Unfortunately, according to Sharon Marshall - tv critic and Emmerdale script writer - on This Morning today, Joe is alive but Ned not returning.

Previously she'd said he was dead so I'd take anything she says with a huge pinch of salt.

I saw that Raffles. To be honest, I'm happy knowing that he's alive and that Cain will presumably learn the truth. Graham is unbelievably disgusting to torment Cain and Debbie like that. I've gone right off him.

Between one thing and another they made a complete balls of the whole Joe Tate story. I'm just glad for Noah's sake that he's still alive.

It probably did but even before that Kim's return changed Graham's back-story. Joe targeting Debbie never made sense anyway. As you say Princess the whole thing was badly thought out!

I didn't think this Joe/Cain/Graham/Kim farce could get any more ridiculous but it has! Why is there now a big plan to destroy Cain? Surely making him think he's a murderer is enough. Absolute stupid writing from the writers. Emmerdale used to be leagues ahead in it's storylines but everything is now about how ludicrous a story they can come up with.
