Previous thread here.

Onwards from the costumes of Film Week to the even more costumes and hair and make-up and contact lenses of Hallowe'en... Hopefully this thread will a have a couple of nice tasteful weeks, but we'll see Grin

I love it really not the faffing GlitterballGlitterballGlitterball

I think that if Charlotte improves this week, even marginally, and shows enthusiasm, she'll get through. I think she has public support.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/10/2017 15:50

Agreed. People often vote for the contestants the judges are meanest too.

There are exceptions, of course: Gregg Wallace and Dave Myers are two that spring to mind.

But Nancy Dell'Olio stayed in longer than she should have. Was that the Anton factor?

CaveMum · 11/10/2017 15:52

My dance teacher has been posting on her Facebook page with screenshots of Charlotte's Tango which clearly show Charlotte and Brendan both up on their toes, despite Brendan's protests at Shirley's comments!

OneInAMillionYou · 11/10/2017 21:18

How horrid of your colleagues bonfireheart

We all deal with grief in different ways. I don't recall Alexandra being criticised for mentioning her mother's death in the first episode!

As a PP also said, Debbie will have grieved so much in the time between Paul's diagnosis and his death. I say good for her, and she is a smashing dancer to boot, probably the best of the 'older' ladies in Strictly history.

millimat · 11/10/2017 22:32

When do they even get chance to do all these silly VTs? Isn't there a dance to learn?Confused

Ceto · 12/10/2017 07:53

I hate the sheer stupid artificiality of those VTs. Any idiot can see that one visit to somewhere with an incredibly tenuous connection with that week's dance is going to do precisely zero for the celebrity's ability to perform it, and actually they would be better off using the time to practise. And the absolute worst bit is when the sleb has to do that final bit to camera when they say something like "Learning to fly has really helped me to understand how to dance the cha cha properly" - especially when they go on to dance spectacularly badly. I assume it's in their contracts that they have to do it, but for some it must be quite hard to force themselves to spout such blatant rubbish.

charliebear78 · 12/10/2017 13:56

I hate the VTs I usually use the time to go to the loo or top up my wine!
Seriously I wish they would just ditch them altogether.
I have noticed some seem to do the cringey stuff more than others.

SoupDragon · 12/10/2017 15:24

If they ditched them, when would you go to the loo or fill up your wine glass??

I like them. I use them to catch up to Real Time if I have paused the show for any reason. They're useful for that kind of thing!

RhiannonOHara · 12/10/2017 15:37

I agree, Soup, but it's damning with fairly faint praise, isn't it? Grin I miss the days [gimmer] when you got to see them actually training.

MrsJamin · 12/10/2017 17:16

The training vts are in ITT. I guess children might like the vts in the Saturday night show?! Mine laughed at the pretend flying etc last Saturday.

soupdragon Very good point!

CaveMum · 12/10/2017 21:44

Just watched tonight's ITT and Karen is winding me up. Walking onto set with Zoe whilst peeling a banana and eating it whilst she tries to ask questions. She's very self-involved.

scrabbler3 · 12/10/2017 23:00

The VTs are dull but when would I catch up on this thread otherwise?!?

shumway · 13/10/2017 09:34

Karen on ITT was so annoying. She thinks she's funny.

Theromanempire · 13/10/2017 10:21

Which Karen?? Hardy or Clifton?

CaveMum · 13/10/2017 10:38

Karen Clifton, natch.

Theromanempire · 13/10/2017 11:08

I suspected that Grin I don't watch ITT so have no idea but can't imagine Karen Hardy acting like that.

I am not a fan of the Clifton's and seriously think the 'success' has gone to their heads Hmm

soupforbrains · 13/10/2017 14:01

Hello everyone! I've missed you all and have just read through everything to catch up.

Also I finally have a few minutes at work so am AS WE SPEAK putting together the next graphs :)

CaveMum · 13/10/2017 14:16

It was interesting on last night's ITT to hear Ian talking about Debbie's body movement in her Cha Cha training. He said although she had the straight legs needed, she was dancing with her legs in front of her body (as a ballet dancer is trained to move), rather than having her body-weight over her legs.

The Latin movement is generated by the body moving slightly ahead of the legs so, as predicted, her hip action will suffer if she doesn't get this aspect right.

ppeatfruit · 13/10/2017 14:18

I know I'm a bit late Grin but thanks for the new thread Polka

I've been off line for nearly 2 weeks so will catch up with the shows dh has recorded for me. I've watched some of the ITTs though. BUT my DD2 was watching effing XFactor last Sat!!!!! OMG it was sooooo loud and coarse it made Srictly seem like a classical symphony!!

Wasn't surprised that the Rev. has gone. Aston is so good, is he trained?

Karen Clifton is often filmed eating she probably does it for a bet or something Hmm she's quite immature.

soupforbrains · 13/10/2017 14:20

Ok Here is chart number one, which is the usualy Strictly Stats of simply total increase in Twitter followers since the Announcement of contestants through to today.

If it helps the Contestants where listed on the right hand side are listed in ascending order :)

CaveMum · 13/10/2017 14:27

Ooooh!

soupforbrains · 13/10/2017 14:44

I'm afraid the next one is a bit less glitzy looking... but this is the twitter follower growth trend so point 1 is final contestant announcement, point 2 was pre-launch show, point 3 post launch, point 4 just before the 1st week and point 5 is today.
