Unashamedly uncool thread.

Was in Liverpool for a few days last week and fulfilled a long held ambition to visit Brookside Close. Husband and kids didn’t get it, but it made my week.

Anyway, had an afternoon to myself today and have been watching old episodes on YouTube and wondered if there are any fellow former Brookie fans on Mumsnet who wanted to chat about it.

My favourite era was mid-nineties with the body under the patio and all of that, I LOVED Anna Friel and definitely had some confusing feelings about that lesbian kiss (I was about 10 at the time).

I also had a long time crush on Max Farnham and was very happy when he married Jacqui Dixon in the early noughties. The peak of my young life was when the actor who played Max was appearing in a play in London and I happened to be on the same tube as him one evening. He was with a fellow actor and I plucked up the courage to speak to him. He was very charming and kissed me on the cheek, was marvellous! Sadly it was before camera phones, so this thrill of my girlhood exists only in my memories 😆

What are your favourite Brookside memories?

Adored Brookside! Loved Barry Grant. I was gutted when it finished.

shutlingsloe · 05/08/2018 21:50

Anyone remember Annabelle Collins and Paul? Think they'd 'downsized' from the Wirral. Heather the accountant was a favourite too.

Seth · 05/08/2018 21:51

Agreed.. so many brilliant stories. Was Max married to some one called Patricia? The so called Yuppies on the close?, also loved Damon /Damien ?(sp) and Debbie and of course the special . Yes to body under the patio and The first lesbian kiss! Brilliant. Also what was that incest story a bit later on? Nate and his sister?
I knew it was a real close then but what is it now? A normal close or is it a 'visit the set' kind of tour?

Seth · 05/08/2018 21:52

I can't remember the Russian ladies's name but she now runs a Beauty shop close to where I live. Big curly hair. Was she with Terry ? (or is I just assuming so due to curly hair?) Hmm

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/08/2018 21:53

Would be great if they showed classic Brookside on More 4 or something, I would so watch it, maybe they will now classic corrie is being shown and also Eastenders is on from the beginning on the Drama channel, there is certainly an audience for it. I loved it when Max and Patricia moved in they had the nicest decorated house! I loved how Suzanna the first wife was a constant thorn in their side!

Starlight345 · 05/08/2018 21:54

Yes Trevor Jordache. Sinbad was great. The corkills were the scallues.

Bluelonerose · 05/08/2018 21:56

MirandaWest · 05/08/2018 22:02

Who was it who fell down the stairs and died?

BitOfFun · 05/08/2018 22:05

Signing in- I blimmin' LOVED Brookie.

When I was 16 I actually went out with one of the actors for a short time (he was really lovely, and his family were just great). I was so impressed and excited to see him on screen...until it turned out he was playing an incestuous abusive older brother to a foster child Shock.

In my frivolous and shallow teenage way, I couldn't keep seeing him.
