The fights and drunks make me really cross. Such a waste of resources.

I wasn't going to watch (a bit of a busman's holiday on my night off ) but I'm watching. Love these programs, especially when they show the reality for the EMDs as well as the operational crews.

This show is just making me angry. All the drink related calls when people are desperate for an ambulance through no fault of their own. The staff do such a great job with limited resources.

this is pretty depressing watching. 2 ambulances for 2.2 million people at one point

Every time I see a woman give birth I think how completely Awesome we are.

Was getting a bit misty eyed over several of the stories featured... so pleased for Terry and the mum and baby, the paramedic who delivered him was lovely.

Programmes like this really make me appreciate what a hard and at times thankless job our emergency services do, and the staff in the control rooms. I too get irritated by the drink related calls and fights over petty stuff - beating someone with a baseball bat over a parking space?!

All of you who know about things what is the reasoning behind sending two crews to things? I get the mum and baby because both mum and baby might need help but the drowning man had 2 crews, a paramedic officer I think he was called and the police and all they did was basically scoop and run.

I haven't watched it but different staff have different skills. So the first ambulance might have had a technician crew and they needed a paramedic crew to administer certain drugs. Then you've got senior or advanced paramedics who are usually on rapid response cars and have higher qualifications and can also advise paramedics
Officers etc usually take control of a scene

Balls to doing that job!

I have the most respect for anyone who would even want to do it, let alone go out and actually do it day after day.

Those poor people don't even get the time to process 1 tragedy before they are sent to what could be the next.

I am glad there are people like you in the world. You don't get paid even close to enough. Nor are there enough of you!

2 ambulances for a baby born on scene as you guessed simply because you're dealing with 2 potential patients. If in a worse case scenario baby is born not breathing and mom starts bleeding out you really do need 2.

For cardiac arrests, as you saw in the first case shown, it's pretty brutal and hard work, 28 mins of cpr is exhausting and again you need hands free to get the drugs in etc.

The drowning, basically you're going on the info you have on the screen in front of you. Treating it as a cardiac arrest until you know otherwise. So 2 crews and the officer is sent to manage the scene, liaise with other services such as fire and police and bystanders to keep the crews free to treat the patient. I'm sure you can imagine the crowds of people sometimes attracted by the blue flashy things 😏

I thought it was filmed really well and showed how everyone works together.

And the paramedic who has a disabled child cos of starvation of oxygen such a sad story I felt for her. I wondered if she was thinking back and worrying because of that.

You do, you just get on with it. EMD is a hard job because you hear everything and see nothing. I have taken calls that will stay with me forever and I've never met them and I don't know their faces
