Not much longer to wait out for the Nigeria episodes! Some of us are still mourning the death of Elvis.

I have no words. Maybe WTF? Hmm

Bonnefoi · 04/07/2018 22:38

Actually, here’s a thought. Medic knows he had PTSD symptoms, at what point is she going to do something about it? As in be a Medic?

Plus he border line being a sex pest.

Yeah, I’m sticking with WTF.

QueenoftheNights · 04/07/2018 22:49

It's a load of crap. One cliche after another, stereotypical characters...thin story lines each week. Waste of life watching it.

Ilovelblue · 04/07/2018 22:57

Rhu, eejit and whoever else wants to join in. When do we want to do our watchalong? I'm out tomorrow night and Thursday is a bit early anyway as I need to digest tonight's episode. I'm free Friday or Sunday evenings - I like Sundays but will go with whatever else people want.

Thank you for the welcomes

@iloveblue I think it's my wishful thinking, having said that I had the same feeling again today at tge mentions of abandoned children and the little boy dying. I just feel there is a twist coming.

Well I guess the twist did come, just not the one I was expecting.

Again probably looking for something that isn't there but as previously discussed Bones and the Brigadier's relationship seems odd - could Bones be his son and his sarky Sir's are because he's cheeking his Dad? A dad who has never said well done and that he's proud of his son. At least that's what I gained from the scene with the Brig eating with the other chap and Bones standing in the background.

Also I really liked the oranges and apples analogy, I thought it showed a side of him we hadn't seen before.

StuntPineapple · 04/07/2018 23:07

Oh almost forgot, I love a bit of Captain James but he looks like a broken man on his return.

Rhubarb01 · 04/07/2018 23:11

Sunday is OK for me. To be honest I didn't take in everything I watched as I did something unthinkable and started checking my phone while it was on - yes who'd have thought!

At the start I was torn between enjoyment at the sight of CJ working out and disgust at every word that came out of his mouth.

Sorry to have sounded so hard-hearted about Bones but I really had no empathy for his character whatsoever and nothing he said or did changed that. Unless there's some unexpected twist we've yet to discover to his appearance in the series I'm beginning to wonder why he was in it at all. The only possible thing I can think of is that there might be friction between CJ and Two Section in the aftermath of the events at the party and his leadership versus CJ's.

AngeloMysterioso · 05/07/2018 00:57

Well I'm gonna miss Bones, but only because I thought he was mega sexy.

Flowerfan · 05/07/2018 06:43

Good morning
I am finding it hard to accept that my hero has feet of clay at the moment but still living in hope of him returning to the CJ we all love!
Certainly not expecting that end for Bones TG has stopped that story continuing. Did anyone else see the rumours about MK being pregnant in real life the other day if so that would rule out another series at the moment?
I can’t see another series happening really even though I will miss the ‘waiting out’ and anticipation.

eejittwo · 05/07/2018 07:21

Morning ladies. Well, well, well.

First - Friday is the only night I can commit to watchalong. I'm off on hols on Saturday with intermittent to no internet access, which rather scuppers anything time-sensitive.
In fairness to Bones, in Nigeria Georgie causes three months undercover work to rescue the schoolgirls to be aborted. Then in Belize, it's his taking a shortcut that results in CJ getting injured. Georgie insists he can't be stretchered out though, if he had, his leg would have been seen to earlier, he wouldn't have had the just-as-damaging stretchering by Georgie and Ezra, the village might not have been burned, and Ezra would still be alive. Bones is hacked off because the Brig has assumed that he fired the first shot heard over comms, whereas it was the bandits. He gets demoted as a result an takes it out on 2 Section but, as Fingers (who has been out of 2 Section for a while and experienced other units) remarks - he has sharpened them up. Maybe that is what the Brig had in mind anyway.
Not saying I'd have liked him in RL, but I felt that he was a believable character. We only ever saw Elvis rescuing Georgie. We don't know what he was like on other missions.

Magi84 · 05/07/2018 08:09

Lots of important points there eejit. I remember thinking why didn't they make a stretcher for CJ when the whole section were there to do it instead of Georgie telling them what to do I.e. leaving her on her own with him! In the end Ezra made a stretcher of sorts all on his own.

