We all know that the writers read MN after all. Apparently it’s on at 8.30pm this eve?

We could do with a few more normal day-to-day interactions between people such as Steve, Liz, Tracy etc., instead of ridiculous break-ins, attempted kidnappings, furtive sexual encounters and mysterious hooded figures prowling around at night.
Andy's funeral was a surprise; no build up to it at all. Surely it would have been mentioned beforehand.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/04/2018 16:11

The Rana kidnapping was ridiculous, the entire plot lasted about 10 minutes.
I'm convinced the Corrie writers and the Home and Away writers are in cahoots as to who can do the stupidest kidnap plot.

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 21/04/2018 17:04

I looked Summer up to check her age and yep, max of 14. Apparently - according to Corrie Wiki - Summer's dad, the one who gave her to Billy, wasn't actually her biological father. Was that ever mentioned in her early episodes because I don't remember?

Spam88 · 21/04/2018 18:04

I thought she was adopted so I assume it was mentioned?

I thought it was odd that we didn't see Andy's funeral, thought they'd have given him a proper send off.

kikashi · 21/04/2018 18:49

Yes. I thought there would be some graveyard scene for Andy.

I don't remember Summer's dad saying she was adopted (I thought/assumed he had a girlfriend before he was "out" who got pregnant) but I also read that Summer was adopted (by her dad and his boyfriend?). So the grandparents are not biological relations either. Poor kid. I suppose it opens up the possibility for more story lines of relatives popping up (like Faye's).

Yorkshirebetty · 21/04/2018 19:07

Oh, what if Summer turned out to be Seb's sister, given to the gay couple in a paid adoption? (I should write the scripts Grin)

CoolCarrie · 21/04/2018 19:40

Where are Seb’s brother and sister? Are they in care?
Aidan hanging around with Summer will make him see how much he will miss out by not being with Eva and the baby, Toyah will tell him the baby is definitely his, so he will go and find Eva, just in time !

Yorkshirebetty · 21/04/2018 21:27

Yes, the twins got taken into care. As should Summer.

beargrass · 22/04/2018 07:21

I think blueskypink nailed it. I was really disappointed with the Rana kidnap plot. They treated that subject (almost?) with disdain. It's hard to believe that something so complex and multi-faceted as "honour" based violence could be dealt with in what - two episodes? Of which that wasn't the entire storyline. The scriptwriters can't have had any advice whatsoever about how to handle that. And unlike the male tape storyline, were there even any advice lines at the end? If so, I missed them. Terrible.

scrabbler3 · 22/04/2018 08:25

The writers bottled the kidnap storyline. Not that I'm really complaining - several eps of Rana's am-dram parents and one-expression Kate...no thanks.

CrumbliestFlakiest · 22/04/2018 20:04

Kate is very immature. She behaves like a teen in her first relationship. I can't see Rana putting up with her for too long once the star crossed lovers thing wears off.

I'm also seeing Aidan and Summer as him recognising that there is more to fatherhood than paternity.

Summer absolutely should be seeing a social worker, and Eileen would have had to undergo an assessment before being allowed to be her guardian, even temporarily. The Phelan bombshell would have had her removed from there instantly. It's really unrealistic to suggest that a child with her background could bedhop like she seems to.

Agree there are too many dramatic storylines at once. It's impossible to remember everything that has happened to each character. The dizzy hairdresser and the girls settling back into their jobs are decent everyday fodder to allow the Phelan and David storylines to dominate.

Boswellox · 22/04/2018 21:28

At least this week the police and NHS were spared the onslaught on their austerity budgets that Corrers usually inflicts on them.. ;)

kikashi · 23/04/2018 09:07

Indeed Boswell although Rana going awol from the health centre meant Liz had to hire in expensive agency cover.

ChevalierTialys · 23/04/2018 16:50

David in the mirror Sad Jack Shepherd is doing an excellent job. David is so obviously depressed and Gail has noticed but it doesn't need to be spelled out like it was with Steve.

Gary has noticed he's responding like 'something' has happened to him, he said it in the hospital and again outside the hairdressers when they were arguing. I'm really hoping someone puts it together and gets David to talk.

CrumbliestFlakiest · 23/04/2018 18:46

True Chevalier. I think they might put it down to his frustration at his epilepsy preventing him from training properly for the fight, or maybe a delayed reaction to Kylie's death. I don't think anyone would guess what really happened to him. I really can't think of anyone who David would open up to though. He doesn't accept help well.

My guess is that someone is going to hear Josh taunting David at some point and it might come out that way. Either that or Josh will try the same with someone else, and then David will be wracked with guilt that he could have prevented it.

ShowerGel9 · 23/04/2018 18:53

I think David platt. (Jack .P Shepherd ?) has done an absolutely excellent job. Fantastic actor.

Akire · 23/04/2018 19:46

Just catching up, after about lack of social worker! It wasn’t clear if summers birth mum was just having it for gay couple or if she was adopted and no relation to her dad.

Yorkshirebetty · 23/04/2018 19:50

Good scene between Gary and David. Well acted. Alya has turned out quite unpleasant, hasn't she?

Akire · 23/04/2018 19:50

Where is Zee restaurant supposed to be on the street?

Yorkshirebetty · 23/04/2018 19:51

Akire it's part of the new set, up from Roy's and the builder's yard.

Akire · 23/04/2018 20:00

Thanks for that. Have Those two been “mates”? Can’t say I’ve noticed more like work colleagues. No more!

I missed how come Summer was moaning one minute no work experience then next in office at factory. Then back to moaning about no work experience again? Huh?

Akire · 23/04/2018 20:02

It’s ok think I was watching one iplayer and one live so me that mixed up timeline.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 23/04/2018 20:44

Fucking hell, Billy’s rehab under a sunbed?! 😂

OP posts:
Yorkshirebetty · 23/04/2018 20:49

The rehab place was clearly some kind of spa.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 23/04/2018 21:05

Kate and Aliah are really annoying me, Aliah is quite poisonous at the moment - are the writers trying to make us dislike her?

Kate Ian just clingy and suffocating - I hope Zee and Rana get back together they work much better.

The David story is brilliant but I’m getting a bit frustrated with him not telling anyone. The new salon girl is so annoying, I’m disappointed she’s moving in. 😫
