Shiny new thread.

Hopefully we will see some players return from injury in the next few weeks.

Munich/Istanbul in play this week amongst other tournaments.

Madrid week beginning the 7th (hopefully with Delpo playing)

Some good matches on tomorrow when I’m at work Sad

Quite a lot of the matches start at 10am - think Rafa, Delpo and Djokovic are in action as well as Thiem and dimitrov.

Happy birthday to Andy Murray - quite miss his grumpiness on the court Grin. I’m sure he is enjoying time with his family but will probably want to get back to playing tennis as well.

Raahh · 15/05/2018 20:29

Fizzy I'm oddly missing Andy too Grin. RG won't be the same without him moaning about the overhead cameras on Lenglen Grin.

I have been trying to keep up with the scores today - tomorrow will be trickier, too many appointments.

I'm making no predictions for tomorrow. I caused too many jinxes last week Grin.

looks like Goffin got back into his match, though.

And an interesting start to the Foggy/Thiem match which has now gone to a 3rd set.

Fognini has just gone a break up in the third.
The Isner/Ramos match has gone to a third too, looks very close, two tie break sets then with serve In the third.

JaneJeffer · 16/05/2018 13:17

Fognini in top form. Thiem smashed his racquet in frustration.

Raahh · 16/05/2018 13:18

Grinusually it's foggy doing the smashing.

So, no repeat of last week for Rafa, if he gets past today.

just got out of my my meeting. Rafa wasn't hanging around then .Grin

Fognini is such a talented player. Shame he can't play like that more often!

Unhappy birthday for Dimitrov though...

Raahh · 16/05/2018 17:11

few birthdays over this week- it's Foggy's next week, and Novak's.

Shame about Grigor.

I agree he's great to watch when he's on form.

Kei Nishikori looked the happiest I've ever seen him. He usually keeps a poker face.

Peter Fleming said he doesn't think Tsitsipas has a good grasp of how to serve on a clay court!

Raahh · 16/05/2018 17:11

Fognini, I mean!

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/05/2018 17:13

well, Tsitsipas seemed to be doing ok the week ( before he met Rafa)Grin

(Sorry that was a garbled sentence - trying to type and fend off the dog- It's meant to say he was o.k on clay the other week, before he ended up meeting Rafa in the finalGrin).

I want Del po to win though. He could do with the clay boost.

Fizzywinegum · 16/05/2018 17:37

Delpo just got through now - yes looks like Rafa was in a bit of a hurry Grin

Thiem/foggy match sounded good - foggy can blow hot and cold so who knows how he’ll do in the next round.

It’s my birthday tomorrow Smile and I’m off work so hopefully should be able to watch a bit of tennis.

Kyle Edmund is also playing later - hope he keeps up his good run.

Raahh · 16/05/2018 17:43

Kyle is having a very good year and is proving he can play on multiple surfaces too. Hopefully this will translate to the grass season too.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Fizzy CakeGrin

Fizzywinegum · 16/05/2018 17:48

Thank you Raahh

Yes it would be good to see Kyle doing well on grass although the pressure will be on him especially if Murray still not fit for Wimbledon. Although the pressure doesn’t really seem to bother him - he did well in Australia

Raahh · 16/05/2018 18:01

YY- he seems to have dealt with the pressure of being the 'main' Brit. It's probably in his favour that he's still relatively unknown, and he might like it that way, at least for now.

Happy birthday Fizzy - hopefully some good tennis for you to watch!

Fizzywinegum · 16/05/2018 20:39

Thank you private - would be nice to watch a bit of Rafa and Delpo on my birthday Grin

ladymelbourne1926 · 16/05/2018 21:03

Happy Birthday Fizzy, I hope you have a lovely day and theres some good tennis for youBrewThanksCake

Fizzywinegum · 17/05/2018 10:01

Thanks lady. Apparently I have to go out on my birthday so not sure how much tennis I’ll get to watch!

It is a nice day though and I’m going out with my DM and Dsis so shouldn’t be ungrateful Grin

The matches that I would like to see are on around lunchtime. Djokovic is on later but I’m not so fussed about watching him.

JaneJeffer · 17/05/2018 10:05

Happy Birthday Fizzy Cake

PrivateParkin · 17/05/2018 10:08

Have a nice day Fizzy ! I'm looking forward to the Delpo-Goffin match. Two players I like a lot. I guess Goffin's probably the better clay courter but Delpo could kind of overpower him! Should be a good one.

Raahh · 17/05/2018 11:10

I think Juan could stand a chance, as Goffin has been a bit vulnerable since his injuries. A few points on his serve, and it could go either way.

I think Rafa must be feeling a lot more confident after yesterday. I also think the whole business surrounding the 'consecutive sets' record was becoming a bit of an albatross. It had to end at some point. Of course, much is being made on line about the fact Denis beat him last year in Canada. We'll see...
