Rhubarb · 23/03/2007 13:07

Excellent - would be great if they still showed it - actually it would probably be a great big steaming pile of shite but was fun when I was 7!!

Was it a bee or something he used to keep in his sock and blow on??

Rhubarb · 23/03/2007 15:16

ds got a book from the library about them, it's a chinese folk tale.

Remember how their mouths moved completely out of sync with the voice overs which were really really naff!

Ha !

"In the worlds before Monkey, primal chaos reigned. Heaven sought order. But the phoenix can fly only when it's feathers are grown. The four worlds formed again and yet again, as endless eons wheeled and passed. Time and the pure essences of Heaven, the moisture of the earth, the powers of the Sun and the Moon, all worked upon a certain rock, old as creation. And it became magically fertile. That first egg was named "Thought". Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha, said, "With our thoughts, we make the world". Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch.
From it then came a stone monkey.
The nature of monkey was irrepressible!

Mooonkeeeeeeeeeeey!

I found three Monkey videos in a charity shop and gave them dh for Christmas.

When we watched them they seemed incredibly dated and boring.

MrsMillionsofcremeggsplease · 23/03/2007 15:47

Yes, but was it a boy or a girl, never could work it out

DumbledoresGirl · 23/03/2007 15:47

Tripitaka was a man! There was a thread about this very programme not so long ago!

amynnixmum · 23/03/2007 15:48

DumbledoresGirl · 23/03/2007 15:48

Is that the one where if he was naughty the band around his head tightened?

Rhubarb · 23/03/2007 16:15

Yup!
I forgot about that! Thanks Homemama!

I think the series must have been repeated because I'm far too young to remember the original series.
