Hillary Clinton talking about how women need to be assertive about getting their voices heard. She leaves. And a sofa full of men take her place.

I must watch that.
Isn't that just coincidence though?

margaritasbythesea · 20/10/2017 23:06

Don't understand that at all. What happened?

MiddleClassProblem · 20/10/2017 23:07

Did all the men say “leave now” and she said “ok”?

TheOtherNNB · 20/10/2017 23:09

She’s doing the interview/news circuits isn’t she - is it because of her book?

I like her but every time I see her I can’t help but think of her philandering, sex pest husband. Which must be hard for her in this current climate.

Galaxyfarfaraway · 20/10/2017 23:10

Her piece was recorded earlier.

SinglePringle · 20/10/2017 23:14

Oh jog on. She has a ridiculous schedule and it was pre-recorded to fit. The sofa on GN is based on who is in town. They don’t fly guests in (or if they do, rarely) - it’s who’s here on promo.

They have many many women on that sofa.

(The Hilary / Dodgy husband thing is trickier...)

viques · 20/10/2017 23:15

I know her piece was recorded earlier.

I am trying to remember the last time I saw a chat show sofa full of women only. Or more women than men rather than a token woman or as tonight no women at all. I sometimes think we have got so used to being sidelined and under represented that we barely notice it anymore.

I've just switched it on. Why does Jack Whitehall look like he's going for a job interview? Usually he looks like Eddie Munster.

ukelelebanana · 20/10/2017 23:17

I'm not sure you understand irony. On GN the guests are usually all together. She was alone, getting her voice heard properly. There is no irony there.
What a very odd thing to complain about.

quaqua · 20/10/2017 23:17

It's usually pretty even on Graham Norton to be fair.

ukelelebanana · 20/10/2017 23:17

And GN is often mainly women.

Galaxyfarfaraway · 20/10/2017 23:19

You are overthinking this.
She had a busy schedule, negatively impacted by her hurting her foot, and it was the only time she could fit in the filming.
I never count the number of women and men, just the quality and entertainment value of the guests. GN usually does a good job with the dynamics of his guests.

SinglePringle · 20/10/2017 23:19

Episode One of this series. More women than men. Bananarama, Reese Witherspoon and Margot Robbie.

Harrison Ford and an other male as the tokens.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 20/10/2017 23:20

"GN is often mainly women"

Is it? I've only seen very few episodes where that has been the case.

PickAChew · 20/10/2017 23:22

getting more value from pissed animals on rude tube.

ukelelebanana · 20/10/2017 23:24

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Graham_Norton_Show_episodes

couldn't really be any more balanced. Of any show you could have picked, and it is an issue on most shows, this is the absolute worst one you could have focused on.

DontbeaDickaboutit · 20/10/2017 23:26

Agree with Banana... seriously?

DontbeaDickaboutit · 20/10/2017 23:28

As in, I really agree with Banana? They gave her a platform - they gave her “centre stage” if you like?

ssd · 20/10/2017 23:30

oh christ who are you kidding op, GN is full of women, go try the poor little women card somewhere else

busyboysmum · 20/10/2017 23:30

I noticed that as well.

I'm noticing more in all sorts of shows wondering where the balance is.

viques · 20/10/2017 23:32

Thanks for the list ukelele. October 2015. That was the last time it was an all woman guest list.

OP posts:
ukelelebanana · 20/10/2017 23:34

next week will be more women than men. And the week after it will be 50/50, which is usually is.

yolofish · 20/10/2017 23:39

Hillary's interview was filmed pre-broadcast (I know because I was at ITV that day and it put the GN schedule out)

viques · 20/10/2017 23:44

50/50, which is (what it) usually is

Not according to the lists!

Feel there has been a good balance of women on GN. The guests are there to promote something or other always (obvs). But a good mix nonetheless. IMO I'm interested in a good mix, male or female, of interesting and entertaining people regardless of their gender.
