Girly chat

eejittwo · 05/10/2018 22:16

Aw, red ribbon round the rosabaya

eejittwo · 05/10/2018 22:18

See what you mean about the middle truck.

Rhubarb01 · 05/10/2018 22:22

As far as I'm aware I can do 14 October too, so let's put that in the diary for episode 4 - another good one!

There's no two ways about it, I love this series more than any of the others and the only thing that would probably make me love another as much is if it brought Molly back somehow to a reconciliation with CJ. I could happily wave goodbye to OG at that point and probably enjoy watching all of the series time and time again, knowing that it reaches the right and true end - or at least as much as anything can in a fictional world. It might not be fashionable, but I do want a fictional happy ever after. I think everyone has enough disappointing realism to deal with and there's nothing wrong in craving some fictional happiness. If we don't get a final series which resolves the characters' dilemmas (for that read - CJ realising Molly is the real woman for him and he loves her, and Georgie striking out for her own future and not needing a man, or at least finding someone who is right for her) I think I'll just stick to series 1 and 2 for the future and enjoy those two stories and forget what followed.

Rhubarb01 · 05/10/2018 22:24

Well, eejit what did you think of the Molly/CJ chat over a mine detector. We've always hated it.

eejittwo · 05/10/2018 22:28

So Sohail wasn’t so bad after all.
I eoldn’t say I love it as much as those with the added attraction of LP, but apart from the unnecessary end to 3:4, there was too much soap once in Belize and Bangladesh.

eejittwo · 05/10/2018 22:31

It was verging on the soapiness I deplored. Yeah, the heart to heart in case there wasn’t another chance, but what about the ‘stay focussed’ stuff?

Rhubarb01 · 05/10/2018 22:36

The two good things about Nepal, Belize and Bangladesh were Maisie and Rab, who I enjoyed enormously. Everything post Elvis I found a bit disappointing BUT I live in hope of some resolution as outlined above - obviously, I do have more than that in my life to keep me going, but from an OG sense that is my hope. Fingers crossed.Grin

Rhubarb01 · 05/10/2018 22:40

I always wonder what CJ would have said to Molly if Sohail hadn't reached out from under the sheet, given the expression on his face - there's a fanfic idea - suppose he had actually been dead already and CJ said something to put Molly off entirely..hmm.

As for staying focussed, well let's see how well that goes in episode 4.

Magi84 · 05/10/2018 22:43

Thanks onece more enjoyed all that. Have to say Rhu your suggestion for how to tie it all up in another series quite appeals. Can't see it happening though as TG doesn't seem able to get LT on board any more.

Glad you liked it eejit and I bet if you'd see it and then gone on to series 2 with the lovely LP in it you would have been feeling same as us about what followed. As I think you mentioned once the fact that LP couldn't do any more due to other commitments didn't mean they had to kill him off. Surely could have been mentioned much as Molly was in series 2. Ah well can't have everything I suppose

eejittwo · 06/10/2018 17:19

Just happened to be thinking about OG this morning, as I did the shopping - as one does - and, in particular, about the symmetry in the plots between OG1 and OG2. There's the Molly / Smurf / CJ triangle in OG1 and the Georgie / Elvis / Dr Dullandboring no contest Grin in OG2. Molly and Smurf have pre-series previous (I think that is what was hinted?) and there's a whole ten minute trailer filling in the Georgie-Elvis backstory for OG2. Then, whadya know, in OG3, TG gives Georgie another triangle. Can't the man think of anything else?

Bonnefoi · 07/10/2018 19:22

The whole series three : will, they won’t they, oh shit they did melodrama was very clever, but I think has backfired as there are a lot of fans unhappy on a spectrum that swings somewhere between hacked off and won’t watch it anymore to flaming torches and pitch forks metaphorically outside TG’s front door.

By way of example, I believe it’s kicking off on fanfiction.net because of a CJ/Georgie positive for that relationship story.

So TG has either pulled off a major PR wind up and hay presto her comes Molly in season four. Or he’s been stuck with a much beloved character who’s never coming back because of the original actress and is trying to get rid of his issue. But it backfired. Idk which is correct, but it’s wiring a lot of (probably normally sensible) people up. Confused

Bonnefoi · 07/10/2018 19:41

Should also have said, to be balanced, there are of course people who are pro G/CJ as well, just to stir the pot more. 🤦🏽‍♀️

eejittwo · 07/10/2018 22:21

Bonnefoi, how can they? Still mourning Elvis ...

eejittwo · 07/10/2018 22:25

PS - I think it may have had something to do with the change of producer after Belize, as I can't have been the only one to think that there was potential in the Bones / CJ scenario.
To paraphrase Lady Bracknell, to blow one character up may be a misfortune (albeit a serious lapse in judgement), to blow up a second looks like carelessness (and a failure of imagination).

Ladies - just checking. Are we watching episode 4 tomorrow night at 9pm?

Ilovelblue · 14/10/2018 02:07

Hi. Just back from France on a late flight.

Sunday at 9 is good for me.

Whilst doing a tour of a major historical site in Provence this week, we had very up to the minute ipads to guide us through. We went through 'time portals' every so often. It made me laugh as I thought of Georgie and her portal after the bomb in Bangladesh.

OOh, ilove, which site was it? Do tell.

Ilovelblue · 14/10/2018 11:44

It was the Palais des Papes in Avignon. Last time I was there was 1981, the year Prince Charles and the then Lady Diana ot married.

Evening! Will be ready and in position at 9pm for Episode 4.

Glad you had a nice holiday ilove and are now back on parade.

I've been recuperating from a minor operation all week and feel about 85% now so it's all looking good and I have my wits about me. In any case, I reckon I can probably recite most of the episode by heart. If you've resisted the urge to have a sneaky peak eejit there are moments of both panto-like humour and real tension in this one. In fact, having decided to download the episode to my tablet to ensure non-glitch play, I discovered that it was first aired on October 12th 2014, so we have just passed the 4th anniversary of the week in which this thread really took off. I think you and I both outed ourselves on here just after that date ilove. Goodness what a feverish week that was! I'm feeling all nostalgic again.

See you later after Dr Who and the Strictly dance-off (I know who was voted off as usual but won't spoil it). I forgot to ask ilove - who have you put your bets on this year?

Rhubarb01 · 14/10/2018 18:57

Bonnefoi I've just wandered over to fanfiction for the first time in a while and taken a look at that story you were mentioning. It appears that emotions are running quite high on the subject. I feel sorry for the writer - it is only a story after all - shame it's become a platform for reviewers to have a bit of an argument. Still, say what you want, TG has certainly created plenty of interest in his storyline, even if large numbers hate it.
