Onwards from the costumes of Film Week to the even more costumes and hair and make-up and contact lenses of Hallowe'en... Hopefully this thread will a have a couple of nice tasteful weeks, but we'll see Grin

DH said it was progressive with Ola, the longer she was in, the less she wore. He always said the years she got into the final she was basically wearing three post it notes.

I also didn't really "get" Alexandra's jive: it seems to me that if they're going to dish out 10s in week 4 it really needs to have some sort of Wow factor, like Jay's jive or Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Charleston. I still have a look at those occasionally on Youtube, but I can't see that happening with Alexandra's. On the other hand, I may well add Susan's quickstep to the Youtube list.

Jays jive won it for him though he was totally meh after that I liked Alexandra's jive but preferred Gemma it is going to be a Gemma/Aston/Alexandra final I think

DH and I came across strictly by accident. I think it may have been the series when Ainsley Harriet was in it but now I'm thinking I'm wrong with that. I know we've missed a few if it's 15 years. I find it surprising you can't buy previous series on DVD for those of us who are late to the programme and would like to watch them. I know there are some dances on utube but I'd like to watch the whole programmes.

My problem with Alexandra is that she was so arrogant and unpleasant on the X Factor that it's hard to warm to her on Strictly. Maybe she has changed, but her fake gasping and gurning are making that seem unlikely.

I think she was steely and ambitious on xfactor the girl came back twice and won I don't think she was their to make friends but on strictly she seems a bit more likeable

To her credit, Nadiya always looks slightly nauseated every time Bruno mentions sexy time. I really don't think she likes his witterings.

I've not seen X Factor so my opinion of her is formed from what I've seen of her on Strictly. I think she comes across as ambitious and determined, and I believe that is often associated with being a bit of a diva, hence why some people are not warming to her. She's a natural performer and I enjoy her dances, which is also helped by Gorka being her partner! She will go to the final but because of her X factor background, I don't think people will vote for her to win.

I'm a bit confused by all this 'X Factor background'. I watch both (sad life!) and feel the need to point out that she did actually win it! So she is more than capable of winning the public vote...

There have been far far worse X Factor contestants than her.

My reason, Piggy, is that there seems to be a lot of people who don't seem to like AB because if her behaviour in X factor, so she won't get the votes from them. Who knows? I expected Danny Mac to win last year but Ore did.

I think there are some vocal MNers who didn't like her 'behaviour' on X Factor. I am not sure that is a general thing I hear or read. I thought she was one of the more popular winners, to be fair.

She has developed a dive rep a bit since then (mainly in the DM ) - but I hardly think that's unusual in showbiz and always imo has a bit of casual sexism thrown in...

I have always watched Strictly and barely remember Tristan, other than he was Irish. I found him entirely unsexy. can someone enlighten me as to what I seem to have missed??

I wasn't wowed by Alexandra's jive, it just didn't seem that special to me.

Also, I thought Charlotte's jive looked like Riverdance!

I loved Alexandra's jive for its energy . How the hell do they keep that up!? But even I noticed a couple of tiny errors and I am not a judge.

Alexandra's had lots of energy but the kicks and flicks didn't seem sharp enough to me, although I am no expert.

Danny was a ringer, brilliant from the start, he hadn't had the journey that Ore had . That's why he got the votes, also OMG he's hot!

I'm not remotely an expert, just a Strictly fan, but I didn't hear what dance Alexandra was doing and thought it was a salsa at first!

Susan, Gemma and Jonnie were my favourites on Saturday in that order. I usually have a clear favourite by now, but not this year.
