..and they are my limit in terms of gore and violence (in other words, not very gory and violent at all!) what else might I like?

In the line of duty, it's brilliant (and on Netflix)

LittleMissMankyPants · 08/08/2017 15:37

Big Little Lies

It's an HBO series based on a book. Available through Amazon prime. Perhaps other places too.

youarenotkiddingme · 08/08/2017 15:43

The tunnel

ClarkWGriswold · 08/08/2017 15:47

The Killing (Netflix) but only the original (Swedish?) version not the American remake is brilliant. Also Dr Foster also on Netflix and agree with Line of Duty - an absolutely brilliant programme. Bloodline is really good (Netflix) and DH and I have just started watching The Keepers which is disturbing as hell but a compelling story that needed to be told.

TheLegendOfBeans · 08/08/2017 15:48

Line of Duty (BBC)
No Offence (C4)

The latter is woefully underrated

featheryfancy · 08/08/2017 15:52

Fearless which has just been on ITV has been good and similar sort of drama.
Apple tree (Lane/Yard anyone? Recently was also good although there was a pretty graphic scene at the beginning.
Unforgotten on Itv again was great

Mrsemcgregor · 08/08/2017 18:17

Bosch on Amazon Prime is good, as is Luther and Sherlock?

ggirl · 08/08/2017 18:20

Ozark on netflix is brilliant
The Americans on netflix also great but I've only just started watching it .

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/08/2017 18:21

Shetland. Fabulous, and very similar to Broadchurch in terms of gore level Grin

BertrandRussell · 08/08/2017 18:23

Thank you all! I wanted to watch Line of Duty, but my friend said I was too pathetic for it. I think I might start with that and try to,prove her wrong........

If you can handle series 1 of Happy Valley you'll be fine with Line of Duty. I found HV quite disturbing - loved the second series tho.

Yowser · 08/08/2017 18:27

If you coped with Happy Valley you'll be fine with Line of Duty. I'm a lightweight too and found Happy Valley really disturbing.

PantPlot · 08/08/2017 18:27

I think you'd really like LOD if you liked Happy Valley.

Broken (with Sean Bean) was on BBC recently, that was also excellent.

Yowser · 08/08/2017 18:27

Wow NashvilleQueen - great minds!

NashvilleQueen · 08/08/2017 18:30

Haha! Absolutely Grin

BertrandRussell · 08/08/2017 18:34

There were bits in Happy Valley where I closed my eyes........

Just started In The Dark on BBC and it's good - reminds me of all of the above, esp as lead woman is v similar to one of the detectives in No Offence - rebellious, determined hints at dark background, etc. And wears buttoned up shirts [smiles]

Standstilling · 08/08/2017 18:38

Line of Duty is just peerless, though - the suspense, the plotting, those interview scenes! Not esp gory - HV was worse - but the tension is so well strung out.

MyNeighbourSnorlax · 08/08/2017 18:39

Line of duty is amazing!

YouCantCallMeBetty · 08/08/2017 18:44

Another LOD lover here! For a bit of old school how about Spooks? Some gory bits but mostly not and if you coped with HV you'll be fine.
For slightly less gripping episodes but still good stories what about Scott & Bailey, Lewis and Endeavour?

Standstilling · 08/08/2017 18:52

Ooh yes, Scott and Bailey - about 5 seasons to go at I think. Basically, anything Sally Wainwright has written is excellent.

MarciaBlaine · 08/08/2017 18:56

Second Scott and Bailey. They are all brilliant. I'm enjoying catching up with The Loch at the moment.

WandaOff · 09/08/2017 19:45

I agree if you can handle HV then Line of Duty is fine.
I'm also a wuss about watching graphic violence which means I sometimes miss out on high quality drama.
I loved Happy Valley.
Scott and Bailey is good. Also Unforgotten.
If you like scenery with your crime then Shetland, Vera and Hinterland (which is filmed in Wales).
I'm half way through In The Dark but it's not of the same calibre.
I'm also watching from behind a cushion The Fall on Amazon video. Gripping plot and superb acting but scary.

BertrandRussell · 09/08/2017 19:58

2 episodes of Line of Duty down- hooked!

I didn't realize Sally Wainwright wrote Scott and Bailey. That's next.
