Phew, just caught up. Overall it was a good night, I thought. I absolutely loved Ruth and Anton's paso, but I thought it had a load more dance content in it than anyone said. I watched it twice running, and I think it was much more than a comedy routine, although the end did make me laugh. Perhaps it was funnier in the studio? From Darcy's comments about the faces Ruth was making I wonder if there was more characterisation than we saw. I thought the singer (whether you love her or loathe her) should have got her own round of applause for her solo, was surprised Tess didn't do that. Another gaffe from Shirley, about 'not a household in England who didn't enjoy that'. Some of us up in Scotland also rather liked it, Shirl!
Anyone spot the Man In the Hat waving during the introductions? I think he might be reading Monkseal and knows he has a fan club.
Bruno has been much less annoying these last two weeks. His week off must have done him good - I found him much more amusing than usual.
I'm afraid I was bored in Debbie's tango and I fast forwarded it, so I was then a bit surprised by the judge's comments and marked. Couldn't be bothered to rewind and watch though.
Hey, thanks whoever it was for telling me about Darren and Lilya on ITT on Monday and Tuesday. I watched it, and it was lovely to see them again. I'm very envious of Rep of Ireland where they're judges. They'd make good replacements for Darcy and Bruno... or perhaps Lilya as a judge replacing Darcy, and Darren replacing Tess as presenter.
I loved seeing Susan's wife in the VT (I forward through most of the VTs but I always watch Susan). I'm old enough to remember when same-sex couples couldn't so much as hold hands publicly, and it makes me so happy that I now live in times where a woman can talk about her wife and no-one bats an eyelid. I know homophobia is far from dead and buried, but it reminds me how far we've come. And I thought Susan looked gorgeous, not a bit Krankee-esque! Couldn't believe how much energy she threw at that jive, it was fantastic.
