Waiting out for the next series of Our Girl set in Nigeria. Some of us are still mourning the passing of Elvis Harte. All discussions on Captain James and his team welcome here (as well as other things from time to time).

Well that's it for this week ladies. Sorry I kept losing my place. I tried to find out where Rhu was up to and instead of fast forwarding, I kept taking it back to the beginning. I don't use the DVD player too often - maybe I need to practise.

Sorry needed 100 per cent attention for that

I seem to have been slightly behind you both for some reason but enjoyed how much of CJ we saw in OG 1 brilliant

Flowerfan · 23/01/2018 22:01

I think that was my trouble as well ilove I kept losing you
Well until next week

Ilovelblue · 23/01/2018 22:02

Not sure if any of you have seen this. Looks as if BA's agent has updated his CV or showreel or whatever it's called in the entertainment world.

I had forgotten how tacky "Reign" was. BA looks so young in some of his roles. I still like him as CJ best of all.

It does seem to have gone so quiet on here but until we get more news of the next set of episodes, we're a bit stuck really.

I did wonder if it would follow McMafia which probably has another 4 episodes to run?

Any thoughts?

Sorry, just wandered off for a little bit. Not sure if they'll put OG back on a Sunday ilove. I'm guessing they'll stick to a week night again on Tuesday or Wednesday. There are 5 weeks left to go on Silent Witness on Tuesday nights. Perhaps it'll be on after that?

Magi84 · 24/01/2018 09:00

Enjoyed the watch along comments. However my MN connection was dreadful and just kept failing, so frustrating. So I gave up and have read them all this a.m.

Everything I've read lately seems to indicate that the "Nigeria tour" episodes are going to air in April so here's hoping it's very early April! Like Rhu I'm hoping for mentions of Molly and happier times.

eejittwo · 29/01/2018 18:14

Enjoying the comments on OG1, which I have never seen - only having started on OG2 because of LP.
Was re-watching (the early, watchable bits of) OG3:4 and noticed that, in the medical centre back in Kabul, with Rab in bed, Elvis talking to Dyno, and Maisie bringing imaginary grapes, Georgie is still in her blood-soaked shirt-thing with a plastic pinny on. Eh? Surely she would have changed?

Ilovelblue · 30/01/2018 11:05

Morning everyone. Lovely and sunny here and about to go and work in the garden.

It's been like the Marie Celeste on here since our last watchalong. Have you all gone into hibernation?

eejit I'm a big LP fan now as you might have guessed, but had never even heard of him before OG2. I watched OG3:3 last night and found myself admiring Elvis's bum, albeit in a bloodstained uniform, at the end after the shootout! If you had watched the first series with Molly Dawes, I think you would really see the difference between OG1 and OG2 and 3. CJ seemed so different and boy, did we all fall for him!

Tonight's episode was where I really fell in love with him. I am sure you will almost hear us swooning over the coco pops and the coffee request in Molly's med tent!

Who is up the watchalong tonight? Rhu? Flower?

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 30/01/2018 11:06

eejit sorry, forgot to say, but Georgie was probably too busy packing her "going out clothes" for her night out in Kathmandu with the NGO guy to have packed spare uniform to replace the bloodstained stuff!

Is watchalong on tonight?
I need a while to organise our rather ancient DVD player ( and myself of course) I seemed to be slightly behind all the time last week!

Ilovelblue · 30/01/2018 17:57

Flower I completely botched it last week. I realised Rhu was a little ahead of me so I tried to fast forward and every time ended up hitting the rewind button!

Evening - I will be present on duty at 9pm. Sorry about being AWOL all week but I have the watchalong in my diary!

I may not have been contributing much recently but I did spend some time this week considering CJ - not difficult Grin - specifically what might be troubling CJ in series 3 in relation to his life/home/Molly etc. I thought about the situations in which he seemed troubled/terse etc apart from the obvious moments relating to Elvis. He's particularly bothered/irritable around the orphan children and while sitting in the tent with Kingy who is talking about his kids -something which he does a lot during the Nepal tour. I reckon that added to CJ's issues around that last disastrous mission, the betrayal of Azizi, going to whisper now sssh....the loss of Elvis, he's reached an age where he feels he is missing out on a family life. As much as Kingy talks fondly about his kids/wife etc, he can't have been at home very much. Unlike the still happy CJ in series 2 who told Dr Boring how it can work with a wife who is the army, I think he's regretting the absences. I don't necessarily think that anything is wrong between him and Molly (fingers crossed) but they are at different stages in the their life/careers.

I know most of us are thinking that CJ will be leaving the army by the end of part three but I do think, hope and pray it's for a new life in civvy street and a more ordinary life. There's two words you wouldn't expect to see in the same sentence - 'CJ' and 'Ordinary'.

Anyway, looking forward to those halcyon days of series 1 - ahhh I can almost smell the Rosabaya!

eejittwo · 30/01/2018 18:48

ilove - couldn't stop laughing when I read you'd been admiring Elvis's bum. I'd been doing exactly the same, in exactly the same scene, only the other night!
I do recommend you have a look at Musketeers. It's particularly cute when LP as D'Artagnan is thinking / working something out - you can almost SEE the wheels going round! The leather trousers are a bit baggy, though.
Interesting, given what you all say about OG1, to think how it would have played out, had Molly been in OG2. Wouldn't have been the OG2 storyline, of course, but it couldn't just carry on from OG1, could it?

Rhubarb01 · 30/01/2018 20:41

eejit it's a good question as to what OG2 would have looked like if Molly (LT) had been in the series. It would be fascinating to know what TG might have planned for her. The biggest conundrum would have been how, if at all, to factor in CJ or Two Section. I imagine that Molly and CJ wouldn't have been able to serve together, certainly not in the direct chain of command and I suppose it wouldn't be considered a good idea full stop to have them in the same place at the same time. Still, I'd have been happy with some Molly and CJ at home scenes instead - well when I say some I mean a lot!

Ilovelblue · 30/01/2018 20:49

eejit I saw an interview online where LP was asked if he preferred Musketeers garb or army uniform and he said he preferred the Musketeers get-up because it made him feel "thoroughly badass"!

I agree with what Rhu said about CJ and Molly not being able to serve together. We debated this long and hard whilst we were waiting out for series 2 to air. I do wonder, as does Rhu by the sounds of it, what TG would have had in mind as by then, he must have known that Ben had a pretty large following.

Anyway, off to grab a drink now before 9 pm and hope I'm not as hamfisted with the DVD remote as I was last week!

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 30/01/2018 20:59

I am here and have grabbed myself a drink as well. All ready to go but realising we have to sit through the long UK section without CJ.

kazzaD66 · 30/01/2018 20:59

Enjoy Ep 3. I'd love nothing better than to join you but as DH knows nothing about my CJ obsession interest in OG, not sure how I'd explain it to him Confused. I look forward to reliving it vicariously through your comments tomorrow!

Ilovelblue · 30/01/2018 20:59

Yes, that bit is boring. Smurf irritates me.
