BBC 4. Spanish thriller. Anyone else watching?

Yes, watched both and quite enjoyed. Even if I couldn't quite figure out the Spanish justice system.

I enjoyed it and will definitely watch the rest, but there were some very ott bits (such as the brother). Hope it doesn't get ridiculous.

And yes, the justice system is interesting!

I thought Eva was about eighteen, due to her cool baggy shirts and gamine hair, and at the beginning when she was bouncing about the law office (which also seems to be 'boff all female characters who have anything to do with the law' David's living quarters?), I had absolutely no idea what her relationship to Elias's case was, or what that workspace was. Lots of unanswered questions. Why are David's shirts and suits slightly too tight? Is the dog's death relevant? Why is Marc apparently going crazier over the disappearance of his stepsister than her father and stepmother? Do the family live in the most sinister minimalist house ever built? Has Ana really dropped out to become a kite surfer?

Watching it. Spanish interiors don't match the standard of the Scandi ones, but the story's quite good. Agree with BogQueen about David and Marc. It appears that Elias' amnesia isn't genuine (breakfast cereal scenario), but I can't figure out what he's playing at.

I watched it, and found it a bit weird. I fell asleep in part of it towards the beginning- did I dream that one of the younger blokes lives lived in the office?.

I forgot the sinister replacement of the breakfast cereal -- though I suppose also possible that Elias is recovering his memory gradually, or some of his memory, but keeping schtum...?

No, bugger, you didn't dream it. David, he of the 'boff anything that moves' persuasion and the too-tight shirts, has his personal shagpad in their workplace, presumably so we can get various shots of scantily clad female lawyers.

I read a review of it in yesterday's Guardian, which said that Ana's father was mounting a private prosecution against Elias to run alongside the public one, which was news to me -- so Eva, David and co are private prosecutors hired by Ana's father, and entirely separate to the criminal investgation, but somehow running parallel to it???

Although that's even odder, because weren't they the ones sitting alongside the judge at the hearing where whether Elias got bail or not was decided?

I am now interested in watching this... Had paid no attention to it as it is a production of Telecinco, which as a TV network is mainly focused on gossip, Z-list celebrities and sensationalism.

Anyway, for what I can remember (I left Spain eons ago), apart from the prosecution from the 'fiscalía' (Public prosecutor), there is also the possibility of 'acusación particular' or private, independent, prosecution.

Do watch, LaBruja, especially if you have insights into the Spanish judicial system. I ended up bothering French lawyer friends about how the French legal system worked when I was first watching Engrenages -- I'd lived in France, but never particularly been aware of the inquisitorial legal system, where a trial judge is actively involved in the prosecution, rather an an impartial referee between prosecution and defence.

I'm not sure it's massively high-quality TV, but it looked all bleached-out and cool, and the hoary old premise of the amnesiac man accused of a crime he can't remember committing was interesting enough to keep me watching two episodes. And I like the actress who plays Alicia Castro, who's been in a couple of Almodovar films, I think.

Prob won't get a chance to watch tonight's episodes as I'm in France, and can't see myself staying up late enough. But I'll watch them before next week.

Hadn't picked up about the private prosecution. Did notice the breakfast cereal - but surely it won't be as simple as him just making the whole thing up, unless it's to hide yet another major family secret or something....?

I just came on to see if anyone had stated a thread about this. I missed last week, so I watched episodes 1 and 2 today, and I'll watch the next two tonight. I'm really enjoying it, although I don't understand why they uncovered the buried dog before the police came (and also how/when the dog died).

I'm loving this, though that's not a good thing this weekend with a uni deadline looming.

After tonight's first episode I am now less sure than ever of what is going on and what Elias is up to! Am loving every minute though.

David reminds me of a Spanish guy I went out with years ago - in looks and his propensity to shag anything that moves (it would appear Ana was not dissimilar from what has been suggested tonight.)

I'm not so keen on David, but Elias - omg! I've been out and I'm quite drunk so I've only watched the first episode tonight on catch-up. Will watch the second one tomorrow.

I have a real feeling this is all leading back to Alicia..... Revenge on Elias? Final push finding out about Ana?

Elias is hot, that's for sure.

I'm loving this, even though the Spanish legal system is a bit confusing. I think Alicia suspects that Pol is responsible in some way and she's trying to cover up for him - she would sell Elias down the river for him that's for sure. There's definitely something about Elias.

I've been enjoying this but have given up on trying to understand the Spanish legal system. I find Marta Hess incredibly annoying with all her strutting and smirking plus she has a very limited wardrobe. I agree that Alicia is not a woman to be crossed so beware! I can't say I'm an Elias fan - sorry. The only other thing that strikes me is the inability of anyone to stay still. Is it just me but do almost all conversations have to take place on the move, it's exhausting to watch.

Please can someone explain the breakfast cereal thing? I must have missed that. Thanks

It was in one of the first episodes, Batty - Elias was alone in the kitchen, went to the cupboard (without searching for the right one) and selected a box of cereal. Was about to pour himself some when Julieta came downstairs - when he heard her coming he rapidly returned the cereal to the cupboard and acted as though he needed her to sort his breakfast. I think she made some comment about the box that he had chosen being his favourite.

Oh right thanks. That went completely over my head.

I still can't work out what the motive would be for Heredia to be involved in Ana's disappearance.

And I still can't decide just how much Elias can really remember.

I really think it's Alicia and she's setting it up. She hated ana and her involving Pol, and Elias. She has connections etc. And she is a bitch!

Yes, I'm loving it! I can't decide about Heredia, but I'm sure Elias is genuine. I think ana is alive and in Alicia's fathers house. I'm going out to a gig this Saturday, and I'm gutted!

Agent I am out as well! I will be silencing the children Sunday and hiding with the iPad and headphones!!!
