Will anyone be watching? I’ve not read the book but just seen the trailer and it looks good so I’ll give it a go. Patrick Dempsey is in it.

Starts 4th September on Sky Witness I believe.

I think that when he started he GA, I thought that he was nearer 30 than 40!

Its very Woody Allenish isnt it? Hes so ernest whem he talks about her it makes me boak. I was glad to read that the “girl” is 22 in real life.

I almost gave up after two episodes because it was so slow but stuck with it. I’m now so hooked that I’ve started reading the book. I need to know who did it! I’m a quarter of the way through and the series is very faithful to it so far.

I’m a Patrick Dempsey fan so liking HQ even though the situation is repugnant. Marcus is indeed irritating, even more so in the book actually. He’s soooooo arrogant and full of himself.

IDK. I saw it that Harry was drawn to Nola because of her free spirit type of thing and her beauty. She approached him and wouldn't leave him alone afterwards. He knew it wasn't appropriate and they never actually did anything did they or did I miss it? He was rather stuck with her after the suicide attempt and her showing him her bruises.

What the 'Origin of Evil' is about hasn't really been touched on except for Harry saying that it was about their relationship . I suspect we won't know whodunnit until that is explained?

Any ideas?

I'm toying with getting the book to put me out of my misery but then I won't have anything to look forward to on Tuesdays!

That's how he rationalises it though-we have no idea as can't hear Nola's side.

He's an adult, he should have stopped it or moved away-not encouraged her in any way (especially her feelings were recipricated & she has fragile mental health)

Of course if she wrote or helped write the book that would explain why he "had" to stay!

Well he said they talked about getting married when she was 18 and living in Canada didnt or even if it was her he went along with it.

I’ve finished the book. It’s a bit frenetic at the end which spoils it somewhat but it was very very good. Looking forward to watching it on screen now!

Well just found some spoilers as couldn't wait for another two weeks to find out whodunnit. Wouldn't have figured out the 'why' or put the other stuff together. Put out of my misery but now pissed off I didn't wait .

What a twist about the mother!! Wtf is going on, I almost wondered if she (Nola) was still alive somehow. Sounds like she had some problems herself!

I'm back to suspecting the creepy old neighbour, though I'm not sure what his motive would be. Or maybe Nola killed the woman and then her own death was accidental and someone buried her? Arggghh I'm avoiding spoilers at the moment but not sure I can last another 2 weeks!

Does anyone else thing that it wasn't Luther, but he was killed?

I feel really sorry for Luther, the scene of his attack was horrid.

I'm officially over this show after last night's episode, just seems so far fetched how everyone is suddenly willing to confess to all these awful long ago crimes and secrets they've kept hidden for 30 years because a young author and not very good cop show up. I'm also rewatching The Wire at the same time which doesn't help, going from one to the other is pretty jarring!

I'll stick it out for the last one though, need to know what happened.

The ex police chief who was shot must have been involved/known who it was & the other person has now panicked?

So, will there be another 'final twist' next week??

I was half expecting her to still be alive! Poor Luther again though, poor chap was screwed over by everyone.

The Nola character really annoys me. She doesn't feel like a rounded character or a believable fifteen year old girl. She is more of a male fantasy - lolita type who looks doe eyed and innocent but also poses nude and gives out blow jobs. You can tell a man conjured her up.

Could someone explain all that??!!
So Luther stole the letters that Nola wrote to HQ and wrote back to her as Harry? Why did he then give her the manuscript and put his love note In it is she assumes it’s harry writing it? How did he then have all the letters in his possession? Wouldn’t he just have Nola’s letters? So how did he write a book with both sides of the story?
Did the young author then just publish the original HQ book he wrote about seagulls and never tell the real story about what happened to Nola??
