Phew, that was quite some episode. I watched it very late last night and haven't had time to catch up with this thread till now.
I loved the moment when all the wives came in behind Serena. If only they'd stayed, they could have accomplished much more. I was willing that to be the start of a wholesale insurrection. And maybe it will be, in time, just not yet.
I can't warm to CLawrence, even after the ending. All those mind games with poor, haunted Emily. Obvs I'm very glad she didn't have to go through another cermony, but I thought the offhand way in which he said, 'not going to do that with you' and dismissed her was horrible, lacking in any kindness whatsoever, just him indulging his own whim. I think helping her to escape was another part of his power trip. In the car made no attempt to treat her like a human being, or give her any reassurance or information about what was happening to her, which must have been torture for her.
I'm worried about Holly-Nichole's well-being. Emily's a broken person and I don't know whether she has it in her to take care of a tiny baby. Practically, it would have been hard enough even for June to take care of her newborn on what's likely to be a long, tough journey. Emotionally, I can't see Emily recovering sufficiently from everything she's been through to give Holly-Nichole a healthy upbringing.
I was with the 'surely June would be able to do more from Canada' brigade until reading this thread, and I've changed my mind now. I love the idea of her posing as Clawrence's handmaid, but I don't see that working - after all, they do go out and about even in a limited way, and Janine would give the game away very quickly! Instead, it looks as though S3 might centre on the underground femaleroad and those wonderful Marthas we saw last night, which would be good - I'd like to get to know them more.
