EvaHarknessRose · 27/08/2018 20:02

I love the ideas and dystopias of Black Mirror but I don’t like the nightmares some of the more gory episodes give me Sad

Would anyone care to recommend me their favourite clever but not grim ones? Please Smile

San Junipero is heartwarmingly brilliant.

JoyTheUnicorn · 27/08/2018 20:04

San Junipero is lovely.

JoyTheUnicorn · 27/08/2018 20:05

And Hang the DJ.

bringbacksideburns · 27/08/2018 20:07

Nose dive is a good one. And Dan Junipero won lots of awards.

I know what you mean about gore.

Dogmatix34 · 27/08/2018 20:07

Me too! I love Hang the DJ , San Junipero and 15 million merits (all fine and not gory) but I’m scared of watching some others. I managed the pig one but it was a hard watch!

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 27/08/2018 20:08

San pellegrino is the best episode, enjoyable, not scary, makes you think, really well made, it seems like a technology we might want to build in future but would raise various questions.

That's my favourite by far.

I also enjoyed A Million Merits and the SS one set on a star trek type ship in the most recent series.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 27/08/2018 20:09

What is nose dive like?

Oops San Junipero Blush

catinboots9 · 27/08/2018 20:11

God I watched the pig one and was put off for life. Good to know some of them are nice to watch

Yutes · 27/08/2018 20:12

Fifteen Million Merits (S1 E2)
Be Right Back (S2 E1)
Nosedive (S3 E1)

Also try Electric Dreams. It was on channel 4 I think. I liked the second episode Impossible Planet

Yutes · 27/08/2018 20:13

Avoid the White Bear. I couldn’t get that out of my head, and not in a good way.

CookPassBabtridge · 27/08/2018 20:17

Rewatching these at the mo!

Unnightmareish ones are: San Junipero, Hang the DJ, Nosedive.

Electrack · 27/08/2018 20:19

San Junipero affected me in a lovely way. And loved Hang the DJ also

Winterfellismyhome · 27/08/2018 20:19

I liked Hang the DJ. Very feelgood.

Avoid Crocodile. Agree about white bear, that has stayed with me too

EvaHarknessRose · 27/08/2018 20:19

Oh this is fantastic, thanks for these recommendations I am so happy I can now line them up without so much trepidation, and hopefully love Black Mirror as much as it (sometimes) deserves. Really appreciate it.

Would second Be Right Back - although it's scary in other ways if you can imagine yourself wanting to do what the protagonist in that episode does!

JustDanceAddict · 27/08/2018 21:03

Loved White Bear
Hang the DJ
The Star Trek one

ginghamstarfish · 27/08/2018 23:09

The star trek one was fab, the one about mobile phones ... Can't remember the names

PippaPepperpot · 27/08/2018 23:26

Entire History of You and White Christmas aren't gory but very thought provoking.

Also agree with the other recommendations on this thread. I love Black Mirror!

BagelGoesWalking · 28/08/2018 00:08

Nosedive is brilliant - and not nightmarish - just thought provoking.

Megabeth · 28/08/2018 00:13

I watched San Junipiero and Hated by the Nation last night. Like op I didn't want anything too disturbing. Ivealready watched the Star Trek one.

goforkyourself · 28/08/2018 19:25

Nosedive and the Star Trek one were my favourite episodes.

Anyone correct me if wrong but isn't a new series due soon? I'm sure I read months ago they were filming it somewhere? might've been in the Daily Mail Blush

MissionItsPossible · 28/08/2018 21:52

Apart from the Star Trek episode I wasn’t really impressed with the last series. Hope the quality improves for the next one.

NoseDive is brilliant and San Junipero is so beautiful and makes me emotional every time.

delphguelph · 28/08/2018 21:53

The one with Jon hamm is good apparently.

cariadlet · 29/08/2018 13:41

I can't remember what it was called but whatever you do don't watch the one where the young American backpacker ends up in London, gets robbed and ends up testing an immersive game.

One incident made me jump so much that I spilled tea all over the settee, I was continually having to hide my eyes and the end freaked me out.

MissionItsPossible · 29/08/2018 15:32

cariadlet

I know which episode and exactly which part you mean. I think it’s the 2nd episode of the 3rd series but not 100 percent.

White Bear and Shut Up and Dance aren’t gory but, like others have said, will stay with you long after viewing but they are very good IMO. White Bear is in my top 3 and Shut up and Dance top 5.
