Only just discovered this joy of a programme. Dh and I are addicted. We wurled through season 1 and are half way through season 2. Snug warm English charm is how I might describe it. Anyone else liked It?

We love it. I wish it wasn't over.

There is a petition doing the rounds to give to MC in the hope of him writing another series. Lots of Detectorists have signed it ( me too). He’s writing a film with a similar feeling apparently but he has said if Toby Jones was up for it and he thought of a good storyline he’d write another.

In other news......I found a silver sixpence and several musketballs yesterday annnnd I was asked if I was a metal detector by a lady rambler.... it made me 😊

Absolutely wonderful programme. Series one was great, series two good (was not that interested in the whole Botswana storyline) but series three the best of all. So sad that it might be the last.
McKenzie Crook is indeed a genius in his writing of this. So warm and kind, but so well observed and poking fun in a fond way at 'Englishness', but gently celebrating it too. And so bloody funny.

I don't know if I want MC to write another series, the last one ended so perfectly.

Geeky It was so subtle. That's what made it so moving for me.

That 'best returning sitcom' category is a tough one! Chose Detectorists though.

I think they're right to leave it as the last series. It's gone out on a high.

Thanks for the link for the comedy awards.Have just voted.Kept hearing about how good it was and finally got around to watching. DH was not too fussed at the start but loves it too.We've just finished series 1 and think it's absolutely sublime.Going to ration ourselves to two episodes at a time,as already don't want it to end.

I've just rewatched all three series and thoroughly enjoyed them all again. The last episode is just perfect - I laughed and cried and really felt for these characters. Wonderful wonderful tv.

I also loved watching Jonny Flynn in Lovesick which is another subtle but lovely Netflix show

I've just watched series one again, will do two tomorrow.

I downloaded the theme from iTunes because of this thread. It's a beautiful song for a beautiful piece of quality television.

Bloody LOVE this programme and have been raving about it to anyone who will listen since series one.

I initially watched it as I'm a bit of a detectorist myself and there was curiosity to see if he was taking the piss... but it's so real and so beautiful and so understated.

Apparantly it turned MC into a bit of detectorist in RL too... the hawker's whistle in series 3 is a find of his own... better than anything I've ever found!!
