Racism can be subtle. I don't think she was being overtly racist or malicious, but culturally insensitive. If you're of colour, you'll know where H is coming from, even though he didn't handle it particularly well.

So how do you explain Hardeep's "not ethnic enough" comment to Ryan?

I think Hardeep had a point when questioning other hm's - especially Dan - about racism. Problem is, Hardeep has been so annoying that nobody will listen.
Don't think Sally meant anything wrong re the talc but her comment about his turban was way off.

Pot and kettle there Hardeep - he doesn't listen to anyone either. He walks away.

I still prefer Hardeep to Sally

I think Emma was right last night - he is desperate for debate and discussion. He walks off though but even if he stayed he wouldn't get the debate he craves.

I prefer Joe Swash to Sally !

Sorry Anne, I didn't see that bit, just turned over to avoid the Proms! I can see why both sides were aggravated.

I can see his points totally with regards his argument with Dan - that Dan can't truly understand racism because he's never experienced it. But he's twisting their words. He's taking offence at something completely innocent (the talc thing) that's his problem not theirs. He's looking for racism where it's not evident. The turban thing is ignorant though and she should apologise for offending him with regards to that. Like I said before though I don't think she was knowingly offending

Hardeep has obviously experienced a lot of racism in the past, I can see where he was coming from but don't actually think the talc comment was in any way racist. It is such a shame that he walks away all the time instead of staying and listening and explaining. Maybe he's just fed up of having to explain himself.

Re his comment to Ryan - let's be honest, Hardeep will have had a very different experience of racism to Ryan.

before she mentioned the talc she said "can you look I'll please" "why are you looking so brown"

I dont agree with a gang shouting down someone's feelings. Im guessing Hardeep has had a lifetime of racism and zero tolerance for taking it from that bunch

He can't even wait until people finish a sentence before he starts talking over them. Kirstie is giving him the opportunity for a discussion and he doesn't like it.

Settled I think she just meant that in terms of he looks normal, I think she would have said "you look too pink" if she was talking to one of the others. He calls himself brown so she's probably appropriating that term

But if she wasnt making the comment because of his skin colour , why was her argument... but im wearing a white coat etc ?
Because I can't see a connection between talc and her wearing a white jacket.

Hardeep sometimes go bareheaded and sometimes wears a pakta? I'm not sure of his whys and wherefores as to when and why. I don't know.

Sally is stupid and her wailing is all about how she's perceived rather than how she feels, but my god, Hardeep gets on my wick.

Hardeep's big issue is that he feels so very superior to 90% of the others in there. Nick and Kirstie can converse with him, but he makes no real effort to find any common ground with the others.
