Who needs cocoa when you've got a cheeky Sauv Blanc before bed?

I feel disappointed in him too. It's far worse to see someone who is intelligent and sensitive and articulate spending their time with ladz banter and saying so little - and endorsing it with his presence. It demonstrates why our culture is so screwed, doesn't it? If the men who can 'get' it as much as Shane evidently can don't stand up for women.

I can see why he finds Ann's attitude hurtful, but actually I find his own attitude to women as more problematic.

picklemepopcorn · 30/01/2018 11:32

I could forgive Danny for not getting it- he performs a stereotypical male just as Courtney does female. But Danny hasn't educated himself out of his character because he hadn't realised it was problematic. 'I love my mother in law, she's wonderful, all those jokes are just for a laugh, they aren't about real people...'

sheldonesque · 30/01/2018 11:39

umbrella I agree,

This is a man who can put something across so well and has so much to say. And yet chose to bitch.

He isn't honest. He has spoken out - but only after hours of bitching with the boys. And mostly he has just stuck with the bitching.

He showed so much promise. And he let himself down. And that is a shame.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 30/01/2018 11:49

Imagine if he'd spent all those hours in the garden for good.

picklemepopcorn · 30/01/2018 12:05

I respect Shane L, he seems disinterested, impartial. I'm inclined to go along with him.

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 30/01/2018 12:06

Anyone seen that it’s being speculated on that evicted hms are being put back in on the final day?

BrownRedShirtPhobia · 30/01/2018 12:14

Shane L is one the strongest HM, it takes extraordinary character to live without distractions and avoid interpersonal negative drama.

BrownRedShirtPhobia · 30/01/2018 12:18

Shane J has education, a strong character, can debate un-emotionally, has low levels of empathy for others and is manipulative.

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 12:21

Amanda Barrie telling Shane j how she feelis the most awesomnest (not a word)thing i have ever seen I bloody love that woman Shane j just needs to calm down he is getting himself in a total tizz.

sheldonesque · 30/01/2018 12:29

My mission in life is to find the inner peace that Shane L and Amanda possess.

What a gift that would be.

And yes umbrella If ShaneJ had been in the garden educating the ladz instead of winding them up and watching them go, I think he would have brightened the atmosphere.

It was quite wicked what he did.

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 12:31

I know Shane L doesn'tbelieve in woo buthe is very zen isn't he ? just so chilled.

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 12:37

Oo 6 up i predict Malika, Ashley and Shane L (sadly)

Loonoonow · 30/01/2018 12:46

One thing that doesn't square with me about Anne is that she says she accepts everyone for who they are regardless of sexuality, race etc as long as they are kind but she cannot support samesex marriage. How is it kind to deny gay people the same rights as straight people?

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 12:51

I agree but i think she is very traditional religious and right wing and I am totally baffled why she wouldn't want same sex partners to have the same legal rights. Shane j being a self obsessed whinge bag.

UnFuckingAcceptable · 30/01/2018 12:53

Shane J clearly has issues with Ann but I think those issues are totally justified.

I know for a fact that if it were I going into that house and heard that a politician who had during their career, made choices and voted on, campaigned for policies that had a detrimental effect on my life and the lives of those I love, I wouldn't be able to be as composed as he has been.

And all this talk of sly, backstabbing and talking behind people's backs.
Everybody does that.
Everyone.
It isn't always nasty. It is sometimes a way of sounding out your own feelings. Having a conversation with someone about somebody else gives an opportunity for something to be pointed out to you that you didn't see or know or understand.
My Gran is the kindest sweetest person you'd ever meet in your life. Finds the positive in everyone, would probably think Hitler was a nice young man who had some issues and make him a cup of tea but my god she talks about people all the time. It's always because she can't understand why they've done something and it is often us grandkids who say "yes but Gran, x y and z happens these days"

My winner for this series is Amanda as she is a wonderful person but I wouldn't be too unhappy to see Shane win despite it being year of the woman.

QuiQuaiQuod · 30/01/2018 12:54

ANNE IN THE TUB!!!! BRILLIANT!!!!

Shane J- sorry Anne, apols apols lets be friends....
diary room- I nominate Anne to go. Hmm.

Cant believe Ash voted for Shane L.
bloody triple evics. hope Malika and Shane J go, then Ashley poss? Shane J wont go though.

how come Shane J researched Anne before he went in if the HM arent supposed to know who theyll be in the house with?

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 12:57

They now know who they are going in with they never used to in the olden days they went in oblivious.

QuiQuaiQuod · 30/01/2018 12:57

the things Anne voted aginst, in her time in Parliament went through anyway, and like a true democrat, accepted the result.

why are people banging on about it? oh, I know why, cos shes a christian, not Muslim or Jewish.

and that does not make her homophobic or anything else.

She may not change her beliefs but nor will Shane J, so go with what Amanda quite brilliantly says, and that awful song from Frozen, Let it go, let it go .......

MrsJayy · 30/01/2018 12:59

I don't want Shane j to win for the simple reason Andrew would be a gloaty fecker.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 30/01/2018 13:02

The men went in late and watched the show. I think they showed the women their intro VTs to even it up a bit.

Wayne's nomination of Ann rather summed up the issue I would have with her, I think. Or rather the certainty of her opinions too, as well as how they're delivered.

I don't need Ann to introduce me to world affairs so I wonder how easy it would be for someone like me (probably Rachel is the closest in those terms) to be with Ann, because she is dogmatic and shuts down opinions she doesn't like.

She definitely has redeeming qualities, and I cheer on a woman showing men that their opinions don't always get to define a woman's view of herself when they obviously take that for granted. Someone's politics really don't define whether I like them.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 30/01/2018 13:05

I think it's rather unfair to be accusing posters of being anti-Christian.

Personally the opinion that I would have ended up arguing with her most I think is the mothers being wrong to go out to work. Which isn't remotely related to her religion, but is, I think, reflective of her limited personal life experience and her attitude to her own opinions.

UnFuckingAcceptable · 30/01/2018 13:52

I dislike Ann.
I dislike her views.
I disagree with the policies she supports.
I have found no common ground while watching her in this TV show.

Don't remember mentioning my faith so an assumption that people don't like Ann=Anti-christian is a bit of a jump.

Missrabbitneedsabreak · 30/01/2018 13:54

In response to people saying Shane J should have pulled the other guys up more on their misogyny - I agree, as we didn't see him do this enough, however if you listened to the exit interviews on Friday (i think on BOTS) the lads were saying that Shane would pull them up their behaviour and would use a thumbs down to show them when they'd taken things too far.
Andrew and Dapper are both pricks but to be honest Anne's misogyny offends me more. I think it's more dangerous when an influential woman is misogynistic and has anti-women views. For example I found her victim blaming re HW unforgivable and loathsome

Gannicusthemannicus · 30/01/2018 14:01

If I were in a house with Ann for 3 weeks, I would not be nearly as calm as Shane J. I think what Amanda said to him was patronising, illogical and petty and my estimation of her has gone right down. At the very least Ann is a strong woman who does not, in any way, need protecting or having her fights fought for her.

Missrabbitneedsabreak · 30/01/2018 14:11

I agree gannicus
