Busyboysmum, it's quite worrying what teenagers are absorbing, isn't it? My son (who also tentatively identifies as bisexual although entirely in theory so far) seemed never to have been presented with any alternative views although I know he spends a lot of time online talking about trans issues and attacking 'transphobes'. He had no idea that most transwomen don't have GRS for example - his argument was that women shouldn't exclude transwomen from safe spaces because they pose no threat and he was shocked to find out how many of them had penises, and that some have been convicted of rape. More worrying to me was his reaction to my suggestion that relaxing our ideas of what 'gender' involves might make some people feel freer in themselves. (Not saying this is true but it's a point of view). He had literally never thought about gender roles and the impact on the trans movement. Basically there's this absence of critical thinking but a mantra that you can't question it for fear of offending 'people'.

Thehairthebod · 10/01/2018 11:25

I think this whole thing of men slowly realising that if the statement 'transwomen are women' is true, they would be expected to be attracted and have sex with men who now 'live as women' is going to peak trans a lot of the male population. It's only when it's something that affects them that they will start to care.

It would be sad if it took men speaking out about this to turn the worm, when women have been doing it for ages and been accused of transphobia, but if we can stop this nonsense, then maybe we can get back to more pressing feminist matters Smile

Thehairthebod · 10/01/2018 11:32

I have been bugging my DH about this for a while. He is not into twitter, social media and definitely when it comes to gender critical/trans issues, so is happily clueless about this issue.

When I first started voicing my opinion on trans issues to him, he said I was 'selectively liberal' and said it was transphobic etc. He said that that 'letter to the women who called me a TERF' letter sounded like something Britain First might write about Muslims. But as I have argued my points, I know that he is starting to see things differently.

However, a turning point came the other night when I asked him if he would have sex with a transwoman, and if not why not? I think he is close to peak transing!

I know the above post makes it sound like all I do is talk about trans issues with my DH, we do have lives outside of that as well! Generally he is still very meh about it and puts his hands over his ears when I start talking about it! Grin

I'm going to be very geeky and make a minor point, that the twinge-inducing Dr Who 2015 Christmas day special that India referred to watching a few months post op (having had the surgery in Sept 2015) was The Husbands of River Song, and there are no daleks in that episode!

QuiQuaiQuod · 10/01/2018 12:47

HE DID THE RAP! HE DID THE RAP! HE DID THE RAP!

and he should have won for that.

Shane L. cant sing but i was moved, thought it was sweet.
wow, courtneys a good singer.

Ashley and Gnuwine? really, agree with othjers about why be with someone with so many kids by diff women? hes on the wrong show, should be on jeremy Kyle!

Malika, FOff, lame excuse about Anne.

RJ seems to be coming across a bit better, less goady towards Anne and more friendly. Course, could be a game plan.....

whos Dapper?

was PML at Johnnys screaming in the shower with the sellotape.

IW just wont accept any apologioes. although whyu they should be apologising i dont know. takes everything too personally.

Emma looks like Lisa Stansfield IMO.

busyboysmum · 10/01/2018 12:50

Cecily I thought India was talking about this Christmas. And that India finally realised things were settling down below because this sensation was felt.

QuiQuaiQuod · 10/01/2018 12:50

BTW I find Cybermen sexy!!!! the ones in 'Revenge of the Cybermen' , a Tom Baker Doctor Who, in rubber silver suits....ooh er, missus!

Im all for Anne, Amanda,JB, he spoke so eloquently last night in the IW conversation. and liking Shane L, never liked him before. and Shane/Courtneys brilliant. think hes going to win the whole tthing.

Not sure about Maggie. and Daniel, every other word begins with F. dont like him at all.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 10/01/2018 12:57

The Husbands of River Song, and there are no daleks in that episode!
Grin I like someone who knows their stuff.
Mind you, India is just a mess of contradictions spewing whatever suits her story at the time, just like the drag queen phobia despite the photographic evidence to the contrary at the Gay Pride she's never attended.

IW just wont accept any apologioes. although whyu they should be apologising i dont know. takes everything too personally
Well it's one because as Malika identified quite correctly, India has a permanent victim mentality and two because they are all treading on eggshells. As well as not wanting to be singled out accused as transphobic there's the issue of living 24/7 at close quarters. Every hour in there must seem like three or four in outside life, especially when India's playing up.

busyboysmum · 10/01/2018 12:57

I like Ann. I was really glad she wasn't up for eviction as she may well be voted off as I would imagine the young voters don't like her.

I've never voted and still won't be. But I will be watching with interest. I imagine India will go TBH.

