bored, upset because i'd love to see more of Oti, her choreography on Strictly is amazing and she's great. If this is what a Simon Cowell type show is like i'm glad i've never watched one before.

Andrew was great though.

People don't 'get' ballet in the same way they do other dance styles - a technically demanding classical variation isn't going to get an audience like that jumping to their feet and whooping and cheering is it? It is an exacting art form and isn't going to appeal to everyone.

After he didn't get through they showed a clip of the audience being told off, so that would have gone down like a lead balloon...

So obviously they were going to vote for the bloke who wanted to meet Cheryl. One - for the sympathy vote and because he seemed genuinely likeable, and Two - because the audience didn't like being told who to vote for.

@waywardfruit, they showed two particular members of the audience, who were very sneering about the dance, and arrogant in their response to being told why the audience may not appreciate the artistry and technical demand of the performance.

Walney ref. a cheap show. I reckon that wall that opened into the stage\studio must have cost more than a million alone.

mogloveseggs · 08/01/2019 11:05

Watched it again eith the dc last night. They loved it but dd 14 was not happy about the ballet dancer not getting through, but then again she loved the cheryl fan Confused

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2019 11:58

Yup as I reckoned it's aimed squarely at the yoof. It's an insult to them too.

waywardfruit · 08/01/2019 14:11

xsquared Really? I must have nodded off missed that bit.

xsquared · 08/01/2019 18:44

Found the on youtube. It's around 4:35 ish when Matthew says "I wish I had an override button" and the girl says "No. We have the power".

waywardfruit · 08/01/2019 22:30

News reaches me from elsewhere that Cheryl's ballet credentials may have been... er... how can I put this tactfully?

Nope. I can't think of a way to put it tactfully so I shan't bother Grin

Oh well, who cares anyway?

BeholdTheNewTablecloth · 09/01/2019 19:46

Whilst I did not like the show itself I am nonetheless profoundly grateful that it led to me to the track Ellie danced to....In this shirt by the irrepressibles. Just beautiful.

KitchenDancefloor · 10/01/2019 23:05

Just caught up with this from the weekend. Nothing constructive to add but I couldn't pass by without blowing a few luvvie-style air kisses at the Strictly crew.

Till September darlinks! (Mwah, mwah)
