The Clique Series 2

Just discovered series 2 of this iPlayer only series started a couple of weeks ago. Series 1 was a year ago about a group of girls who worked as interns for a company with a charismatic feminist.
Series 2 is set in Edinburgh uni where Holly is having another go at uni. Like series 1 no-one seems very real, everyone is slim and attractive and the students have very posh flats. It's fun to watch and fast paced though and a bit of feminist me too versus a group of men's activist type lads

I agree that Callum is a likely suspect and not at all likeable either - the classic unreliable narrator...

Poor Jack...

I love Holly's clothes.

mizu · 10/12/2018 19:10

Just watched episode5 Xmas Shock
I too am twice their age !
It's getting a bit too OTT now but still enjoying it.
It's got to be Callum surely, jealousy can be a terrible thing.

2rebecca · 10/12/2018 23:51

The plot gets more bonkers by the week. Yes think it was Callum and he probably cut himself and has been drugging the other guy. A problem with weekly episodes is I can't remember the blokes' names. Why the mother just believed Callum's story of her son trying to kill her makes no sense.

I wonder if Audrey was drugging Jack when he was a teen, so that she could have it off with Callum.

Callum was one of the few people who knew Louise was going to meet Audrey. Only he, Jack and Holly knew I think?

2rebecca he had the recording of Jack admitting it.

Why was Jack doing the freaky garden-watching thing?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 11/12/2018 18:49

Why was Jack doing the freaky garden-watching thing?

Wasn't that when she had Rayna staying with her? He was probably wondering why his mother had taken into her home the woman who had accused him of attacking her, had him branded a rapist across the university and got him suspended.

Btw, can I just mention here how REVOLTING that video of the dean was that they played to everyone? 🤮

mizu · 11/12/2018 21:40

Please don't remind us of the video BlushShockConfusedXmas Shock

pantyclaws · 15/12/2018 10:58

Going to try to watch tonight.
Few things on my mind...

Why is Ben so invested in Jack?

Does anyone else think Rayna has mad eyes a bit like Rachel?

Where do evil Barney and the American dude fit into it?

What about the mysogynist guy at the talk who Holly shouted down at the beginning?

Will the discraced Dean make a reappearance?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 15/12/2018 13:48

Yes, I need to watch today too.

Barney is puzzling me. He seems by far the most capable of the rape, but I reckon he's a red herring and our Callum theory is the right one.

Rayna definitely seems a bit unhinged but I think that's because of the rape.

I loved that scene with the Dapper Laughs guy at the talk and thought Holly's take-down of him was brilliant. But I think that was just to show Holly getting her fight back, and to show, I guess, why the men are getting so pissed off - the women won't stay quiet and well-behaved in their box any more.

Please, no more disgraced Dean!

As for Ben, there must be a back story of some sort there, but I don't know what.

pantyclaws · 15/12/2018 13:57

The way Barney reacted when he found out Fraser had died was a red flag for me, he wasn't shocked or sad in the slightest. And Ben knowing he was vulnerable effectively drove him to commit suicide under the guise of taking him for a friendly pint. I kind of feel they'll need some comeuppance.

We're there any deaths in first series? I don't think so (apart from the Rachel one)

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 15/12/2018 14:07

The intern who was raped by the client and the lecturer's brother (I can remember zero names from the first series Blush ) died, I think? Didn't she fall from the hospital window/roof after trying to commit suicide in the bath? I think she was murdered in the hospital.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 15/12/2018 14:08

I thought that about Ben driving Fraser to suicide as well. It was chilling.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 15/12/2018 17:23

Well, I've watched the final episode!

MargueritaPink · 16/12/2018 00:27

but weirdly compelling series 1 was absolutely dire on all levels - plot, acting, dialogue but oddly compelling because it was so terrible.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/12/2018 08:48

I think I enjoyed it more than Series 1 although I can't remember what the psychopathic friend (is it Rachel?) did to end up in a secure unit (and did she kill Holly's sister when they were children?).

HannahnotAgnes · 03/01/2019 23:14

Went looking for this thread as just watching series 2 now (only recently found it on iPlayer). Rachael didn't kill Holly's little sister but she encouraged the game that meant she'd jump off the pier & die, knowing full well what the consequences would be (whereas Holly didn't realise her little sister would die).

I'm disturbed by the Callum & mum storyline. Interested to see how it all pans out. FWIW, I think Jack is innocent & has been manipulated by everyone around him.

MissEliza · 04/01/2019 19:57

Hanna I didn't realise that was Holly's little sister.

HannahnotAgnes · 04/01/2019 22:02

I think it was @MissEliza but I could be wrong as watched it a long time ago!

Finished watching it last night - I enjoyed it but was quite disturbed by the whole thing. I think it could have been done so well with less murder & psychopaths as the underlying premise was very good.

MissEliza · 04/01/2019 23:33

You might be right. In series 2, when Holly returned home, there were photos of a young girl, who may have been the sister.

Misty9 · 09/01/2019 01:04

It was Rachel's little sister and the premise was Rachel knew exactly what would happen, ergo she's a psychopath. I really enjoyed it, if only to mourn my lost youth. Which was nothing like the youth portrayed on this Grin
