The Clique Series 2

Just discovered series 2 of this iPlayer only series started a couple of weeks ago. Series 1 was a year ago about a group of girls who worked as interns for a company with a charismatic feminist.
Series 2 is set in Edinburgh uni where Holly is having another go at uni. Like series 1 no-one seems very real, everyone is slim and attractive and the students have very posh flats. It's fun to watch and fast paced though and a bit of feminist me too versus a group of men's activist type lads

Good music although the music overpowered the voices in Ep 1. Just spent a while googling the song at the end of Ep 3. Pissing in a river Patti Smith

I'm up to date. Plotline is interesting as wonder what stance it will take.

mizu · 01/12/2018 10:55

Love that Patti Smith song. Watching this as quite liked the 1st series. Quite liking this too as not sure where it's going either.

ASauvignonADay · 01/12/2018 12:52

I'm just on episode 2 now. Enjoying it so far.

pantyclaws · 02/12/2018 10:44

Found it! I've just bumped the series 1 thread, sorry.

Watched ep4 last night, did anyone notice the white coats? A case of mistaken identity maybe?

I'm quite enjoying Rachel as the ridiculous psychopath. It's all a bit Silence of the Lambs when she has to ask him for help solving crimes.

When's the next one - today?

2rebecca · 02/12/2018 11:06

I'm enjoying it but it's becoming increasingly unbelievable. I think the writer needs to rein in the bonkers plot line a bit. Also why do people keep telling the adult with blackouts to see his mum rather than a doctor?

It's totally unbelievable or perhaps I was an even tamer student than I thought I was! Good way to pass half an hour though.

pantyclaws · 02/12/2018 20:38

Yes it's totally OTT isn't it. But I suppose that's part of the appeal for me. I live in a town with lots of wealthy students and see a fair amount of people who look and to an extent act like the characters in it. Just mostly without the violence.

I have a few theories about the toilet scene in the club, anyone else?!

Carbsnomarbs · 02/12/2018 20:56

I just noticed this on iplayer, loved the first season

2rebecca · 02/12/2018 20:59

It wasn't the bloke she thinks it is, whose name I've forgotten. My husband thinks the rapist had weedy arms and is maybe the dead attacked friend but I wouldn't have thought he could overpower her although she was off her head. The ? adoptive brother is another possibility but the arms looked too scrawny. Seems odd she thought it was the hunky bloke when he'd just rejected her and she didn't see him.

My money's on Ben.

NoFoxGiven · 04/12/2018 16:30

Just finished episode 4 and my money is also on Ben. He was a computer science lecturer and he has something to gain manipulating everyone for his new misogynistic political party.

MissEliza · 04/12/2018 19:10

I've just finished it too and I was thinking Ben as well. But did Jack actually rape Rayna?

pantyclaws · 05/12/2018 22:45

Who knows MissEliza but personally I don't think so. I think it was Ben who is clearly a nasty piece of work.

Kimi88 · 06/12/2018 14:18

I don't think Jack did it. I think they got their wires crossed at the end of the last episode. I think he thinks that she knows something else about his past, perhaps something to do with his brother having that scar? I believe if it was Jack they'd have shown his face. I don't fully trust his brother either :/ Keeps you guessing this one...

MissEliza · 06/12/2018 15:26

I think it's better than the first series. Also makes me glad I'm not a student in this day and age.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/12/2018 15:06

I've just watched episode 5 and there's a hell of a plot twist! It's completely over the top as a series but weirdly compelling. Am even more convinced now that it wasn't Jack who raped Rayna and he's going to turn out to be the victim of someone else's machinations. If it had been Jack, there'd be no reason not to show the rapist's face.

NoFoxGiven · 08/12/2018 21:30

I think it was Calum who raped Rayna and I also think he stabbed himself to get that scar. I really do wonder about his relationship with his foster mother, Agnes, before all this stuff with Jack. I think Jack is generally the victim in this too. Unfortunately, although this is an extreme representation, I think this is how mysogynistic groups really do tend to start and thrive.

pantyclaws · 09/12/2018 07:09

Ooh will try to watch episode 5 tonight! Intrigued to find out what plot twist is

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 09/12/2018 07:56

Yes, do watch ep 5 so we can talk about it!

Literally no-one I know in RL even knows this exists, never mind watches it. I knew I could rely on MN!

I am v worried about Jack...

pantyclaws · 09/12/2018 19:08

Haha - for you, I'll watch it ;)

I'm literally twice the age of all the characters, no idea why I'm into it really.

NoFoxGiven · 09/12/2018 21:07

Think I posted this before I watched to the end. I mean, bloody hell, do you think Agnes is in on something. What's her deal?!

pantyclaws · 09/12/2018 21:56

SPOILER ALERT Trying to be vague...

So this is my theory: I don't think she's in on anything except an dodgy relationship which I reckon has been going on a while (maybe the real cause of the scar??). Is there extreme jealousy at play? I also feel like the phone recording was somehow faked (twitcher video stuff?), at least the second part, as it had a different audio quality - he wanted her to hear it from outside so she would do his dirty work for him. I also think it's him in the loos with Rayna. I feel like C&B are each other's alibis and both in on a few things.

Also - who is the gun intended for? Him, or her??

MissEliza · 09/12/2018 22:21

I'm literally twice the age of all the characters I know! It makes me feel middle aged and frumpy. I don't know why I watch it!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 10/12/2018 13:53

I'm more than twice their age! Blush

I definitely think that it could have been Callum in the toilets with Rayna - I picture him as the one who always gets overlooked because of Jack's presence - that would explain the final scene too as a massive "fuck you, look what (who) I can do" to Jack.

Am v worried about the gun combined with the appearance of Rachel. Talk about unleashing your attack dog...
