..and they are my limit in terms of gore and violence (in other words, not very gory and violent at all!) what else might I like?

Theseaweed · 09/08/2017 20:23

The Missing both series
Unforgotten

Riviera on Sky

Second vote for Bloodline

And Scott and bailey

Also check out Babylon - excelllent but sadly only one series

Or you might like Justified - swap Yorkshire for Kentucky . . .

Plus orange is the new black if you've not done it yet!

And if you like Bloodline try Friday Night Lights. It's the best drama - always being referenced in other US dramas (e.g. Parks and recreation)

Kyle Chandler (John in Bloodline) is Coach, that's what made me think of it.

Series 4 and 5 score 100% on rotten tomatoes. Don't take my word for it . . .

Good work on the suggestions here. I feel it is my duty to check them all out thoroughly.

Also quite like the idea, inspired by Wandoff and her 'crime drama with scenery', of specific sub-genres. I especially like crime drama with property porn - No Offence had some great locations and Appletree Yard was good for ogling nice houses and not paying proper attention to the plot.

Having missed Line of Duty on telly, we binged watched all but the last series over about a month. Bloody marvellous! Watching them so close together revealed links we might otherwise have missed across all the series (I say no more!). Had to go to Amazon to purchase the last series as it's not on Netflix.

Shetland and Vera are both good, @BertrandRussell - they are both based on books by Ann Cleves.

squoosh · 10/08/2017 20:30

I can't watch Vera due to that voice Brenda Blethyn puts on! I can't concentrate on the crime as I'm so enraged by her squeaking.

squoosh · 10/08/2017 20:32

I would recommend The Night Manager and series 1 of Damages starring Glenn Close.

squoosh · 10/08/2017 20:35

Oh and have you seen Borgen? It's great. No violence but gripping political drama about the fictional female Danish PM.

The loch

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 10/08/2017 20:40

Marcella and Dr Foster are really good too.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/08/2017 13:53

I'd second The Loch and Top of the Lake, which are both excellent, and I've recently started watching DCI Banks, with Stephen Tompkinson, which is also good - each story is two one-hour episodes, which is about the right length for me.

michelle303 · 14/08/2017 09:47

Line of Duty and No Offence!

squoosh · 14/08/2017 11:05

Also, I'm late to the party with this but I've just started watching House of Cards (American version) and I'm gripped.

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2017 12:32

Right. I have now binged the first 4 seasons, and I'm starting to find it a bit difficult to suspend disbelief. Maybe it's a one a week series? Just so much happens, and the same people keep going undercover and not getting recognized, and.......I think I need to stop for a bit.
