So glad for this thread, I have no one to discuss this with in real life.
Tyler and Cate, I feel sorry for and am frustrated by in equal measure. They seem to be an improvement on how fucked up April and Butch were but it still appears as if its the same mistakes just by a different method. Tyler has fallen back into the role of being the punching bag and just desperately trying to make sure everything is OK, I feel so sorry for him, in lots of ways he is so alone and unsupported. Cate is traumatised by her parents behaviour but, in my opinion, is too quick to leave Nova and prioritise herself. Nova is young now but if Cate keeps choosing the inpatient treatment her daughter will feel just as abandoned as she once did. I'm not diminishing her illness, but I do think she could consider other options before going so far away.
Amber - Total train wreck, pity both children, if she was sensible she would have been sterilised after Leah's birth. I'm not particularly a fan of Gary but at least he has risen above his clearly shitty upbringing to provide a stable home for Leah, I don't think what he's doing is extraordinary but in the context of Teen Mom, providing a normal and reliable home is impressive and worthy of praise. He seems to value family and I think tries to be fair to Amber. It must be fucking frustrating to co-parent with her, she is such a self-absorbed flake.
Farrah- Awful person, awful role model, not great as a mother, but having seen her parents I'm not surprised. The only commendable thing she's done is to create financial stability which is probably why she manages not to have another child, unlike the others who all seem to have too much time on their hands.
Maci - Obviously a good mother and not much to say about her, its Ryan and Mackenzie who are the real fiasco. Ryan is 30 but Mackenzie is what 21? Where are her parents and her family? Jen and Larry are nice people but so deluded, Ryan is going to change the world by saving lives?! Total lack of awareness, more likely he will kill them all.
