Anyone else disappointed with tonight’s Corrie?

All the hype for months about Phelan being caught with the murders and he falls into the bloody water, as I predicted he would! How disappointing! I predict that his ‘body’ will never be found and we will either never see him again or we’ll see him getting to some shoreline only to be getting on a boat to go elsewhere, and Aileens reaction to his murders, to Liz back at the cottage, was very unrealistic, I’m thoroughly disappointed, it was lazy writing imho.

Wtf is happening to our shitty soaps lately?! Emmerdale is as cheesy as hell, and boring, Eastenders has been crap for years and now this! I don’t watch the cheesy Australian soaps.

Yep, totally. It was as good as 'and it was aaallll a dream' IMO.

I was so annoyed, shouting at my boyfriend that now we're going to have to wait bloody months for his stupid annoying very alive face to pop up again! Because that's obviously what's going to happen Angry He's like Rasputin.

And how are they going to get Anna out now with just Eileen's word to go on?

Annoying.

Scotschic · 30/03/2018 23:32

Well the actress that played Anna has left the show and I don’t know if she’s ever coming back!

I thought Sue Cleavers (Aileen) acting wasn’t as good either, most people on Twitter are kissing Corrie’s arse by saying it ‘was the best episode ever’, ffs it was not, maybe they think by kissing the arse of Corries twitter account then they will get a job as an extra or something?! I’ve seen better episodes when there isn’t a major story going on!

Disappointed 😔

Awful writing, such an anti-climax.

Eileen going back to the cottage for a debrief and a cuppa and not down the police station for an interview was just silly.

Scotschic · 30/03/2018 23:47

Exactly, and so not reflective of what would have really happened, it must’ve taken them all of 2 minutes to come up with this storyline!

OP posts:
Scotschic · 30/03/2018 23:48

Plus Eileen didn’t even act that shocked back at the cottage, the actor who plays Phelan deserved better and so did we the viewers.

OP posts:
Scotschic · 30/03/2018 23:55

Also did Phelan say something about Todd? As the amount of people on Twitter who want Todd back disgusts me, after being found guilty of sexual assault ffs, and it was mainly women sticking up for him! ‘There are people who have committed worse crimes and they got back’, ffs what is wrong with people?!

OP posts:
HarrietKettle · 31/03/2018 12:09

Yeah Phelan said he had info about Todd's whereabouts when Eileen was about to kick his hands away.

They were so swift in sacking him even before he was convicted so I doubt he'll see the cobbles or another acting job again! Good.

Yes I feel a Harold story coming on too. Phelan will end up in Anglesey or something and reappear at Eileen's door on Christmas Day is my prediction Grin

therockinggazelle · 31/03/2018 12:40

What was Eileen saying back at the cottage? She said something than said ' I don't know what I'm saying " what was that About? Looked like she was hiding something

SparklyMagpie · 31/03/2018 12:46

@therockinggazelle I thought it was the fact she stood on his hands ??

tryingtobethebestican · 31/03/2018 12:47

I think she was hiding the fact that she stamped on his hands and made him fall in, rather than it being a complete accident. The character of Phelan is such an evil twisted psychopath but I guess if the police knew she caused him to fall in ie didn't help him, then she could be done for man slaughter.

VeganCatLover · 31/03/2018 12:48

I love Phelan Blush it won't be the same without him, I think he genuinely cared for Eileen.

SluttyButty · 31/03/2018 12:55

Thank goodness others think it was a pile of tosh too. I was yelling at dh that it was the worst acting I'd ever seen and his reply was "it's not real dear" 🙄

I've waited months for this and am sorely disappointed Confused

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/03/2018 12:57

He’ll be back and so will Tyrone psycho ex at some point.
I really liked the character of Todd so bring him back with a different actor playing him worked for Tracy and Nick

Scotschic · 31/03/2018 14:14

@SluttyButty

I too thought the acting was crap, especially from Eileen, it was like they too wanted the storyline finished so they just thought ‘we’ll get it over in 2 minutes’, I really don’t understand why this happened, massive let down.

OP posts:
Scotschic · 31/03/2018 14:17

@VeganCatLover

I liked Phelan too and he definitely loved Eileen, you could see the tears in him welling up for her, ahh well she’ll be over living with a murderer of 4, a rapist, and a liar, in about 6 episodes and then she’ll meet someone new! Such is the life of the soap characters Grin

There was a piece in The Guardian about the demographics of the Corrie audience, and it seems pretty clear that the Twitter-using ones are more numerous.

I was wondering if this is chicken-and-egg. Perhaps they pay more attention to Twitter response, and therefore feed that approbation with more similar crap stormy lines. The 'quieter' demographic, the long-term viewer, isn't the one they listen to now. They certainly seemed to stop caring about the history of long-standing characters

Scotschic · 31/03/2018 15:15

Do you mean the likes of Rita, Ken, Audrey? I think Audrey gets a good few storylines, and Gail too, although not so much Rita & Ken, who imo should well be retired by now!

At least we're spared the long drawn out court case, because they are awful.

skippykips · 31/03/2018 15:47

My DP doesn't think he is dead.
He thinks it is a ridiculous end to a long drawn out story.
He thinks he will get his long court case etc.
I'm not so sure.

Scotschic · 31/03/2018 16:28

It’s definitely a ridiculous end to a long drawn out storyline!

The only storyline I’m interested in just now is David’s, although guaranteed that will be drawn out too, but they are trying to make it realistic.

Eva’s pregnancy storyline is an absolute joke, like why wouldn’t she keep the baby?! As we all know she is leaving this summer so I think it’s safe to say that she will change her mind about giving the baby to Manipulative & Miss Know it all Toyah, who is not suited to Peter in the slightest, Peter should get together with Carla! Also Toyahs wardrobe is awful!

OP posts:
Scotschic · 31/03/2018 16:30

Peter should get back together with Carla I should’ve said.

I also shouldn’t have put a capital m for manipulative, sorry

OP posts:
Wishfulmakeupping · 31/03/2018 16:55

Oh I do love Toyah’s wardrobe personally! We do have similar taste I have that floral wrap dress she was wearing last night 🙈

Scotschic · 31/03/2018 16:58

I think she fits in with my idea of a vegetarian and what they might wear iyswim?! I can’t remember her dress from last night but I do think that some of her clothes are too old for her.

She’s suffocating Eva don’t you think? I think that alone would be enough to put me off giving my baby to herGrin

OP posts:
Viviennemary · 31/03/2018 16:58

I thought the run up was quite good but him falling in the water was such a cop out. I wanted him to face the music and loads of time in prison. I also thought he might not be dead and will come back to 'get' Eileen in the cottage. It's a bit mad if she stays their alone after all what's happened. Toyah and Peter are a ridiculous couple. I think he should get back with Leanne.

Wishfulmakeupping · 31/03/2018 17:00

😂🙈well I’ve been veggie since I turned 11 so your assumptions are correct op!
