I think it's a stylistic choice- he's deliberately not got a plummy RP accent, he's a working man.

Dominic West is from Sheffield but he went to Eton, so I don't think that's his natural accent.

And being an actor he is presumably doing the accent he's been asked to do regardless of where he's from.

This is ep 1 of 6.
I'd say they're about 10 minutes in to the film equivalent so I'm a bit surprised the ep wasn't 90 mins.

Les Misérables virgin here as not read it or seen any of the film or stage versions, but enjoyed the first episode so will continue to watch Smile

I guess they had to take their time setting up everyone's backstory. I am enjoying it so far. Beautifully shot.

Looking good to me. Dominic West is very good, and I loved the Derek Jacobi part. Why are people surprised DW has a Northern accent, his character could hardly have a posh voice, and a French accent would sound ridiculous.