Also you're right we only ever saw Elvis rescuing Georgie numerous times and only heard vaguely of his other jobs.

Really beginning to get decompression on the whole thing here😡

Rhubarb01 · 05/07/2018 09:28

Morning all!

I found myself chewing over the CJ/Georgie situation again and fervently hoping that CJ's slightly bonkers pursuit of her is just a manifestation of his PTSD and that it will all come to a head with a heart-to-heart at some point where he realises he needs proper help and she decides to put permanent distance between them. I'm not quite sure from some of the things she said whether she is anxious about him from the point of view of knowing he isn't quite right in the head or whether she actually thinks she might be drawn to him and doesn't really want to be.

I'm also feeling somewhat misled by BA's interview in RT in which they implied there were be continued tension between him and Bones when he returned after his injury - clearly not possible now - and that he would come to the rescue - well only if you think of it as filling a vacancy.

Technical point here too - what is the likelihood of a Brigadier addressing a room of squaddies as at the end of the last episode plus where are all the other officers who would really be doing the work at levels between Captain and Brig?

I'm really finding the series quite frustrating at the moment. I know I'll stick with it to the bitter end but it feels as if TG lit a few sticks of dynamite and lobbed them willy-nilly into everything that made us all love this series in the beginning Sad.

Ilovelblue · 05/07/2018 09:59

I'm still mulling over last night's episode and I don't think I'm quite as eloquent in my thoughts as any of you Rhu, eejit, Flower and others!

Are you ok to go with Friday night Rhu so we can have a three way discussion with eejit?

I suppose the only other operation we saw other than rescuing Georgie where Elvis was involved was the start of series 3 where they were in Syria and we were introduced to Maisie?

A couple of random thoughts which popped into my head as I was watching last night. Any answers anyone?

Would it be normal for a woman soldier to be one of the coffin bearers, given that there were other men around? Maybe I'm being sexist and a friend of mine helped carry the coffin at her father's funeral, but it struck me as odd.

Also, would it be normal to fly out the wife and children of a deceased soldier to accompany the coffin home? Especially to a far flung place like Bangladesh? I had always thought they would be waiting for the coffin at Brize Norton (or wherever).

Were they there just to shock us that Bones had tried it on with Georgie and had had a one night stand with the nurse who was all over Rab like a rash and we assumed he was a free agent?

Enough of Ilove's ramblings. Please let me know about the watchalong and what time (am assuming 9 pm).

Magi84 · 05/07/2018 10:59

It is obviously confusing us all greatly and we are really finding CJ a real worry at the moment. I suppose the good thing about that is it does endorse BA's acting skills as he is certainly portraying the differences very well.

The Daily Mail review today is very scathing but mainly about the actors' non ability to drill well and Georgie breaking hearts wherever she goes.

MarvellouslyMental · 05/07/2018 11:03

I too am struggling to get my head round the CJ/Georgie situation and his personality transformation and hoping it’s his PTSD. He was such a stickler for the rules and regulations in Series 1 and in no way does he represent that character now. Assuming he and Molly have spent some time together during his rehab and hoping what she said in her e-mail was nothing more than her forcing him into getting help. I think the whole thing, for me, would be more believable if it was Georgie who had feelings for him and he was the one trying to put distance between them.

MissEliza · 05/07/2018 12:23

Surely the protocol when a bomb is suspected is not to pick up the package and run around with it?! Silly Bones.
I had a really weird dream about Bones last night Blush.

legolimb · 05/07/2018 14:57

Well I didn't expect that!!!

I guess Bones didnt have any cleared area to throw bomb into?

Or he panicked.

Shame. He was hot 🤣

Ilovelblue · 06/07/2018 13:08

Ladies, watchalong at 9pm. Anyone joining myself Rhu and eejit?

OP posts:
Delphin · 06/07/2018 20:57

I'll join you. Don't know how long I'll stay awake (very short night and a week of overtime getting to me), but I'll do my very best!

Colour me unimpressed by this week's episode. Bones is too angry, and CJ too out of character. Liked Finger's return and my guess is, he'll try again for selection. The police chief and his volunteer wife (plus son) are an interesting addition to the cast. Feels a little bit like with Captain Azizi or Quaseem.

Rhubarb01 · 06/07/2018 20:58

I am here as well, ready to go shortly...
