Maybe the Doctors should have put out a SmuggyMCSmugface Team

Ruhma, Heston, Gobby and 6TL

Then the buggers would have won Grin

Raahh · 29/08/2018 12:57

I woke up at 2am having a massive 'back to school' panic attack.

I'm not looking forward to ds going back next week, (all 3 go back on different days, although ds and dd1 are at the same schoolHmm) and all that entails. It's going to be a really difficult year for ds- after a truly hideous year last year. To makes matters worse, half the staff at his school who have been working with him on things have left.

I had a scan the other week to see if my kidney stones had disappeared- and there is just a small one. Unfortunately, they also spotted an ovarian cyst. So- I can add another bloody hospital trip to my ever growing list for a scan to look that Hmm Grin

I took dd2 swimming, as I was feeling guilty that I'd not had chance to do that all holiday either. I hate going to the local baths, it's all the faffing and getting changed - so it was a real labour of loveGrin.

I'm annoyed that Red Rock ended- when I know the series hadn't really finished. The Beeb did the same with '800 Words'- there is another series of that, that they haven't shown. Damn you, BBC.Grin

And Amazon Prime are making a proper pigs ear of the US open tennis coverage, so I'm really cross about that (and moaning a lot on the tennis thread Grin.

Anyway- after my this epic moan Grin I really came along to say I'm very much looking forward to Doctors coming back.

Grin

HelloRaahh that's an epic post!
I'm so looking forward to Doctors returning, but in the meantime I'm still hooked on classic Corrie.

toldmywrath · 29/08/2018 13:54

Sorry your ds has been having problems. It's tough seeing your children suffer. My DD had problems in her teens/late teens. She's now very well and settled in a job she loves. It doesn't pay much but I think wellbeing is more important.

Raahh · 29/08/2018 14:10

told thank you- I keep telling myself that getting him well is all that matters- but he's at that stage where GCSE's seem like the be all and all. He's on ADs now, and seems kind of stable, but going back to school will be the big thing- so I need to get over the first few weeks.
I'm glad to hear your dd is well- I agree, that well being is more important than struggling.

Bloody hell, being a parent is hard. I sometimes think I should have stuck to gold fish (and I wasn't the best parent to them Grin).

redshoeblueshoe · 29/08/2018 15:51

Raahh lovely to see you back, I would love to say it gets easier post teens but that would be a big fat lie

Cake Brew

Raahh · 29/08/2018 15:57

redthank you.

And since I'm 46, and I'm sure I still cause my mother more than enough grief, I think it's a long term project. Grin

redshoeblueshoe · 29/08/2018 16:04

Raahh my DP's are long gone, but on reflection I may have caused plenty of stress on the way

FuzzyCustard · 29/08/2018 17:25

Hello all!
I missed Drs on Eggies (Swizz) but on reading your comments I think it might have been very annoying anyway. Next stop for them "Only Connect"? How do you think they might fare on that?

I shall be glad when the kids go back to school....
a) I have no school aged children
b) the sea is full of the little blighters getting in the way of me on my bodyboard. I want my beach back!

I am being a grumpy gimmer!

Raaah I am sorry to hear about your ovaries (more eggy things) and hope that the hosp visits are not too onerous and things can be sorted very simply.

See you all in front of the telly soon!! x

toldmywrath · 29/08/2018 19:01

Sorry Raahh, I forgot to mention your ovaries. Flowers

Raahh · 29/08/2018 19:05

That's ok, GrinI'm ignoring them. I was very impressed by the urology department, the letter was lovely, they sent the referral for the scan straight to the gynae dept, rather than back to the GP, which would have taken longer.

It can't have been there long, the cyst, because, I had my pelvis etc scanned in June when I had the original kidney stones.

FuzzyCustard · 29/08/2018 19:13

I bet your cyst is "ovaryrated".
Boom tish!

Raahh · 29/08/2018 19:15

Fuzzy Grin

blamethecat · 29/08/2018 20:03

While I'm looking forward to doctors being back on I am going to miss ds when he goes back
raahh hope you ovaries are sorted soon and that you ds gets the support he needs get through the first few weeks and then the rest of the year.
Nothing much going on here, still learning to drive but have test booked, I'm mainly getting my medical drama fix from ER which is still brilliant years later.

Raahh · 29/08/2018 20:11

I'm listening to dd2 - who is having the mother of all strops because she doesn't want to go to bed. She has got used to staying up slightly later. She still gets up early- but she really needs to go to bed- she's exhausted.

My neighbours probably think I'm murdering her.

FuzzyCustard · 29/08/2018 21:07

I got my medical drama fix by taking DH to hospital today. Bloods done, we waited a further 4.5 hours to see the Dr, (ok, we have to wait for the lab to process the bloods) then another 40 mins in the pharmacy.
Tired......

On the telly front we're quite into "GPs: Behind Closed Doors" where I get to see if I can diagnose stuff before the GPs. Who get my utter admiration, as they have to put up with so much blethering!

toldmywrath · 30/08/2018 08:13

Fuzzy I watch GP behind closed doors. I absolutely could not be a gp, I'd need people to follow a list of rules:
No phones to be used in my room
Take your hat off
Keep your children under control- do not let them play with my stethoscope etc
GET TO THE POINT

Grin
toldmywrath · 30/08/2018 08:14

I like to diagnose, too.

redshoeblueshoe · 01/09/2018 17:48

Take your hat off Grin
That's a good rule

Raahh · 01/09/2018 18:18

I have been watching 'Extra Slice' today.

There were some fabulously bad cakes in the pictures that people sent in from home. I was reminded of this thread, because someone sent in a picture of a hedgehog cake, made with chocolate finger- and a menacing mouth made from those sweets that are chewy teeth Grin.

And a hamster with scary hands. Grin

cloudyweewee · 01/09/2018 20:01

I also avidly watch GPs Behind Closed Doors! I can't believe how some parents let their kids run riot in the surgery.

FuzzyCustard · 01/09/2018 20:10

I agree so much cloudy about kids in the surgery. I would be the "very scary doctor" who tells them to "sit down, keep still, don't touch anything and SHUT UP"

The hedgehog cake on "Extra slice" was hilarious. It'll catch on.

blamethecat · 01/09/2018 21:48

I like behind closed doors too. People do go for the most minor things and there are some who really need help and cant get it. Yes to taking hats off, people do that to us because obviously I can fit glasses with a hat in the way Hmm.
Dp is annoying at the doctors, if I go or take ds and he comes he'll manage to ask about himself, I'd ban him from my surgery Grin

MadisonAvenue · 03/09/2018 10:06

Finally - today's the today!

On the subject of GPs I've been trying to get my flu jab sorted, I'm on the at risk list, and my surgery always start giving it in September which is great and I'd made an appointment for the first clinic in a couple of weeks only to have it cancelled. They can't get the vaccine as there's a manufacturing delay. There's a different one being given this year to under 65s, the at risk group basically, and they can get the one for over 65s but not the other so I'm hoping that the delay isn't for too long.

redshoeblueshoe · 03/09/2018 12:09

Thanks for the heads up Madison, I have 2 young relatives that both need the flu jab and it is always difficult to get them booked in
