Ooh schaden not me on any kind of cooking thread. I know nothing. (Since when has that ever stopped me pontificating?)

Miles Jupp on next year's SCD? Yes please!

ThursdayLastWeek · 20/11/2017 20:22

I think I'd like a bastardisation of the husband/wife faux competition with Ant vs Dec.

Re dancers staying friends with their Pros, Zoe Ball is the obvious one - she went to Ian's wedding and once seriously dented Fatboy Slim's streetcred when she said in an interview that Ian would come over for dinner and he and Norman would listen to show tunes together!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 22:02

Oooh, yes Thursday.

They are like conjoined twins - I don't know how they'd cope set against each other, or when one of then went out.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 22:04

Join in Masterchef Fuzzy - you'll love it!

The Gregg hatred, the sous-vide everything, the beards - it's great!

StrictlyCalmanDancing · 20/11/2017 22:08

We were talking about showdances in work today and I was the only one who remembered Erin doing one with, I think Colin Jackson that involved dummies? Does anyone else remember this? I can't seem to find it on YouTube and beginning to wonder if I've invented it in my head!

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 20/11/2017 22:11

I think Erin has asked Google to suppress all footage of Dummy Dance under Right to be Forgotten legislation. As a diehard Colin Jackson fan the memory still makes me shudder.

IhaveChillyToes · 20/11/2017 22:14

Yes I think I remember it were they dressed in pink and blue baby grows before onesies were a thing

With a spinning cot or playpen

Or was it a bad dream?

StrictlyCalmanDancing · 20/11/2017 22:16

Yes to pink and blue!!

I'm glad others remember it, was starting to think I'd hallucinated it.

I too was a Colin fan and remember being gutted they'd lost it with that dance

GrouchyKiwi · 20/11/2017 22:17

Yy, Fuzzy, join us on the dark side. You don't have to cook to be involved with the show. Just ask Gregg.

I think Anne Keothavong would be good on Strictly. She always looks very elegant.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2017 22:24

Had to look her up Grouchy. She looks like she would give them a dance for their money!

TimFromRuislip · 20/11/2017 22:27

I'd love Andy Murray to come on and surprise everyone by being really into it and enthusiastic.
bit delusional

TheDrsDocMartens · 20/11/2017 22:49

Ooh comedians, reckon there’s a lot of potential there. Hugh Dennis? Ramesh thingy? Ed Byrne?

HangryHanderson · 21/11/2017 00:39

Here you go Calman
Dummygate. Best crash and burn. Poor Erin.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv_Vhhj3-H0
I always stick up for her though. End of pier act maybe but she was trying to prove he was leading not being steered by her (cough Tony Beak, Brenda, Kev...I've seen your hands, tis like makaton sometimes) That year Zoe's freestyle beat both Colin and the Dancing Wardrobeâ„¢ (Darren) into a cocked hat.
Regarding showdances I am always surprised that Kristina seemed to be one of the few to get that it needs to be a showy medley. Invariably the freestyles let me down. But they had Hanna Kartunnen on at least three times to showcase the athletic ones.
That's why I even stick up for Brenda's snow dance/bacofoil freestyle. Given they were told to emulate this the week before
m.youtube.com/watch?v=xmXV0Fu0ehg
Aston and Janette and AJ and Cloudia had decent chances off pulling off that style not in a roast turkey going into the oven way.
Shame. The only finalist who has been successful with that type of freestyle, as well as incorporating tango etc was Denise Van Outen. She did a very good job.

^ more showdance champs. I will vindicate your choreo Brenda! Wink

StrictlyCalmanDancing · 21/11/2017 01:10

Thanks Hangry!!

I felt so bad for them watching it back, you could tell how proud they were and they just deflated as the judges spoke. Especially as Craig damned it with faint praise.

One of my favourite show dances ever was this:

CaveMum · 21/11/2017 07:10

Aww no, someone mentioned DummyGate! Wink

You're going to bring down the wrath from high atop the thing! Go outside, turn around, spit and curse! Grin

Ceto · 21/11/2017 07:18

They are both stage PERFORMERS though, so are not as frightened as some of the others.

Surely the majority of people who go on Strictly are performers in one way or another? Even the sportspeople are used to being in the spotlight.

NumberEightyOne · 21/11/2017 07:55

A couple in the DWTS final did a show dance to Puttin' on the Ritz. It was good but not a patch on Danny and Oti's.

HangryHanderson · 21/11/2017 08:11

No, I saw that, he's favourite to win. Although some say Lindsey might (not me, actual fiddling while dancing to prove you can multitask is not creative, Mark Phallus, it's lunacy! Unless you'd done it all to Rock me Amadeus with appropriate wigs then I may have let you off).
I liked Drew's best to Kellie's music and he went out (probably due to the indie pause in the middle, Emma should really know better).

m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLK1f1bOs9XycmWUYVeE12GKH1ZjoTtCcD&v=HLD1AnD_wW8 Ritzy Ringer
m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLK1f1bOs9XycmWUYVeE12GKH1ZjoTtCcD&v=VUBxPuyUD7w Phallus Fiddler
m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLK1f1bOs9XycmWUYVeE12GKH1ZjoTtCcD&v=7q441KqHllI Dongy Daddy

then you had Malcolm in the middle's with his drum bothering, which also left me cold (not that the producers advice to go for a lighter comic number would have done it for me either. Shit, I saw his movie week dammit. Shocking advice).
m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLK1f1bOs9XycmWUYVeE12GKH1ZjoTtCcD&v=dmuPRSneRi0 another big dong

The redemption dances had crap music plus Jordan and Lins had little to redeem but here's her QS.

HangryHanderson · 21/11/2017 08:29

My own personal freestyle in my head (I have many dances in my head - my other half points out many of them involve me or my partner going into the light and maybe I shouldn't give up the day job) is:

Metro Station Shake it
Let's drop (salsa drop)
First verse (tango)
Knee slide
Paso bit
Chorus (jive)
Pro copying my awesome moves obvs
Shake it (some shaking, natch)

I also had a Bollywood number but Will Young did it, the cad. Wasn't to Jai Ho though, was to maahi ve because the chorus is awesome (in my head Anita and Gleb danced a freestyle to this and won. In a parallel universe).
m.youtube.com/watch?v=1BWdglekty0

I also choreoed a Mulan routine in my head before Val went and nicked it and a hobbity rumba before DWTSireland botched it.
Happy times. I would like to see a Katya freestyle though. Kev - not so sure, he has had a chance four times now and though I liked Kellie's no. it was, frenetic and her dress and wig were a disaster, Lou's was contempowaftybollox , Frankie's was all right grandstanding band standing iirc jumping on things, Susanna's had a lot of dry ice). I want to be dazzled!!

HangryHanderson · 21/11/2017 08:49

m.youtube.com/watch?v=jYNWfI3dPzU
Well I found my freestyle but it's a disco number (from 2.12) I don't do disco. It would be a belter of a track though. I like the arrangement -you could do a promenade thingy after the chorus.
Derek also did a jive to it but I don't like the shaky bits, love the kicks n flicks though.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=BUNMR3qqI_U

ShirleyPhallus · 21/11/2017 09:54

HangryHanderson I also choreograph my own, winning, routines all the time

It’s quite the comedown when I realise I haven’t actually won. Or even am part of SCD.

Inkanta · 21/11/2017 10:35

Crikey what's going on.

Is this still the Strictly thread ! Smile

Debbie to win. Come on Debbeh!!

ppeatfruit · 21/11/2017 10:38

Yes I did wonder that too inkanta But I part company with you about Debbie!
