Whenever Ive read about experiences of people who have been permanently separated from their biological family, it is commonly felt to be a deeply traumatic and painful existence. There is a human need to know your own kin and culture, and to know at least who your family of origin is, even if they are deeply flawed. Open adoption is superficially cleaner for the adoptive parents, but it disregards the needs and rights of the child.

I also think there is something unethical about someone being permanently and legally bound by a decision they made underage and under duress. How is it even legal for them to sign their child away? They weren't old enough to vote or sign a lease...Caitlin and Tyler were children themselves, and no one was looking or for them. Brandon and Teresa had so much more power in that situation than the people they took a daughter from. They had education, money, advice, lawyers, agency, choices. Caitlin and Tyler had none of that and relied on the adoption agency lady- who clearly has a vested interest in the adoption going ahead. No one was in their corner at all.

Ginger1982 · 22/04/2019 10:08

I get that no one was in their corner and, to an extent, they were probably exploited by MTV and I respect what you're saying but it just seems as though with open adoption the lines are so blurred. Caitlin and Tyler can just appear to wander in and out of Carly's life. It must be so confusing for her to see her birth parents and full sister now seemingly very wealthy as a result of giving her away. It must be hard for Brandon and Theresa to raise her as their child and I can imagine it could get worse as she hits teenage years and starts to rebel. It just all seems very unstable whereas a clean break for everyone might have been better.

But then we don't have open adoption here as far as I know so it was never something I knew anything about until I watched the show.

Ilovemysleepthief · 25/04/2019 14:49

It must be very worrying for B and T to know that as soon as carly is old enough, she will be able to Google all of their past history and how confusing and upsetting and conflicted this will make Carly

x2boys · 25/04/2019 15:08

It's a whole bit mess and I think MTV played a part in that mess, whilst they didn't know how Team mom would work out they could have supported Caitlyn and Tyler more in the beginning to keep Carly, but now it's not about what Caitlyn and Tyler want it's about Carly I feel for them all,Carly ,s getting older she can make her own decisions in a few years , I agree about the adoption last she was very pushy right from sixteen and pregnant if Caitlyn and Tyler haden t become famous I think they wouldn't still be in contact with her .

Ilovemysleepthief · 25/04/2019 15:49

And it suited MTV for them to give her up for adoption, as that was their story line, which they gave more importance to than that of the people who they were filming

x2boys · 25/04/2019 16:06

Oh definitely it made good viewing and that's probably why they picked them as it was different to the rest of the girls, but I think they have to take some of the responsibility for it all.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/04/2019 08:09

God how sad was that scene with luis and Stella poor baby doesn't have a clue who he is

whydoineedanickname · 26/04/2019 09:16

Why was Jenelle not in it at all?

BlodwynBludd · 26/04/2019 09:22

How heartbreaking to see that baby not know her father. Also I just wanted to shout at Kail to get some self respect not keep running back to Chris.

YesimstillwatchingNetflix · 26/04/2019 10:28

Yeah not sure what Kaitlyn thinks is going to happen with Chris. He just throws her crumbs and she comes running.

Would love to see all the women realise they are better off without men for a bit. They are so young, I'm not sure what their rush is.

x2boys · 26/04/2019 10:53

They said something about Jenelle being angry because David was ent allowed to be in the show, but I thought that was a while ago?Don't bite the hand that feeds you!

whydoineedanickname · 26/04/2019 11:14

I felt really embarrassed for kail when Chris showed up. She couldn’t have been more pleased and he really isn’t into her.

Whereland · 26/04/2019 15:34

I CRINGED at Kailyn rushing over to tell Chris he could stay in her hotel and he barely responded

MaHeidsGouping · 27/04/2019 20:51

The kids on the show are all their dads doubles!

I didn't even miss Jenelle until I read upthread that she wasn't in this weeks episode.

TM has got pretty dull, Chelsea hasn't got much to offer apart from feeding in the car. Brianna has the same baby daddy issues, Leah has absolutely nothing going on (which is good for her as past seasons haven't been great for her). Kail is still moaning on about everything and everybody.

Sux2buthen · 27/04/2019 21:10

It's so boring now. It takes about 20 minutes to watch with all the fast forwarding.

MaHeidsGouping · 01/05/2019 09:37

I've just been reading that David has shot and killed one of their dogs!....I hope Jenelle doesn't find a excuse for this behaviour and gets the hell off that land where no-one can help her if David loses it with her or the kids.

YesimstillwatchingNetflix · 01/05/2019 13:12

@MaHeidsGouping oh my god that is hideous. Tells you everything you need to know about him. He is a disgusting violent abusive shit of a person, I don't have any doubt he's abusing everyone under that roof.

How awful. I hope Janelle gets herself and her children away from him before worse harm comes to them.

Not sure if this will work but it's the clip of why the dog got shot Sad, clearly the poor thing was scared.

BlodwynBludd · 01/05/2019 15:33

That's terrible I hope someone gets her and kids out safe. What a horrible man he is.

whydoineedanickname · 01/05/2019 16:04

Why was he letting the baby get in the dogs face if he’s bitten before??

MaHeidsGouping · 01/05/2019 16:42

Could you imagine if that had been the pitbull they have! Why the hell would he be filming that knowing the dog has snapped before. I honestly hope Janelle doesn't brush this away and stand up for him.

Whereland · 02/05/2019 13:48

Last nights episode was so boring I don't even have one comment to make

Shostakobitch · 02/05/2019 20:45

I've just read an unverified account on "The Blast" so I obviously I can't say for sure it's a reliable source, but basically they're saying David actually beat the dog to death before shooting it and this all happened in front of the children. It's just horrific and I am so concerned for those poor kids, especially Kaiser 😪
