Not only can camp mates smoke this year, it seems they might have their phones in there too.......

Where are they getting the cigarettes from? You might as well say that they could order in food as well. After all that's more of an 'addiction' than smoking.

Sunshineonleaf · 02/12/2018 13:18

I guess Noel was out first because the voting audience will be predominantly young and are voting for entertainers they know. I've watched the show forever and never voted.
It's so much less controversial and confrontational than it used to be.
Who remembers Rhona Cameron?

Anne was visibly out of breath just moving a couple of logs which may be down to her obesity or there may be some health issue we don't know about.
In past years there have often been participants who cop out of challenges very early on, they tended to get voted to do the next challenge. The program makers have avoided that scenario by not making every vote for trials. Also Anne was only ruled fit for one or two trials anyway.

BishopBrennansArse · 02/12/2018 13:27

@Wednesdaypig they've always had cigs from as far back as I can remember

Wednesdaypig · 02/12/2018 13:29

Oh ok. I haven't watched properly for years, I thought they would be a luxury item.

BishopBrennansArse · 02/12/2018 13:30

Not sure if they're allowed to have them in their belongings or if they're provided, though

henhelppls · 02/12/2018 13:48

As the parent of an autistic child I'm finding quite a lot of the posts in this thread upsetting.

QueenOfIce · 02/12/2018 13:48

Jesus, fuck off Bear you and your nasty judgemental jibes.

Starlight456 · 02/12/2018 14:05

The thing is there will be children in your dc’s class with Asd who will have assorts of adaptations and accommodations to help them in school. Your children will also just get it .
Anne’e Challenges will be different to the nt celebrities in their . I don’t think it is that hard to comprehend.

whatsthestory123 · 02/12/2018 14:07

I agree, henhelppls, as the mother of an autistic child too. Many of the comments have been so upsetting and shows just what our children are up against in society. ☹️

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 02/12/2018 14:49

It wasn't Maliques phone; I don't think, all the smokers have had white (presumably so that they are unbranded) boxes in their pockets throughout. They've made a few appearances.

I am surprised they're allowed to smoke so freely though. Did cigarettes used to be a luxury item? It seems like it'd be a good opportunity to quit; and showing it does normalise smoking.

Bearbehind · 02/12/2018 15:09

The white thing looked too thin to be cigarettes - it definitely looked more phone shaped!

GunpowderGelatine · 02/12/2018 15:11

God these comments are depressing. Bear I hope you were equally outraged in the years Gillian McKeith, Natalie Appleton and Helen Flanagan were on when they refused to do trials or anything scary - and they didn't have a disability to contend with.

GunpowderGelatine · 02/12/2018 15:13

If you cannot do basic tasks in the camp you should not be there

It's not girl guides, the producers don't keep people in on the proviso they carry wood. In fact they're probably delighted when people are lazy as it usually (not this year) creates conflict which then boosts ratings.

JaneJeffer · 02/12/2018 15:14

If the other camp mates are happy with Anne's level of involvement then no one else should be complaining. I'd rather her to do what she can and enjoy it than make herself ill for our entertainment.

They're always allowed cigarettes every year. It's not a new thing.

Bearbehind · 02/12/2018 15:46

Outraged is a bit OTT but, yes, I did think they were failing to enter the spirit of it too.

The bit people are deliberately misunderstanding about my comments is that they are not about her disability - in fact the6 are the complete opposite.

She’s ruled out of things she is medically unable to do.

If the medical advisors deem she can do those things she is tasked with, who are you guys to say it is her disability preventing her from doing them?

And the camp mates have had to resort to patronising her and treating her like a child when she does the most basic things - like with the fire last night - it’s her task so no one else is allowed to do it but she had to be molly-coddled through it with cries of ‘Well Done Anne’ for fanning her hat at a flame.

Anyway, it’s clear there are people who agree with me and others who think I’m a bitch - we’re never going to agree so let’s go back to enjoying the programme for what it is - mindless trash! 😆

whatsthestory123 · 02/12/2018 15:52

ok who do you think will go tonight

mine is James but hope he stays

I think Rita, she doesn’t seem to be getting public votes.

whatsthestory123 · 02/12/2018 16:03

no i like rita much more than i thought

i was surprised when she was up and the noelGrin

Well quite a number of posters have stated they have autistic children so would probably know very well what could prevent her from partaking

GunpowderGelatine · 02/12/2018 16:12

However I do agree that I don't think patronising people is the best thing to do

Bearbehind · 02/12/2018 16:24

Well quite a number of posters have stated they have autistic children so would probably know very well what could prevent her from partaking

How could they possibly know more than the medical professionals who have actually assessed the person in question?

GoldenSyrupLion · 02/12/2018 16:55

Is autism a disability? Genuine question.

AppleKatie · 02/12/2018 17:41
Shock

Let me google that for you because frankly I’m done trying to patiently explain to people who are that crashingly ignorant on this thread.
