The general manager used to be at Claridge's and was in their version of this programme too - did anyone watch it?

VillanellesHairPin · 06/12/2018 20:06

Grin yes - I love it when someone's talking and they pan back to his face. And he is like WTF? or absolutely horrified.

Yes I’m watching, I’m always fascinated by big London hotels.

whatsthestory123 · 06/12/2018 20:43

i wonder how much Thomas gets paid ??

whatsthestory123 · 06/12/2018 20:49

oh dear that could be akward if Thomas dosent like the sculptures

JuneFromBethesda · 06/12/2018 20:50

I’m watching. I can’t believe the restaurant sculptures are by Tom Kerridge’s wife - how’s that for nepotism!??

JuneFromBethesda · 06/12/2018 20:51

I do like her laugh though Grin

whatsthestory123 · 06/12/2018 20:51

i know i did giggle at that to

whatsthestory123 · 06/12/2018 20:52

the mans obsessed with crockery

JuneFromBethesda · 06/12/2018 20:53

Is the sculpture supposed to be a headless man??

MaraScottie · 06/12/2018 20:55

Fascinated by how the other half live. People's ability and desire to spend that type of money on things like a 22k suite just baffles me.

I remember that Clariges program too, that manager is very likeable but my god he's so particular!

whatsthestory123 · 06/12/2018 20:59

Clariges was great, yes very particular nothing seems to get past him

i bet he lives in a minamliist appartment

VillanellesHairPin · 06/12/2018 21:00

I would pay for someone NOT to unpack my suitcase for me, I would hate that.

I love these kind of programs, the Claridges one was great. What an insight into how the other half live!

I also want to know how much Thomas gets paid and his home situation. I wondered if he might live at the hotel?

purpleme12 · 08/12/2018 12:53

I always think Thomas has a look of disdain on him all the time. (I know it's just his normal face)

I don't know how they do it. I just couldn't be bothered to take the household duties with such seriousness with every little thing just right

The80sweregreat · 08/12/2018 13:59

It's fascinating , but I also do get ' the rage' that there is so much wealth around yet the majority of us would never be able to go to afford to stay hotel on a month of sundays! ( I know it's how it is, but the inequality gets me down)
Who would notice if the saucer wasn't level with the napkin? Who would really care?
I can imagine some of the people staying here are really horrible and entitled.
I feel sorry for the staff!

purpleme12 · 08/12/2018 14:00

Exactly who would care about those things

And yet Thomas send to notice the littlest of things

whatsthestory123 · 08/12/2018 14:31

and the room maids etc will be poorly paid

The80sweregreat · 08/12/2018 15:20

The maid last week who hinted she was once minted and now not was interesting.
Wonder what went on there? Very odd

whatsthestory123 · 08/12/2018 15:34

yes if that was me i would be weeping onto the sheets

HockStock · 08/12/2018 15:39

A career suited to a perfectionist.

The maid last week who hinted she was once minted and now not was interesting.

She went too far discussing her fleet of cars.

The80sweregreat · 08/12/2018 15:47

I would be useless at that job ; I can't get uptight over a saucer out of place!

starlight45 · 08/12/2018 16:23

She said they lost the money gambling. I find Thomas fascinating. I want to know more about him and what he is like on the inside. I can't decide if he's autistic. As he has exacting standards, notices details, he watches people rather than jumping in, he is obsessed with getting the service just right and I think is rather socially awkward. Me and ds1 are autistic and often play 'spot the autistic person', like we belong to a secret club! I think rich people who have been rich for some time will notice the tiniest thing that isn't quite right. They're used to being treated with very high standards. I'd notice the plate /food/table lining up.

DarlingNikita · 08/12/2018 16:44

Haven't watched this yet but am looking forward to it. I didn't know about a Claridges one! Wonder if it's still available? There's currently one about Cliveden, too, which is really good.