MadgeMak · 10/01/2018 13:01

I've just caught up on last night and tonight's BBOTS.. Rylan has really pissed me off. "India isn't here so we can't say how she feels" but it's ok to say something might happen between Ashley and genuine? He can't possibly know how anyone feels unless they fuckn say it 😡*
Won't be watching bbots again!*

This! Every time the panel has a conversation about India, Rylan caveats it with “she’s not here to defend herself!” No one else seems to get that protection.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 10/01/2018 13:02

Hard to imagine who will vote to save Johnny other than his own family. He is a vacuum, and not even the only attractive man in there.

Although canny voters obviously will vote to save him to evict India. Will there be enough of them?

CecilyNeville · 10/01/2018 13:07

busyboysmum oh, you might be right, but almost two and a half years to settle down seems ages.

fleshmarketclose · 10/01/2018 13:07

I might have to vote for Jonny even though I never vote mainly because I can't stand IW but also because I'd really like to see more of all the rest and we won't whilst IW is in there with the "it's all about me" attitude.
Am I the only one who thought Daniel's stage name was Dapple Arse Blush? Dd had to correct me Grin I blame it on the southern accents elongated vowels though.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 10/01/2018 13:10

I have a colleague who has just had gender reassignment surgery and she needs to take three months off work. So September to Christmas, assuming that at the end of the three months she's expected to be able to work again and lead a normal life, seems reasonable.

Although India said the operation was nothing and not painful. I think there may be some defensive minimising going on there.

QueenLaBeefah · 10/01/2018 13:37

I utterly refuse to believe that the operation isn't painful! Does India ever tell the truth.l? One delusion after another.

busyboysmum · 10/01/2018 13:37

Cecily it was just how I read what India said. Not saying I'm right. I thought it was a recent experience.

I do believe that it takes a long time though for things to settle down and even longer for people to get used to the different sensations. I understand that you have to dilate every day as well for some time even though it must be very sensitive.

busyboysmum · 10/01/2018 13:40

Cecily ignore me - you are right.

"After India made the bizarre revelation, Rachel managed a polite nod while Amanda was less tactful and opened her mouth in shock.
Discussing the moment with her two housemates, India explained: "My surgery was in September, and then it got to Christmas Day and it was the Christmas Day special of Doctor Who.
"I was sat there with my tea in my lap - eating away - and then a Dalek came on screen... and I just felt a twinge."
She added with smile: "It was a really nice feeling, and things were getting better."

CecilyNeville · 10/01/2018 13:47

Just had a look at the odds - Dapper is 4th favourite to win. He must appeal to a huge amount of people, which seems utterly baffling.

busyboysmum · 10/01/2018 13:56

I cannot understand the appeal of Dapper. He's gross and not in the slightest bit funny or interesting or talented.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 10/01/2018 13:58

He's a geeeeeezer.

MrsJayy · 10/01/2018 14:08

After Stephen Bear won nothing surprises me but Daniel4th favourite he is repulsive

badabing36 · 10/01/2018 14:15

Am I the only one who thought Daniel's stage name was Dapple Arse blush?

No but I’ve been calling him Crapper Laughs in my head, not very clever I know but it gets to the point. I know what you mean though the way he says laughs is really strange to my northern ears.

I don’t know now, don’t think I want to vote for Johnny as he reduced feminism to women not wanting doors opening for them Angry -stupid little git, I found it annoying that Courtney went along with it too.

I am starting to feel sorry for IW in spite of myself, she seems to have a lying problem. Plus she is critical of changes to the gra.

I agree with the stiltedness of bots and the show itself in regards to gender. After reading the RJ article I felt it was weird that she has not voiced an opinion, likewise AW doesn’t even raise an eyebrow. Can’t tell her if this means that they’ve had a warning from the producers or just incredibly smart controlled people.

It’s ok for the men to ask questions though Hmm.

Royalfuckup · 10/01/2018 14:20

I actually felt a bit sorry for India when India described having an orgasm. It came straight after Rachel starting something about “the best thing about a female orgasm” before trailing off and turning to Amanda exclaiming “you know! You know exactly what I’m talking about”

India immediately pounced on it by describing a female orgasm with more authority than the two women. But what IW is feeling is the remains of the penis nerve endings, which may be closer to an orgasm experienced by clitoral stimulation but not a vaginal orgasm.

Still, IW was adamant that IW knew exactly what a female orgasm felt like.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/01/2018 14:24

Ann's opinion

tiffanysfanny · 10/01/2018 14:25

I agree with malika. It won't be long before Ann is kicked off the show like biggins. The other choice for me would have been India, but for Ann absolutely agree. Can people stop calling her a coward for that choice.
