It's not that Debbie has just kept a degree of physical fitness - being taught dancing to such a high standard has a knock on in terms of so many different things - she knows the lingo, knows what's being asked of her, can retain a complex routine, has the muscle memory to keep straight arms or pointed toes, has the poise of a dancer. It's not like someone who did a few ballet classes in the church hall, she was with the Royal Ballet and Iran national ballet for years.

So, so unfair to people like Ruth and Susan who are true novices.

Dailystuck71 · 04/11/2017 20:30

I’ve missed tonight. Who got what scores?

hoyhoy44 · 04/11/2017 20:30

do they keep moving the audience, when they show the celebs guests they seem to keep changing seats unless its the camera angle, one minute they are front row, the next in the middle

did anyone notice shirley's hand gestures during Johnnies and otis dance not sure what she was waving around at ?

RosyWelshcakes · 04/11/2017 20:31

I've said it before, years of working with a very demanding, very expert magician is probably doing her more favours than any ballet training

I couldnt care less about her Ballet training. It was decades ago. Just as me being a competition level figure skater was. It doesn't count when Im at the rink nowadays.

And lets not pretend AB has never danced in her life before. Hmm

IhaveChillyToes · 04/11/2017 20:33

I love Debbie and she has kept in supple shape with Pilates and yoga

I grew up watching her and Paul on TV

Love how Giovanni is with her it seems really genuine friendship

RosyWelshcakes · 04/11/2017 20:34

Yes I recall reading about that a long time back.

PoppyPopcorn · 04/11/2017 20:35

Just as me being a competition level figure skater was.

But Rosy, if you were on Dancing on Ice you'd find that after a few session on the ice it would all be coming back to you. It's very unfair.

luckyDuvet · 04/11/2017 20:38

Am loving Debbie and Giovanni too. Who gives a stuff if she's a ringer -they get all these pop stars on who've danced in videos and stuff, loads of celebs will have done some dance. I don't want to sit here and watch a load of crappy newsreaders etc.

And Debbie is nearly 60 FFS!

CeeBeeBee · 04/11/2017 20:39

I never really cared about Giovanni before but he and Debbie make a good team. He's very funny on ITT and it's clear that he really admires Debbie.

FuzzyCustard · 04/11/2017 20:41

I'm the same age as Debbie and I can see quite a difference in her (ballet orientated) and me (three ballet lessons at age 6 and then went horse riding)!

carolmusic · 04/11/2017 20:42

I agree with you @PoppyPopcorn, she shouldn’t be on the show. Every dance she’s done good but I’m not surprised with that training. Someone like Gemma or Joe who haven’t done this level of dancing but are improving should be in the final.

luckyDuvet · 04/11/2017 20:46

Yes, but Gemma is boring as hell to watch!

TheSassyAssassin · 04/11/2017 20:47

Haha Fuzzy snap! Though I was 5! If it were Strictly Come Riding I'd be top of the leader board like Debbie! Grin

RosyWelshcakes · 04/11/2017 20:48

She was hardly at the Iranian Ballet Grin before she had to flee back to the UK because of the Revolution so it was hardly a long and illustrious career as a Ballet Dancer.

ptumbi · 04/11/2017 20:51

I can't stand DebbieMcGee - couldn't stand her husband either.

I read an article where he would whistle for her across a stage in rehearsal. Like a dog.

FuzzyCustard · 04/11/2017 20:51

Ha ha Sassy...I like the idea of SCRiding! Rising trot, you newbies???

TheSassyAssassin · 04/11/2017 20:54

That would be brilliant Fuzzy with Craig saying "totally wrong diagonal the whole way around!!" Grin

Horsemad · 04/11/2017 20:55

Haha, loving the thought of SC Riding! Grin

TheSassyAssassin · 04/11/2017 20:57

I might have to pitch this idea! Grin

NumberEightyOne · 04/11/2017 20:57

I think that Debbie's career as a dancer was never fully realised hence her becoming a magician's assistant. It's wonderful to now see her show everybody what she can do at 59 years of age.

In a nutshell.

FuzzyCustard · 04/11/2017 21:01

"Dahling...you just didn't cross the school cleanly at A and your collected trot was simply awwwwwful"

TheSassyAssassin · 04/11/2017 21:02

Heels down! And your thumbs....just wrong! Wink

FuzzyCustard · 04/11/2017 21:08

I'd be most looking forward to the horses....from AJ the green colt to Brenda, a knackered old racehorse!

Faffandahalf · 04/11/2017 21:08

I think Debbie is great. I would love her to win.
As for the AB hate, it's the William sisters effect. Strong confident successful outspoken black women seem to be an issue in our society. These are traits lauded in any other scenario but a black woman woth confidence is just a black woman with an attitude problem. It's historic and endemic
