Anyone settling down for this? I work in the industry so am keen to see if it's realistic

OP posts:
Namechangeforhair · 06/09/2018 21:17

I'm watching it. Is it realistic? Quite like it so far. Ben Chaplin has not aged well.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 21:22

I still like to think of Ben as he was in The Truth About Cats and Dogs...

PawneeParksDept · 06/09/2018 21:32

Omg!

I CAME to this thread to say

  1. Ben Chaplin has not aged well
  2. I remember how divine he was in The Truth About Cats And Dogs

Great minds etc...

Purplemond · 06/09/2018 21:39

Charlotte Reily was good in DCI banks a few years back, ive not seen her in anything else though. I bet her and Tom Hardys children are beautiful though

ASmallMovie · 06/09/2018 21:43

Staggeringly unrealistic. Which wouldn’t be a problem if it was good drama but it’s boring.

The documentary about the New York Times reporting Trump’s first year was much more entertaining.

PawneeParksDept · 06/09/2018 21:46

Ooo what was the name of that doc @ASmallMovie

I agree it doesn't seem realistic and the thinly veiled Guardian and Sun stereotypes are already wearing thin.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 21:49

And here's Rupert Murdoch David Suchet.

TomHardysNextWife · 06/09/2018 21:51

I so wanted to like this, but it's not very engaging.

Even weirder than Wanderlust the other night Hmm

Flightywoman · 06/09/2018 21:52

Himself is a journo and has said he's only watching to see if it gets worse than it already is.

PawneeParksDept · 06/09/2018 21:54

I thought I was going to like this, but nope. So many modern dramas just can't compete with the calibre on Netflix

ASmallMovie · 06/09/2018 21:55

Pawnee Parks - It was called Reporting Trump’s First Year - The Fourth Estate. Would highly recommend.

TheSpottedZebra · 06/09/2018 21:55

It was shite - I turned over halfway through.
Shame.

Purplemond · 06/09/2018 21:56

i was looking forward to all the new dramas on but besides Bodyguard im not sure i will be sticking with any of the others

Namechangeforhair · 06/09/2018 21:58

We quite liked it! In a shit sort of way.

PawneeParksDept · 06/09/2018 22:00

Yes Bodyguard is good and I'm waiting on

Les Mis
Killing Eve

I think His Dark Materials won't happen til 2019 but already excited

TomHardysNextWife · 06/09/2018 22:02

Yes Bodyguard has so far been the only really gripping drama.

Seems a colossal waste of budget to pump out turgid crap like tonight.............

NC4Now · 06/09/2018 22:02

Hmm. Another hack here. I recognise some of it, but it’s grossly exaggerated and over simplified. And the headlines are shit.

But I can see what they are getting at re issues in the industry, ethics, how it’s changed in the digital newsroom etc.

I’m not smitten, but I’ll give it another episode.

Namechangeforhair · 06/09/2018 22:03

I think the bodyguard is dull. Prefer line of duty. Yes there have been a few exciting twists but too much boring shagging.

PawneeParksDept · 07/09/2018 15:16

Gosh that Fourth Estate program is really good @ASmallMovie I've got a day off and I'm watching it. I hope they keep it going through the inevitable impeachment

MissEliza · 07/09/2018 18:28

It was pretty boring although Ben Chaplin's performance was good. I refuse to like Charlotte Riley because she's with Tom Hardy.

placemats · 07/09/2018 18:38

I enjoyed watching this. A slow boil, just right for an autumn night.

raisedbyguineapigs · 08/09/2018 10:41

Ben Chaplin hasn't aged well???? What did he look like before? I was thinking how attractive he was Confused I liked it!

FawnDrench · 08/09/2018 13:21

I quite liked it and think (hope) it will improve as the series goes on..

SamanthaBrique · 08/09/2018 17:32

@raisedbyguineapigs He was gorgeous in his youth. Not quite so much anymore. Probably still would though.
