Anyone watching? I remember trying and failing to read it when I was younger.

I don't think I've ever seen a scene as shocking in a while as the sheep one.

Omg the sheep scene was horrendous!

LIZS · 20/08/2017 20:27

It was the first set book I read at secondary school, and hated! Seems to be a pacy adaptation.

HolyShmoly · 20/08/2017 20:53

I wouldn't throw Farmer Tom out of the hay for farting anyway...

I don't know the story at all. So watching with interest. Looks a bit gloomy. She's a great character though.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 20/08/2017 20:59

The sheep one in the original was filmed where I live

the orginal is great the remake is really crap

i love the dreamy atmosphere in the 60s version when terence stamp does the sword fight.

HolyShmoly · 20/08/2017 21:08

I think I would have wet myself laughing had someone done that little sword performance for my benefit, rather than having the raging horn.

I've given up and gone to bed!

holidayqueriwifi · 20/08/2017 21:42

I'm really enjoying it!

Ifyoubuildittheywillcome · 20/08/2017 21:50

I'm glued.
The emotion, the turmoil.
It's a 19th century Dawson's Creek / Twilight.

HolyShmoly · 20/08/2017 21:50

I just realised it's not a tv series, it's a one-parter!

Did Babcock have a whole vanity set up for her with loads of 'spensive jewellery in it?

churchilllounge · 20/08/2017 21:51

There's a lot of twists!

SleightOfHand · 20/08/2017 21:51

Second time I've seen this version, I like it. Not seen Terence Stamp one, the 90's one is good too. Let no man steal your thyme, beautiful old folk song.

Puffpaw · 20/08/2017 21:52

I do not know which one you are watching but I loved the one with Carey mulligan in.

HolyShmoly · 20/08/2017 21:52

DH wasn't even really watching but we simultaneously let out a cry at the shooting. Loads of twists and turns!

OP posts:
Ifyoubuildittheywillcome · 20/08/2017 21:52

Jesus.
Didn't see that coming!
It's the Carey Mulligan one.

HolyShmoly · 20/08/2017 21:53

Yes, that's the one Puffpaw. She's stunning.

BMW6 · 20/08/2017 21:53

So disappointing. Have read the book dozens of times and loved the 1960's film, which was soooo much better than this pile of shite. No comparison.

SleightOfHand · 20/08/2017 21:53

Yes that's it 2015 version

Ifyoubuildittheywillcome · 20/08/2017 21:54

Must watch the 1960s one some time.
It reminds me of the tv adaptation of Tess of the D'urbervilles that was on in the late '90s. I cried buckets during it.
Angel Clare, swoon.

BBC1 AF

HolyShmoly · 20/08/2017 21:55

BBC1. Think it's just about finished though. But who knows, there might be another massive plot twist around the corner!
