No we didn't all our filming wasn't just done with us

Italiangreyhound · 21/06/2018 01:41

I do think everyone was very brave to put their lives out there so publicly. I hope it has been quieter since.

Dulra · 21/06/2018 08:15

Congratulations simon2ce you had a wonderful wedding thought it was lovely with your mums giving you both away and as others have said your mum was a sweetie. I know there hasn't been very nice things said on here about your in laws but they definitely seemed to be more accepting towards the end so I hope that continues. I think a lot of their problem was just ignorance and initially an unwillingness to accept their son was gay. You both make a lovely couple. How long ago was the wedding?

fatfeckingmavis · 24/06/2018 09:57

Simon2ce just watching it now, such a lovely wedding!! You make a smashing couple. Your mum is so nice too, you are very lucky.

Just watching the Australian Bride and Prejudice. It's way more dramatic than the UK one. But brutal but very moving too. Love Grant and Chris.

Just watched the latest episode. I can't quite understand why the Christian guy needs to convert to Islam to marry the Muslim girl. Why can't they each keep their own religion?

I know a Christian and Jewish couple and neither of them changed religion. They had a civil ceremony and shortened Jewish ceremony in an hotel

Italiangreyhound · 29/06/2018 16:15

Because the woman won't marry him if he doesn't. Or he is convinced it is real for him.

mydogisthebest · 29/06/2018 16:55

Well I wouldn't expect someone to change their religion for me. Other religions accept couples with differing religions so why not Islam?

Italiangreyhound · 29/06/2018 17:52

I'm not sure it is always accept, sometimes make less fuss. Are you watching the USA version on All four?

They have a Jewish guy who is partnered with a Christian.

mydogisthebest · 29/06/2018 19:13

I didn't know there was a USA version. I'll have to have a look at it

HollowTalk · 03/07/2018 23:33

I've watched the first episode of the US series - it's been really interesting so far (though I wish they wouldn't repeat everything as though we're morons.) The issues there seem bigger. The Jewish guy is with a gentile, but they already have a child - none of the parents want them to marry. I feel that if he dumped her and met a Jewish woman and had children, then his parents would prioritise their Jewish grandchild. I think their relationship is doomed anyway.

I felt the same with the black/white couple - both families were racist - if I were them I'd cut my losses and start again with someone else.

And the gay guys on the US show were so lovely, but I really don't think one of the guys will have any luck in getting his family to accept his partner.

I thought at first these were going to be trashy programmes, but I've really enjoyed them.

And @simon2ce, your mum was lovely but your in laws were out of the arc! Your husband is lovely too, though. I wish you both well Flowers

Italiangreyhound · 04/07/2018 11:43

@HollowTalk the USA series was much more dramatic that the Aussie version, which in tern was more dramatic than than the UK one.

The Jewish family dynamic is very interesting but do watch on, a few twists and turns await!!

HollowTalk · 05/07/2018 22:47

I'm watching it now, @Italiangreyhound. I'm not convinced any of them are making the right decision now!

I think the Jewish family's differences with the Christian family is as much to do with class and manners, tbh. When her father starting drinking soup out of the bowl and her mum was sniffing the food I thought I'd really hate my child to marry into that family, too. The woman is lovely, though, and I really feel for her.

The gay guy who was in a snip because his boyfriend's parents weren't paying for the wedding deserved a slap - his mum wasn't contributing anything, either!

HollowTalk · 05/07/2018 23:05

It's REALLY pissing me off that the Jewish guy is expecting the Christian woman to learn all about Judaism and to convert, when he is making no effort whatsoever to learn anything about Christianity.

Italiangreyhound · 05/07/2018 23:17

@HollowTalk Yes, it is all very embarrassing isn't it.

simon2ce · 07/07/2018 18:13

Life has been easier now filming has finished

Italiangreyhound · 07/07/2018 22:00

That's good, Simon.
