Just tuned in. I'm at the wtf is she doing stage 😁

TeaCoffeeCakeGinWine · 27/04/2018 20:32

Just came on here to see if there was a thread. I’m still at the WTF stage! I cannot believe she has taken her kid into a place where she didn’t know whether there would be hostile people at the other end. And to be 4 hours away from medical help etc.. I’m just baffled. I cannot see the appeal.

clearingaspaceforthecat · 27/04/2018 20:43

I think she is very brave. I know I couldn't do it. I think it's fascinating. And they are with her husband/partner. She hasn't just gone somewhere at random.

Stillnotready · 27/04/2018 20:48

She seems such a lovely woman, and very brave. I’d like to be her friend!

Cocolepew · 27/04/2018 20:59

Where do they shop for their clothes ? Do they have to travel to a larger town?
We need a follow up programme.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 27/04/2018 21:13

I watched it. Rather her than me Blush

Despite being so far in the rainforest though, they still get fuel for the outboard motors on those boats?

cushioncovers · 27/04/2018 21:44

I thought she did extremely well despite the heat and isolation she seemed to remain cheerful.

I was intrigued by this so I googled - apparently they have done this all before, they were featured doing EXACTLY the same thing, building the house etc, in 2013 when their daughter was 14 months old? And he had a different name then.

He was lecturing in this country in January 2018 so I presume they came back. So what is actually happening?!

StaplesCorner · 30/04/2018 00:21

Oh I see, they just come back every few months. Hmm! Oh well good luck to them they seem like nice people, but I would have liked to have known the full story from the programme.

Cocolepew · 30/04/2018 19:09

Oh ffs, that's cheating.
I did vaguely remember something similar when I was watching it.

cushioncovers · 05/05/2018 12:43

Brave couple this week. Glad it went well for them.

OP posts:
StaplesCorner · 05/05/2018 14:16

Oh I missed it!! When was it on cushion?

cushioncovers · 05/05/2018 15:02

It was on yesterday evening

I am shouting at the telly tonight. You would have thought that all the internet research and options could have been sorted BEFORE they landed in the country. This couple seem manic to me.

viques · 11/05/2018 20:23

The no shoes thing is bugging me. doesn't he realise that an infected cut in those conditions could scupper every dream they have what with tropical ulcers, infection, sepsis etc.....

I thought nonna was clearly resigned to his little ways, but wonder what the woman's back story is, when they met he was living in a shed, so why didn't she turn and run!

LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2018 20:26

This family are shocking
I’m watching with my mouth hanging open
Those poor kids

Thesunnyside · 11/05/2018 20:27

These people are crazy. Both of them.

LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2018 20:30

Totally
That is not a home
Omg

LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2018 20:31

Medical care ?
Education
Running water ?

salsamummy · 11/05/2018 20:33

OMG absolute madness.

TheSunnySide · 11/05/2018 20:34

Do they even know how to build a safe structure? Ffs.

They are so lucky the kindly Australian gave them a free place to stay and some free land but wtf are they thinking.

LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2018 20:35

As soon as the kids were upset they should man up and say “ right we are insane “ and take those kids out of that
So unresponsible
Poor poor kids

LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2018 20:39

I get the feeling the Australian land owner was shocked how unprepared they were
It’s putting a burden on him too
Did these people seriously think they could rock up in a country and live on a beach / jungle and not work and get everything free

I really really hope they end up back home by the end of this show for the kids sake

salsamummy · 11/05/2018 20:45

Hardly "escape to the country " or "New life in the Sun".Grin

viques · 11/05/2018 20:49

"We need to figure out a way of making money" well if you don't have a flipping work permit!!!! What did he expect to do, cockle picking on a Bali beach?
